The Resistance

Texas attorney general Greg Abbott has a famous saying: “What I really do for fun is I go into the office [and] sue the Obama administration.” Abbott’s relentless struggle against an administration that routinely exceeds its authority and tramples on federalism made him the ringleader among the two dozen Republican state AGs. He’s now running for governor. So it’s not surprising that Dan Branch, running to succeed Abbott as Texas AG, is often asked if he would be as tough as Abbott in confronting the Obama administration. “My response is I’ll have to be tougher,” he says. And he goes

Dan Branch is lying. He is a moderate and will not be anywhere near as effective at AG Abbott and his right hand man, Cruz, are.

The only person running for Texas AG that will come close to our "dream team" is Ken Paxton.

Obama’s World of Make Believe
Commentary Magazine, by Peter Wehner    Original Article

For anyone who has observed Barack Obama over the years, it’s obvious that a fundamental part of his self-identity involves seeing himself, and having others see him, as pragmatic rather than ideological, reality-based, driven by reason instead of bias. This has never actually been true. Mr. Obama is, in fact, unusually dogmatic, blind to counter-evidence, and mostly unable to adjust his views to the way things are. So when his worldview collides with reality, he often can’t adjust. He instead creates his own make believe world. We’ve seen it time and time again with the Affordable Care Act. (Earlier this month the

Whatever happened to Granny Warren’s Native American heritage? She’s written a new memoir, due out next month, and in the advance press releases, I don’t notice the word “Indian” anywhere. I thought surely the fake Indian’s book would have some old-fashioned Indian War-type title. It is, after all, a tome, or should I say, “tome-a-hawk.” “Drums Along the Mystic.” “The Last of the Faux-hicans.” “Forked Tongue: The Elizabeth Warren Story.” “A Tale of Two Teepees.” “Dances with Moonbats.” Instead she calls it, “A Fighting Chance,” a title that seems Eurocentric for the first female Indian in the U.S. Senate, or maybe she no longer is an Indian, because

The Department of Justice has been asked by the CIA to investigate Senate staffers, by the Senate to investigate the CIA, and by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz to investigate the IRS. The DOJ has replied "maybe," "maybe," and "no," respectively. Cruz had asked Justice to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate whether or not the IRS had illegally targeted conservative groups when it began filtering tax-exempt applicants by key words. The segregation of Tea Party and other conservative groups has spurred a nearly year-long crusade by conservative politicians and activists searching for a link back to the White House. With no

Pulitzer Prizes for Russian Spy Stories?

The American media establishment is on the verge of awarding “distinguished” Pulitzer Prizes to National Security Agency (NSA) leaker Edward Snowden’s media mouthpieces, the recipients of his stolen national security documents. Such a move would further confirm the role of the media in helping America’s enemies and adversaries, and undermine whatever credibility the media have left with the American people. Dylan Byers’ story in POLITICO, “Edward Snowden looms over Pulitzer Prizes,” engages in speculation about which media figures receiving the Snowden documents might get a prize. It also plays down Snowden’s debt to the Russian regime, which gave him asylum. Snowden

Top court agrees to review

AUSTIN - The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals on Wednesday agreed to review whether a lower court correctly decided last fall to toss out the prison sentence handed to former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on money-laundering charges. The state´s highest court on criminal matters announced that it would accept a petition asking it to consider whether a 2-1 decision by the Third Court of Appeals overturning DeLay´s criminal case conviction was appropriate. The appellate court in September 2013 tossed a high-profile jury verdict, ruling that "the evidence was legally insufficient to sustain DeLay´s convictions." The news reports read like the script of a cheesy movie. A ship sits at anchor one Sunday night off Cyprus. It holds a cargo that just has to be recovered to support a vital U.S. ally. Navy SEALs approach silently over the water, climb the hull, and take over the ship without firing a shot. Then, in the movies — as in real life — the SEALs begin searching for the critical cargo and find what they came for. In the reality of ship seizures by our special forces, there’s always a something to find. That’s because, in somewhat delicate terms,

A Florida woman, who has an autistic son, says enrolling in ObamaCare was a nightmare. Little did she know. After she got a full-time job with healthcare benefits, she tried cancelling her coverage. That’s when the real nightmare began. Melissa Battles says her ObamaCare experience was a disaster from start to finish. “When I tried to enroll my entire family- I enrolled online – it is very convoluted and it takes a very long time to enroll.” The single mother ultimately qualified for a subsidy, but her application was delayed seemingly forever due to finding coverage for her autistic son. A suburban Boston school district is working with community groups to combat a series of anti-Semitic incidents at elementary and high schools. The Bedford district is addressing incidents that have occurred in recent months, the Boston Globe reported Tuesday, including a community forum set for Thursday. The incidents include a game called “Jail the Jews” at two elementary schools, and swastikas and anti-Semitic graffiti painted on Boston High School and one of the elementary schools, according to the newspaper. A local interfaith group of clergy has created a campaign called “Love Your Neighbor” to combat the phenomenon. The school district “has been

Foreign-policy watchers on Twitter had some fun with the Associated Press when the newswire tweeted this morning: “BREAKING: Vice President Biden says US will respond to any aggression against NATO allies.” It wasn’t exactly “breaking” news that an attack on NATO would elicit a response from NATO. But I think Biden’s proclamation–“breaking” or not–is in fact worth discussing, for two reasons. First, it should be a given that the U.S. will defend its NATO allies, but in the Obama era of resets and red lines, Washington has sought any excuse possible to avoid confrontation, even if it meant reneging on promises

President Obama is so toxic to Democrats that even his own one-time sycophantic aides are saying, “Who?” In fact, the Great Orator who promised to slow the rise of the oceans and heal the planet has all but disappeared on the campaign trail, lost for words that can stop the tsunami set to surge over his Democratic Party. “If he doesn’t get more involved in raising money and making this a choice you lose the Senate,” former press spokesman Robert Gibbs said this week. “And if you lose the Senate, turn out the lights because the party’s over.” Uh, problem: Many of

The words came out of my mouth before I could stop them. “I feel sorry for Obama,” I said. As my wife looked at me in disbelief, I quickly added a correction. “Well, almost.” Beset by failures at home and abroad, the president cuts a lonely and sad figure these days. His aura of grief reflects his profound loss. His worldview crashed headlong into reality, and reality won. Obamaism is dead, may it rest in peace. That’s sad for him, but hold the tears — his loss is mankind’s hope. If Obama wakes from his utopian visions and faces the

As if to underscore the point, no reporters are traveling with the first lady, and she does not plan to give interviews while there," reports the New York Times. Health industry officials say ObamaCare-related premiums will double in some parts of the country, countering claims recently made by the administration. The expected rate hikes will be announced in the coming months amid an intense election year, when control of the Senate is up for grabs. The sticker shock would likely bolster the GOP’s prospects in November and hamper ObamaCare insurance enrollment efforts in 2015. The industry complaints come less than a week after Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius sought to downplay concerns about rising premiums in the healthcare sector. She told lawmakers rates would increase in 2015 but

Government officials now admit the data system and transponder quit communicating after the pilots said things were OK. That means they didn’t lie. The official Malaysian account of the last contacts made to and received by Flight MH370 is unraveling. As it does, the sinister interpretations of what happened in the cockpit of the Boeing 777 become less persuasive. We return to the all-important timeline. Originally, the Malaysians said that the last words from the cockpit—from the copilot, “All right, good night”—were spoken to air traffic controllers as the airplane left Malaysian air space at 1:30am. This week, that timing was significantly changed
