This is what a policy looks like when it dies and goes to hell. The FT reports that violence is ramping up in Syria, with Assad agents using devastating “barrel bombs” against rebel areas. More: According to the opposition Syrian National Council, 20,000 people have been killed in barrel-bomb campaigns since the start of the conflict in 2011. A Turkish official said about 2,000 had been killed since peace talks began in Geneva last month. The Damascus regime has failed to offer an explanation for the bombing, but insists in its official media and during the Geneva talks that it is

I agree with Postor #2. I read the headline and thought this story was talking about Knockout games in American cities being perpetrated by the group that American Media dare not speak their name. Keep moving, folks. Nothing to see here. We have a lot more "success stories" to report that are occurring under our noble Dear Leader´s beneficent rule. We cannot afford to pause and cover every single one! LOL :-)

Obama is a failure. Everything he touches goes to Hades. Point to one policy, situation, decision that has been good for this country. Not content to stop there, he presses on to global incompetency. Those who support him are outright idiots who have sold their souls to a philosophy that brings nothing but destruction.

Do we really want Obama in charge of an operation in Syria? We have a weak anti-war activist in the WH and the world knows it. It is believed that he lacks resolve. Many enemies have seen this as a brief window of opportunity while America has its pants down.

This article is wa-a-ay to complimentary of Obama, the man child. Claiming he has two sides in his high brain: one Wilsonian and the other Jeffersonian. One part wants to set the world right and the other wants to keep the US neutral. Thus his problems in foreign policy. Nonsense! And what an insult to 2 presidents who knew how to lead. Our current POTUS is a self-centered, ego maniac suffering from either schizophrenia or multiple personality disorder. His delusions of grandeur have caused this entire mess. And not to sound mean but Syria is the libs problem. Where´s Code Pink? The Women in Black? Cindy Sheehan? They don´t care ... I don´t care.

Americans do not understand war as the WWII generation did. Whether you like Assad and his regime or not, the people under his rule face extermination by rebel forces. They cannot surrender and will do whatever they have to do to win, just as America used fire bombs and atomic bombs on civilians and wiped out entire cities in WWII. Assad’s forces will pound the rebels to dust along with whole cities if necessary to survive. We have done no less.

The article mentions barrel bombs which led to some internet searching. This stinks of a misinformation campaign to me. You have a distant shot of a helicopter, then Allahu Akbar, then a falling drum, then an overhead view of a city and finally an explosion. The next scene is of a little girl being passed to a loved one and being told she is dead. Or a pair of legs extending from the rubble (same legs by the way) and are told she died an hour later.

Is the Syrian force so far gone that they no longer fire weapons from helicopters and a forced to push out barrel bombs?

Should the US be supporting either side of this mess? Why?

Like other Ldotters above, I, too, thought the article was going to be about the out-of-control crime taking place in American cities such as Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, L.A, etc. While I wasn´t disappointed that the article didn´t touch on American cities and their crime waves, I was disgusted by Mead trying to equate Obama to Wilson (god forbid) and Thomas Jefferson. Wilson was a terrible President who refrained from acting against Germany in WWI until it was almost too late. If Wilson had acted against Germany in say 1915, perhaps there wouldn´t have been a WWII. Maybe Japan wouldn´t have concluded that America was a "paper tiger" and decided to attack Pearl Harbor.

Americans have made some really stupid decisions in electing Presidents. Washington, Jefferson, Adams (both), Madison, Monroe, Reagan, and George W. Bush were some of their better choices. Don´t condemn me for including Bush 43 - just consider what we could have gotten - Al Gore and John F. Kerry.

His policies here and abroad divide peoples & thus result in failure to foster peace, productivity and prosperity. 0bama could have achieved positive steps toward securing respect for Life, Liberty and Justice for ALL but instead his ´selfie´ policies now reveal him to be a failed Pres.

Agreed with all Ldotters, the headline clearly suggested
death in Chicago, Detroit, democrat controlled cities.

But for informative, world wide, daily news of Islamic supremacism and almost uncountable violent deaths
in the backward, ancient rule, nations of the east, read ROBERT SPENCER´S "JIHAD WATCH", a daily aggregation of the reality of this ancient ideology that our own TV news actors are deathly afraid to touch.

The similarity between Marxist Leninist rules of Communism, and the strict guiding rules of the ideology of Islam, is too frightening for even a loudmouth like Bill O´Reilly to touch.

Sadly, the Dianes, Adams, Steves, and even the O´Reillys, are limited (or is it brainwashed? ) regarding
informing America of the absolute demands of the strictly obeyed Islamic ideology.

Advice to Democrats: Don´t say ´recovery´

WASHINGTON - Election-year memo to Democratic candidates: Don´t talk about the economic recovery. It´s a political loser. So say Democratic strategists in a blunt declaration that such talk skips over "how much trouble people are in, and doesn´t convince them that policymakers really understand or are even focusing on the problems they continue to face." In addition, Stan Greenberg, James Carville and others wrote that in head-to-head polling tests the mere mention of the word "recovery" is trumped by a Republican assertion that the Obama administration has had six years to get the economy moving and its policies haven´t worked. President Obama has warned that Iran is not open for business, even as the United States has loosened some of its punishing economic sanctions as part of an interim nuclear pact. Yet, on Tuesday morning, Iran had an unlikely visitor: a plane, owned by the Bank of Utah, a community bank in Ogden that has 13 branches throughout the state. Bearing a small American flag on its tail, the aircraft was parked in a highly visible section of Mehrabad Airport in Tehran. Saying they can no longer ignore the rising prices of health care, some of the most influential medical groups in the nation are recommending that doctors weigh the costs, not just the effectiveness of treatments, as they make decisions about patient care. The shift, little noticed outside the medical establishment but already controversial inside it, suggests that doctors are starting to redefine their roles, from being concerned exclusively about individual patients to exerting influence on how health care dollars are spent. “We understand that we doctors should be and are stewards of the larger society as well as of the patient in

Hillary Clinton may end up deciding she wants to spend the 935 days until election 2016 making corporate speeches and spoiling her grandchild. Recent events have exposed weaknesses in Clinton’s supposedly impregnable armor, gaps through which a Democratic or Republican challenger could damage, perhaps even defeat her. This week’s Fox News poll has Clinton’s favorable rating at its lowest point in six years. She is at 49 percent favorable, 45 percent unfavorable—similar to her

President Barack Obama used his Thursday press conference to diagnose Republicans as fear-mongering, spiteful, obstinate, petulant and obstructive, as he again declared mission-accomplished in his effort to put the nation’s health-care under government control. “I recognize that their party is going through the stages of grief — anger and denial and all that stuff — and we’re not at acceptance yet,” Obama told reporters, where he announced that his Obamacare network had claimed 8 million subscribers. Three years into that budget showdown, Mr. Ryan and his Republican colleagues are winning. Government spending has slowed, and Mr. Obama’s plans for higher taxes and higher spending have fallen by the wayside. “The discretionary spending has in fact been driven by Republicans post-2010 clamping down,” said Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a former director of the Congressional Budget Office who is now president of the

Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive.
