Senators Demand FBI Head Answer
Questions About Indictment of
Dinesh D´Souza

Weekly Standard, by Daniel Halper

Four United States Senators have a written a letter to FBI director James Comey about the indictment of author and filmmaker Dinesh D´Souza. Senators Charles Grassley, ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, Jeff Sessions, Ted Cruz, and Mike Lee are the four senators, all Republicans, to have signed the letter. The letter quotes Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz as saying, "I can´t help but think that [D´Souza´s] politics have something to do with it. ... It smacks of selective prosecution." And, the senators write, "To dispel this sort of public perception that Mr. D´Souza may have been targeted because

Good for them! They can expect the usual behavior from this corrupt, lawless regime. They will stonewall or furnish almost completely redacted "blackened" copies, if they respond at all.

Remember when then Vice President Al Gore raised $45,000 of obviously bundled money at the Tsi Lai Buddhist Temple, all attributed to the amazing generosity of the nuns in attendance? A Democratic bundler named Johnny Chung fled to China, Al Gore dismissed the incident as one governed by "no controlling legal authority," the FBI dropped the ball and the press yawned.

Dinesh D´Sousa is a tale of warning. Once the FCC invades the nation´s newsrooms, conservative reporters and editors had better get with the program, lest they be investigated for unpaid parking tickets and spitting on the sidewalk.

I´m very impressed by Alan Dershowitz. There aren´t a lot of Harvard Law professors who would state the obvious about this clearly biased prosecution, and I appreciate that. He´s an honest liberal - in other words, one of a kind.

Prime example of what the loss of free speech would mean to America. And if anyone would be liable to abolish the First Amendment, it would be those traitors in the once-White House.

I am very skeptical of Congressional inquiries and investigations. They are always very public but rarely effective. DC in general is a reeking putrid mass of liars and butt covering. It is almost impossible for anybody to get to the truth. Like everything else this will be quietly dropped in a few weeks and it will be back to business as usual.

Agree with #8. When have we gotten any real answers from this corrupt administration. Although I do not agree with the government´s indictment of Mr. D´Souza, maybe letting this play out in the courts would be effective. Make the government prove this is not selective prosecution. Others have done far worse and received a slap on the wrist or nothing at all. Seems to me that millions coming in from overseas donors to a presidential campaign would warrant a review. How about that Barack? If I remember correctly there were many donations that came in from the Middle East with odd amounts due to the currency exchange? Foreign donors, really? Hmmmmm. Now that should warrant investigation.

This abuse of power, especially by the FBI, seems so out of character with that organization. Actually it was my perception of the FBI that it was so good. However I forgot the J.Edgar Hoover years.

Good for these Senators in demanding answers. There is a big difference in plotting harm to the United States, as was done prior to 9/11/2001 by the Muslim hi-jackers, and someone publicly criticizing the current person in power. Was Michael Moore and his anti-Bush movie investigated?

We keep saying GOP in Congress needs to get their message out. They have limited ways of doing that. The LSM will not take notice of this letter, but Fox News has already had it as a topic of discussion on several shows. Dinesen D´Souza was on Kelly File last night.
Conservative blogs and news sites on the web are also reporting this action by Senators. The Lofos will never pay attention or care about these issues.

The FBI investigates - they do not prosecute.
This indictment was brought by a U.S. Attorney´s office or main Justice which is Holder´s crew. That´s who needs to be answering questions. Justice stonewalls and Congress is incapable or a real investigation. As with all the other scandals, an independent prosecutor is needed. Since the independent counsel law expired the only mechanism is for Holder to appoint an IC. Like that´s gona happen ! We are so screwed.

The most important thing to remember is that the FBI is under the jurisdiction of the Justice Dept, which is anything but! When you have a corrupt Att Gen getting his marching orders from those who have the same mentality that our dear leader has, we should not be surprised when these things happen.

I agree with the above poster that corruption is so pervasive in these government agencies, I dont see how we can get our confidence in the truth on anything anymore. Politics trump all anymore. Justice is no longer blind.

Anyone with a brain knows that this is a textbook example, by definition, of a bona fide political prosecution. D´Souza´s sharp exposure of the emperor without clothes rattled someone in the WHouse and it´s just too easy to use the handy FBI to fire back. I hope Dinesh kicks them all the way down the courthouse steps.
But --- having said that, I´ve become sick and tired of reading posts on this site and others, trashing ALL federal workers in the law enforcement agencies and others, so I have to say something about it. Get educated before you post. If you were to say the same thing about EVERYone who works for Verizon or FedEx, you´d be intellectually draggged off the comments column. The federal workforce at the field levels is populated with a great number of patriots (that´s right!!!) and hard-working professionals who detest what is happening in Washington just as much as you do. There is tons of abuse and corruption everywhere in Washington, but blame the voters who put this administration in charge not once, but twice. And blame the cowardly Congress that does and says nothing about it, save for a few voices. It is the Congress that has oversight over all the agencies, believe it or not. How easy it is to smear everyone at the FBI over the bad apples at the top of the pile who agree to do dirty work, most of whom are appointed (yes, appointed, not hired competitively). Get off your soapbox and start working to put good people into office in your community and let´s stop smearing the honest folks who daily must work under a hostile environment handed down from Washington. If you don´t like it, they do even less.

Comey is a snake. Colin Powell´s assistant leaked to press that Joe Wilson´s wife set up the Niger trip. Wilson was not working for CIA as claimed. Signed no confidentiality agreement
as is required. But wrote an op-ed to claim Bush lied.
Powell told Armitage to report himself. So when Fitzdoofus was appointed, the truth was known. Comey , ASst. AG expanded the scope of inquiry. And that´s how Scooter got charged.

Yesterday, on Lucianne, we introduced an idea for a new online research site, JOB TRACKER, that would take government liars, like Morell and Lois Lerner, show their old salaries, the double dipping retirement reward when they slide out of their current, in question job, and a description and salaries of the new cushy job they were given.

JOB TRACKER keeps America aware of the rewards of Washington lying.

We also include Government bureaucrat "stonewalls" to any public questioning (after all, stonewalling, like lying and taking the fifth, is just another clever federal way of DODGING THE TRUTH).

There is so much obfuscation and mafia-like dodging in Washington, that suggesting an online accessible research data base called JOB TRACKER,a would be very popular with all good Americans who are fed up with Washington, the press an TV´s rampant disease of "news lying" day and night. So many people who lie, Jay Carney, Diane Sawyer, Steve Pelley, any New York Times writer, Diane Feinstein, Commie Schumer, that anyone like can qualify to be on JOB TRACKER. And the JOB TRACKER personality who is caught in the most lies each year would receive the Barry Soetero Award!

Usually, a big shot like James Comey, unpleasantly finds his name in the news, and the subservient press and worshipping TV media ignore his plight, and his name disappears from the press as quickly as it first appeared.

With JOB TRACKER, he can´t disappear, no matter how artfully he dodges the truth, no matter how doggedly the truth is not revealed, or how he refuses to respond to all questions. He is now on The List

JOB TRACKER can be the support needed by Cruz, Paul and other outspoken patriots. It might also serve to wake up all the weak kneed RINO republicans, those many who refuse to go on the attack against communism. JOB TRACKER presents so many new opportunities of attack against lying corruption, that even
a few socialist democrats might see the opportunity to turn back to honest, once again.

I have worked with FBI staff on these types of public corruption cases and can attest that the FBI agents are hardworking, committed and in my experience non-partisan in their administration of the law. D´Souza is accused as I understand it not of bundling contributions, which is legal, but rather reimbursing contributors for the contributions they have made in their own names. This is money laundering and is illegal. These types of illegal contributions are very difficult to uncover through a routine review of campaign filings unless there is a pattern of let´s say janitors or secretaries or unemployed people making very high contributions. Then there might be a suspicion of reimbursed contributions. But, I don´t think that was the case in this instance. Anyone can review the filings of Wendy Long´s campaign, the campaign D´Souza was alleged to have aided in this manner on the FEC website.

Moreover, it is very, very difficult foran administrative agency to get the United States Attorneys to prosecute these cases. Anyone in the business knows this case has all the earmarks of a hit on Mr. D´Souza. BTW Lois Lerner used to be the General Counsel at the Federal Election Commission before becoming an IRS goon so she would know how to try to take down a target.

The questions of the 4 senators are terrific. But, every Republican senator should have signed that letter.

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

It’s pitiful that we’ve reached this point, but Obama’s account of this chat really is more credible than Cantor’s. O’s position on immigration is straightforward: He wants amnesty badly, partly for legacy reasons and partly because he’s understandably keen to legalize a few million future Democratic voters, and he’s hoping the GOP will go along so that he doesn’t have to do something risky like an executive moratorium on deportations. The GOP leadership’s position is anything but straightforward. They’re convinced that they need to pass some sort of immigration bill before 2016 or else Latinos will hand the White House

Like him or hate him, there is no disputing that Rush Limbaugh’s very special brand of mixing right-wing politics with his flare for entertainment has produced one of the most successful radio programs in the medium’s long history. Whatever the burning political question of the day, millions of Americans have relished the opportunity to tune into Rush’s program, knowing that he would quickly take that hot potato, throw a few gallons of verbal kerosene into the mix and elevate the matter into a five alarm fire with a just a few well-chosen words spoken in the style only Rush Limbaugh could

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote in her forthcoming book that she was “hurt” and “angry” by 2012 reporting on her fraudulent claim to Native American heritage. “What really threw me, though, were the constant attacks from the other side,” Warren wrote in her book “A Fighting Chance.” “I would almost persuade myself that I was starting to get the hang of full-throttle campaigning and then — bam! Out of left field, the state Republican Party, or the Brown campaign, or some blogger, would launch a rocket at me,” Warren wrote, adding, ”I was stunned by the attacks.” This reporter (blogger?) reported extensively

WASHINGTON — Former President Jimmy Carter joined fellow Nobel laureates Wednesday in opposing Keystone XL, insisting that approving the pipeline would trigger “more climate upheaval” around the globe. In an open letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, Carter and the nine other Nobel Peace Prize winners bluntly warned the leaders: “Your decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will define your climate legacy.” The missive, published as an advertisement in Politico, represents the first time Carter has taken a position on the $5.4 billion project and makes him the first former president to come

With Easter soon approaching, the Rev. Al Sharpton on Wednesday drew parallels between the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of President Obama’s political career. Joining the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Mr. Sharpton said that his message for this Easter is that “no matter what the world may do to you unfairly, no matter how you’re crucified — nailed to the cross at home, or in your personal relationships, or on the job — that you can rise if you don’t lose yourself during the hard times and the challenges.” The reverend went on to say that Christ endured so much humiliation and unearned suffering leading up to his death,

FORT WORTH — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis will undergo neck surgery today, her campaign said Tuesday. “After experiencing shoulder and right arm pain in recent weeks, Sen. Davis will have a routine surgical procedure to remove bone spurs and degenerative discs that are creating compression on the nerves in her neck,” campaign spokesman Zac Petkanas said in a statement Tuesday. “This is a common issue experienced by runners and endurance athletes,” he said. Davis, of Fort Worth, will undergo the outpatient surgery at the Fort Worth Brain and Spine Institute. Dr. Thomas Ellis will perform the

The cash infusion by the federal government is actually going to help the city pay pensions, even though they´re playing a kind of shell game with the money. As for "blight removal," perhaps they could start with city hall. Reuters: Michigan officials and President Barack Obama´s Administration are discussing a plan to free up $100 million in federal money to aid Detroit´s retired city workers, the Detroit Free Press reported on Tuesday. Citing two people familiar with the talks, the newspaper said the talks were centered around federal money flowing to Michigan for blight removal. Under the plan, $100 million

Climate change’s latest casualty appears to be fish — or more specifically, fish brains — as researchers say the carbon dioxide that’s being absorbed into the ocean is causing the scaly creatures to lose their survival instincts. In other words, the fish are losing their minds, The Daily Mail reported. The acid from atmospheric carbon dioxide seeps into sea waters, dissolves and ultimately lowers the pH balance, researchers said. The acidic waters then hamper the fishes’ sensory systems, so they’re not able to distinguish between smells any longer, the scientists went on. When the acid levels get really high, the fish lose their
