Mitch McConnell on debt ceiling:
I ‘protect’ the country

Politico, by Burgess Everett

Original Article

Posted By:ketchuplover, 2/16/2014 1:14:56 AM

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said he voted to advance a clean debt-ceiling bill this week because his job is “to protect the country” when he can. The Republican leader said at a Friday campaign event in Louisville, Ky., that he has long preferred making structural changes to fiscal policy as a condition to raising the debt ceiling. (Snip) McConnell and most of his leadership team voted to break a filibuster demanded by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), to the ire of many conservatives and surprise of Capitol Hill, given his recently stated opposition to any clean lift of the debt ceiling.

Let´s hope Kentucky votes for anyone other than McConnell. Grimes might as well be elected. Senate votes would be the same. Just none of the lies and drama.

When our currency fails, we have crushing inflation, and our crushing debt with nothing to show for it, will he come take his victory lap?

If you won´t fight for what is right, get out of the way and let someone else try.

It is clear that McConnell has made it clear Americans owes him a debt for the good job he has done. We should make good on his claim and send him into retirement.

McConnel and the Republicans have settled on a fatally flawed strategy. They believe that by continuing to agree to raising the debt ceiling they are "avoiding economic catastrophe." Unfortunately, they aren´t avoiding it, they are only delaying it. There´s a big difference. And they don´t seem to either understand it or are too cowardly to deal with it now.

Here´s the problem with this strategy. The debt keeps getting bigger and thus guaranteeing that the catastrophe will be even bigger when it does hit eventually. And they are also guaranteeing that it won´t hit during Obama´s reign. So he´ll skate and continue to strut like a cool dude. No, it will hit when there´s a Republican President and the catastrophe can be blamed on him.

Meanwhile, Mitch and his fellow golden parachute club members just want to delay the inevitable until their parachutes can deploy safely away from the splatter.

Mitch is hanging is future on one of Obama´s lies which has worked every time to negate any opposition on spending by equating the lack of a "clean" debt ceiling increase with default. This is such nonsense and the fact that the GOP does not debunk it shows they are totally incompetent. For the Zillionth time GOP Make payments on the debt with the current government income while it is still larger than the payments. If you need to raise the debt to make a payment on the debt what is the point of making a payment on it by borrowing more than you are paying? What banker is it that loans you a hundred dollars to get you to make a payment of fifty on your debt. I get so tired of screaming at the radio or the screen with these incompetent GOP who say things like Mitch is saying and obviously thinking we will swallow the Obama lie just like he has!

Dittoes #9. The fact that the Republican old guard does not refute but perpetrates the canard that the debt ceiling is tied to default, is another blatant example of their complicity in the socialist destruction of the U.S.A. They use the communist lies to spin their excuses.

FTA: “’We were confronted with a clean debt ceiling in the Senate or default. I believe I have to act in the best interests of the country, and every time we’ve been confronted with a potential crisis, the guy you’re looking at is the one who stepped up to solve the problem,’ McConnell told reporters, according to Associated Press.”
Translation: I believe I have to act in the best interests of the Cartel Party, and every time we’ve been confronted with a potential opportunity to slow down the growth of the debt or wound Obamacare, the guy you’re looking at is the one who stepped up to collaborate with the enemies of freedom.

FTA: “McConnell then explained his leading roles in evading the fiscal cliff two years ago and his work with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to reopen the government and avert default last October.”

The Vichy French had nothing on these Quislings of ours.

If in the end you won´t be able to make big changes now, then get what you can. I can´t believe that House Republicans when confronted with the prospect of having to vote for bailing out Health Insurance companies would do so. MAKE SOME NOISE. Even the ´LoFo´ people would get behind that. And don´t you think that would send a bit of a ripple through the ´Hawaiian Healthcare Movement!´ Don´t cause Economic Armageddon, take as far as you can, and if you can´t get anything, then concede. Mickey Rooney, the pint-sized actor who was one of MGM’s giant box office attractions in the late ’30s and early ’40s, died on Sunday. He was 93. As adept at comedy as drama and an excellent singer and dancer, Rooney was regarded as the consummate entertainer. During a prolific career on stage and screen that spanned eight decades (“I’ve been working all my life, but it seems longer,” he once said), he was nominated for four Academy Awards and received two special Oscars, the Juvenile Award in 1939 (shared with Deanna Durbin) and one in 1983 for his body of work.

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day.
