Obamacare in NJ: Four out of five
enrollees have paid their premiums

Star-Ledger [Newark, NJ], by Kathleen O´Brien

Original Article

Posted By:Ribicon, 2/22/2014 8:55:51 AM

At least three-quarters of the New Jerseyans who have selected health insurance through the federal marketplace website have followed through by paying their first month’s premium, according to the three companies selling the policies. The state’s rate of paying customers is in line with figures reported across the nation. The figures are seen by some as an important barometer of success in the opening months of coverage. Critics of the Affordable Care Act have noted that with each enrollment update, federal officials have not revealed how many of the enrollees took the next step in purchasing a policy.

Comments:
Reporting meets government standards: says right in the article that "paying" is a barometer of success, but notice there´s no mention of what fraction of these "paid" premiums are subsidized by others. Lying by omission, coin of the realm.

Without subsidies, my premium hike was astronomical, so now I´m uninsured. Had I paid some small fraction of that massive bill, with other taxpayers paying the balance, I´d be counted as "paid."

" paying their first month’s premium"

Let´s see if they do the 2nd and the 3rd.. Let´s see if any of their money is actually paying for anything..
I think it is all smoke and mirrors.

And...it doesn´t say how many people enrolled. If only twenty people enrolled and 4/5 paid a premium that would be 16 people insured.

Need more information than a percentage or fraction to understand the story. This could be really good or it could be really bad, but until one has the whole picture, it´s a nothing article...right?

FTA:" To date, we have received payment from 75 percent of members with coverage effective Jan. 1," she said. The company is continuing to reach out to customers who signed up for coverage but haven’t submitted a payment yet".

Since I live and breathe this stuff every day, I´m reading ´with coverage´ as ,well, with coverage. If an insurer is using those words, they´re paying any and all claims per the contract. I seem to remember insurers being told late last year to relax the requirement of payment for a month or so which allows the gubmint to be able to count everyone as ´covered´ ( or else!)
It appears that the insurers are providing coverage while only receiving about 80% of the stated premium. This can only result in the implementation of the ´guardrails´ ,i.e., bailouts. All according to plan- as nearly all of ´the folks´ hate insurance companies, anyway. We´ll just ´hafta´ let the government take this over completely ( as King Orator would say).

NJ has long had mandatory car insurance and it is a loooooong standing Jersey tradition to pay the first premium, get the ID card and never pay again.
I´ll be shocked if this isn´t what´s going on now.

The trust in government is zero.
The trust in government agencies is zero.
The trust in the Media is zero with very few exceptions.
The trust in TV reports is zero.
The trust in the President is zero.

The trust in oneself had better be first and growing as we are dealing with very nasty people who Soros has been able to purchase with the coin.

Approx 1/4 of enrollees have not paid their first month´s Obamacare premium and therefore should not be counted as signed up, nor will they have access to medical care except via ER´s. Imagine the same percentage not having car insurance.

Obama, 4 out of 5 Americans had insurance to begin with. The others did not -- because they did not pay their premiums. So, Obama, you have wrecked the insurance industry, our economy, and where are we? Broke, in debt, our standard of living declining, and everybody worse off.

So a 20% default rate is reason to celebrate? What happens when people stop paying as the year goes along? Expect the government to order insurers to cover everyone as long as they paid that just one month.

In New Jersey, an early reading shows the percentage of those who have paid ranges from 75 percent to 90 percent.
"I think the numbers sound really positive," said Linda Schwimmer, vice president of the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute. "I really wish it was 100 percent, but it’s a good start."

Well what is it, Linda --75% --66 2/3%. The numbers are below what they said they would get and we have no idea what the ratio of old folks to young folks are. This is just hot air.

The article and the comments show there is no reliable information. Government agencies produce whatever numbers are convenient.

And it is always most convenient to say what their political bosses want.

Most of those hopelessly entangled with government - and all health insurers and providers now are - will say whatever government wants to hear.

Media independence is next. It is the natural enemy of an absolute state everywhere. In the US the FCC is, for now, assigned to silence independent opinions and dissent.

Homeland Security, with its millions of rounds of new ammo, probably wanted that job and will probably take it over if the unarmed FCC makes no progress.
