Romney on GOP attack
Boston Herald, by Hillary Chabot

Mitt Romney — the GOP’s uptight 2012 presidential nominee known for his family-man image and awkward sound bites — just might turn into the Republican Party’s top ?attack dog in 2016. “He will be the one who carries the fight and makes the arguments and shows the contrasts,” said Tom Rath, a New Hampshire GOP consultant who helped Romney’s 2012 bid. “He fills the void while we are waiting to select a nominee, and he can be a very effective and compelling spokesperson who doesn’t have to be anything but be himself.” The praise comes ?after Romney yesterday ?blasted former President Bill

I REALLY do wish Romney would cut our the, Oh, aren´t I a nice guy? crap.

I prefer a guy who´s a bit rough hewn, instead of a dancer around the edges, I suppose.

This is not a bad idea but already cold water is being thrown on it. Many Republicans will not be able to bring themselves to accept this help from Romney. Every time he speaks up for us people on this site want him to shut up and disappear. What sense that makes, I have no idea but if we were more practical we would not be such losers..

What does "on GOP attack" mean. Is he going on the attack to help the whole party OR is he going to attack the more conservative wing of our party? This is a plausible question. He is part of the establishment and they have vowed to crush the Tea Party conservatives.

Just remember the group led by Cornyn, Boehner, Canter and McConnell tells the media constantly how the Tea Party is wrecking their plans to recapture the Senate. Inquiring minds want to know prior to cheering for Mitt......again.

Mitt Romney is a perfect gentleman in the style of Ronald Reagan. Unlike so many in the political arena their they have CLASS and CHARACTER. And lets not forget that a major problem, perhaps THE major problem in the world today, is the the declining culture. Romney´s moral stature is unsurpassed. That matters. We need many more like him in government. Unfortunately, people like Romney get dragged through the slime by the opposition and the media, including on sites like this one where folks should know better.

The world in 2012 was not like when Ronald Reagan was elected. Romney had an opportunity to stand tough against Obama but he chose to bring a squirt gun to the gun fight. After four years there was plenty to use against Obama without even breaking a sweat. I´m not interested in hearing what he has to say today.

Gov. Romney was the Republican nominee for President. In most people´s eyes, that gives him stature enough to speak out against Democrats, and the gentlemanly way he does it, added to his credibility as a man of excellent character, will represent conservative values in a positive light. Since many things he said about Obamacare were proven correct, and since the "Mitt" film has softened up his image considerably, that also makes him a more sympathetic figure. Plus...he has nothing more to lose, since he won´t be running again. This doesn´t mean he will be the main voice, nor does it mean others can´t speak out more strongly, but he could be helpful. Why not welcome the help?

Romney should have been the nominee in 2008. What we needed then was a good business administrator to get things done.

What we needed in 2012 was a warrior willing to destroy his opposition. Which is what Romney did during the primaries, but failed to do in the general election.

What we need in 2016 is a leader, warrior, administrator and forward thinking candidate that can make the argument, plan for the future and restore the republic. 2014 and 2016 are the last elections for the electorate to correct the course through the ballot box. The next republican candidate must understand that civil unrest, civil disobedience and civil war are in the future. The GOP candidate must also understand that this is exactly what the end game is for the democrats.

#11. Willard is no more a reflection of Ronald Reagan than Neville Chamberlain was of Churchill. Likely your definition of a conservative is someone who wears a tie, blazer, laces his shoes, has good breeding, nice manners and went to the right schools. Why of course. Willard, like his old man George, along w/Bill Scranton and Nelson Rockefeller were the left wing R progressive establishment. This gang of losers was viscerally contemptuous and hostile to principled conservatism, as is Willard, whose governance is testament to that cold reality. He is now getting face time because he´s a useful idiot for the left to incite more sturm und drang within a GOP already very seriously conflicted.

It was the best of hugs; it was the worst of hugs. Or so the description might have gone had Charlie Crist labored a bit longer on his new memoir, in which the erstwhile governor of Florida—who is now campaigning for the job again—relives the fateful embrace with President Obama that he claims sunk his political fortunes in 2009. Rather than try for style, Crist renders the moment with the racy, staccato gusto that one might expect from a pulpy romance. “We shook hands. The new president leaned forward and gave me a hug. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators.
