West Allis officer dies moments after
giving birth to twins

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, by Jan Uebelherr

Stacie Napoli had rituals for every ultrasound she underwent. She held a St. Anthony medal given to her by her mother, prayed to St. Gerard and held a holy card from her grandfather´s funeral. "You´ve never found anyone who wanted children as much as she did," said her mother, Kerri Livermore. Napoli, who served in Iraq and was a 17-year veteran of the West Allis Police Department, died Monday just moments after giving birth to twins.

My heart goes out to her family. I pray her husband and the 2 babies cherish each other throughout their lives. How sad.

This terrible event occurs so quickly that it can rarely be caught and mitigated. It took the life of the fiancee of a family member after elective surgery.

"Livermore, a geriatric nurse, has been able to care for the babies..."

Probably a pediatric nurse. Geriatric nurse treats OLD people. Very sad story. Hopefully the twins will get bigger, stronger and be a beautiful reminder of the mom who loved them so much.

This is the third story in just the past few weeks of a young woman dying due to blood clots during pregnancy.

I wonder ...

There are so many studies about the long term use of birth control prior to pregnancy and the increased chances of blood clots - but the studies are not widely publicized. Pro-life websites are often the only places I´ve seen any references or links.

So sad. Prayers for the babies and condolences to the family.

Livermore, the geriatric nurse, is her mother.

In this episode, a rare collision of the Haggler and the news. Our letter comes from a couple who have been trying for months to sign up for health insurance through Healthcare.gov, also known as the Obamacare website. And Monday, March 31, is the enrollment deadline, though the administration recently announced exemptions for people who had trouble signing up. [Snip] We have been told on successive calls that there is no logical explanation for this, and that our complaint will be “elevated” and “expedited.” I write this in mid-March. Barack Obama has announced yet another grand initiative to try and prop up an administration crippled and hobbled by its own ineptitude. Remember the stimulus that was supposed to create all those shovel-ready jobs? That didn’t work, so he tried a "green jobs initiative" – another bust. More recently “economic equality” and a minimum-wage increase was shelved by Harry Reid, who could barely get half of his party to sign on to it. And my favorite, the Affordable Care Act, or what I like to call the “if you like your doctor you can keep him” bill …

Jonathan Turley, faithful Obama supporter and liberal professor of constitutional law at Sandra Fluke´s alma mater, Georgetown University Law School, is sounding the alarm that "a system in which a single individual is allowed to rewrite legislation or ignore legislation is a system that borders on authoritarianism." Question for Mr. Turley: what kind of constitutional law professor votes for an inexperienced community organizer who believes that the U.S. Constitution is "fundamentally flawed" in the first place?

Sundays were the hardest day of the week for Peter Tiboris. Weekdays were focused on his business as a wealth management adviser in New York. Saturdays were often spent on the town with a group of close friends or an eligible bachelorette. But on Sundays, the world slowed down, and Mr. Tiboris’s thoughts turned inward. “Sundays are pretty lonely for a single person,” said Mr. Tiboris, 34, who yearned for someone with whom he could effortlessly share life’s quiet moments, someone who could make him smile just by being in the same room.

The debacle of ObamaCare may do what conservatives have been trying to do for a long time: show ordinary Americans the depth of government incompetence. Businesses have grasped since FDR the sting of the quip "I´m from the government -- I´m here to help you." The hyper-regulation by the federal government of nearly every aspect of commerce and industry through an ever-growing leviathan of laws, regulations, judicial decisions, and executive actions has stunted and even crippled huge swaths of private enterprise in America.

The two major political parties´ presidential nomination campaigns will begin before we know it. The Republican nomination seems wide open, but Mrs. William Jefferson Clinton seems headed for a bloodless coronation. It need not be so, and it should not be so. [Snip] Now consider this: twenty states have "open" primaries, in which voters from either political party can cast a ballot in the Democrat presidential primary.

Liberal opinion writers who feel duty-bound to defend President Obama’s signature health-care reform law have been quite creative in trying to blame the GOP for the flaws in what was a law passed by Democrats against bipartisan and public opposition. The most recent narrative, that Republicans are “sabotaging” the law, is quite clearly nonsensical. But they are opinion writers, so we can understand their efforts to spin the policy failure.[Snip]This whole process, of advocating for the concerns of their constituents and then taking part in the legislative process, is a pretty basic part of congressional work.

Rush Limbaugh has come to the pragmatic conclusion that, based on the current facts (i.e., no absolute smoking gun linking any of the current scandals directly to President Obama), that impeachment would not only be futile, but also counterproductive. If Betsey McCaughey is correct (and I bet she is, because she has not only read the entire ObamaCare bill, she has written a book about it), Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan publicly humiliated herself during the oral arguments on the Hobby Lobby case, revealing that she either did not read the law, or failed to comprehend it if she did so. Writing in the New York Sun, McCaughey lays out what is wrong with the Justice’s declaration about Obamacare: she asserted that the statute itself mandates provision of birth control. Not one word in the Affordable Care Act guarantees health plans will cover birth control products.

President Bill Clinton´s guilty conscience over his affair with Monica Lewinsky – and a desire to repair his shattered reputation by using the State of the Union address – set his speechwriters an unenviable task, newly released archive papers reveal. The former president appeared to be trying to butter up his wife, Hillary Clinton, out of guilt – or perhaps to fool her – before the scandal broke.
