Why Lyndon B. Johnson is the
worst modern president

The Week, by Damon Linker

Original Article

T he competition for worst president since the early 1930s is pretty fierce. But for my money, Lyndon B. Johnson comes in first, winning the contest of awfulness over George W. Bush by a hair. The bloody debacle of the Vietnam War has a lot to do with this judgment (just as Iraq plays a big role in my negative assessment of Bush). According to a recent front-page story in the New York Times, the keepers of Johnson´s legacy fear that I´m not alone. In an effort to rehabilitate his reputation, these Johnson defenders, who include members of his family, have begun

LBJ was a bad president, but he doesn´t come close to FDR. FDR gave Stalin half of Europe in order to allow him create the Soviet Union. He would have given him all of the continent if Churchill hadn´t opposed it. His domestic policies exacerbated and prolonged the depression. One of the worst presidents of all times!

Worst Presidents in American History:

1) FDR
2) LBJ
3) Obama
4) Wilson
5) Carter
6) A. Johnson
7) Harding

The top 3 did the most damage and were powermongers too. Carter was just incompetent but he actually looks good compared to Obama, LBJ, FDR and Wilson.

Hoover, Ford and Bush were three of the most incompetent Presidents of the last century w/a record of governance to prove it. BTW, Bush won squat in Iraq. It was an unmitigated disaster from day 1.

Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) has been waging a campaign demanding safety accountability for the Metro-North railway this week after it was discovered that the MTA has had 139 violations resulting in $552,000 worth of fines over the last ten years. But as he discovered this week, there is also an element of personal responsibility when it comes to commuter train safety. Blumenthal was holding a press conference Friday on the Milford Metro-North station platform when an Amtrak train came barreling into the station and almost knocked him out cold. Just as Milford Mayor Ben Blake was saying, “safety, as you know,

With little fanfare, Vermont is preparing to become the first state to implement a single-payer, government-run health-care system. The Vermont plan, if implemented, would abolish private health insurance in the state and replace it with a taxpayer-funded system under which the state government directly pays doctors and hospitals. Of course the state is having a bit of trouble figuring out how to pay for the program’s estimated $2 billion price tag, considering that the entire state government’s operating budget is currently just $2.7 billion. Currently under consideration is an increase in the state sales tax from 6.9% to 29%. At

More than 50 political leaders from nine states convened for the first time to talk about their joint goal: wresting control of oil-, timber -and mineral-rich lands away from the feds. "It’s simply time," said Rep. Ken Ivory, R-West Jordan, who organized the Legislative Summit on the Transfer for Public Lands along with Montana state Sen. Jennifer Fielder. "The urgency is now."
