First Lady Michelle Obama apparently halted private-jet traffic at Aspen airport as she landed for a weekend of skiing while President Obama headed to California. Michelle, with her daughters, Sasha and Malia, was expected to touch down in Aspen Friday to spend Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day weekend away from her husband, who was meeting late Friday with Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Mrs. Obama’s arrival amid tight security was expected to delay the arrival of other wealthy vacationers on private jets at the Colorado ski resort. One source said, “Some of those heading into Aspen were whining that

Ah, Aspen, the playground of the elite. They elected Barry so they have nothing to whine about when the Wookie takes another special vacation on the taxpayer´s dime.

Millions of Americans are slipping and sliding to work to pay for Obama vacations.

Were the Obamas frequent visitors to Aspen before they were crowned? Had either of them ever been to Aspen? Or been skiing?

These people are so brazen in their contempt for working people in this country.

As for disrupting Aspen airport. Good. Probably inconvenienced mostly big Dem donors.

I live about 45 miles NW of DC. We got 18 inches of powdery snow on Thursday and it´s snowing again right now. There are numerous ski resorts within an hour´s helicopter ride of DC - in western Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, but I guess they aren´t elite enough for Mooch and her darlings.

I´ve run out of words for how much I loathe, detest, abhor and viscerally hate those vermin.

Once a year Mooch and the girls dress up in ski togs and "hit the slopes". Once a year.

This is a bunny run photo op or ? An attempt to appear to be part of "the life" that they so envy.

No one can ski at any reasonable level when one goes to a ski resort for three days each year.

Another attempt to look chic. Instead she resembles The Incredible Hulk. Ski clothes don´t do much for big, sturdy women with enormous thighs and rumps.

Ah yes. Liberals decry the extravagance and wealth of the elites, except if its one of their own where public officials can emulate lifestyles of the rich and famous at taxpayer expense. She and her husband really are more suited to third world dictatorships like the one in which O grew up (more or less).

This disgusting... am I allowed to use the word "scum..." of a first sasquatch needs to go to jail, not Aspen. And who told her she was welcome there anyway? She should be trying to get her law license back and becoming a public defender in Chicago, but that is the LAST thing she will EVER do.

And I can´t imagine watching that huge caboose of hers covered in skin tight spandex hurtling down the mountain with her sullen spawn in tow. Ugly.

Not to be snobbish, but I swear if fashion dictated that sitting in an igloo eating blubber was the thing to do, that´s where she´d be. Phony cow.

The Snow Queen goes off to Aspen to play in the white stuff, and Husby goes off to Rancho Mirage and stays at the Sunnylands Estate to play golf for a few days. Separate vacations, millions of dollars catering to their every whim, and both cities are tied up like terrorists in Afghanistan. The egotistic self centered entitled mentality of these two is staggering. Meanwhile the east coast is joblocked in a polar vortex and the nation is brainlocked in a vortex of complete stupidity.

I am so beyond disgusted I don´t know the next level of words. This woman is a classless, revolting, muslim pig. Just the thought of this ugly woman and her hulking surly, always mean looking daughters on skis is enough to make the strongest run for a barf bucket. If anyone has ever flown into Aspen he or she knows this is one small airport and even a brief closing would cause problems. Does the Sasquatch care...not on your tintype. As to how they´d fit with the snooty Aspen crowd? The liberal Hollyweird demonRATs who have homes there wiill kiss her ring then laugh behind her back, and the rest will view them as skunks at a lawn party. The townies could care less as long as the $$ roll in. In any case, if the crude and unmannered Mooch thinks she´s revered, admired and even viewed as some kind of fashion icon all she has to do is a poll to see who copies her clothes among anyone with even a modicum of taste and style. A. No one. She´s FLOTUS for now and is grifting as many vacations and other perks as she can manage and at a rate that is approaching quantum speed.

First Lady Laura Bush always flew commercial for personal trips. I have very close personal friends who, while in uniform, were allowed into the First Class lounges of certain airlines while traveling on a deployment. Oftentimes Mrs Bush would meet with those troops.

I wish one day, there would be an airport administrator who would look at the Secret Service when they said, ´The First Lady is arriving.´ and say, ´So what?´

Has Obama ever been around the white powder ?
I men other than putting it up his nose ?
Revolting extravagance aside ,
Father of the Year obviously prefers spending his free time with other men rather than his daughters.
I saw a clip of Barry being interviewed by Barkley to be aired before the NBA All Star game.
Barry was all big smile and goofy gushing about LeBron James.
You will never see Barry smile like that around Michelle.
It´s reserved for Reggie Love and other men.
Barry slipped in a sloppy dialect trying to compete with Barkley´s slurring to demonstrate his street cred.
" Going " wasn´t even his
typical " Gonna " , but, something even more urban.
It´s going to be a looong three years of excess and extravagance and profligate spending

Nancy Reagan bought a set of fine china and she was vilified for her imperial airs. (I guess she had no idea that use-once sugar plates would have conveyed her solidarity with "the struggle.") Nancy is still our First Lady.

Billionaire hedge fund operator and “green” energy magnate Tom Steyer has pledged $100 million in the 2014 election cycle to help Democratic candidates who oppose the Keystone pipeline and who favor “green” energy over fossil fuels. Steyer claims to be a man of principle who has no financial interest in the causes he supports, but acts only for the public good. That is a ridiculous claim: Steyer is the ultimate rent-seeker who depends on government connections to produce subsidies and mandates that make his “green” energy investments profitable. What happens when presidents lie? The American public has had plenty of experience with this in recent years. Liar-president could be the new hyphenate occupation like writer-producer or architect-contractor. Almost every president has shaded things a bit, but three modern ones have been unabashed bull artists — Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton and, of course, Barack Obama. Clinton ultimately got a pass for his prevarications. Nixon didn’t. Neither deserved one. But our current liar-president deserves one even less, because his lies have been of substance, affecting policy. Nixon and Clinton just lied in self-defense — normal human cowardice. When President Obama trumpeted the 8 million figure representing people who had signed up for ObamaCare, he didn’t just declare it a victory. He declared the debate over — and told Republicans “it’s well time to move on.” Now, we understand the eagerness of politicians to declare debates over. It’s certainly easier than defending ObamaCare’s broken promises, or even providing the breakdowns behind that 8 million top-line number that would let us measure if the program is getting the sign-ups it needs. Increasingly, however, it seems that the “shut up and move on” trope has become the go-to response of liberals on

A disturbing story out of the Sooner State this week, noted by Doug Mataconis at Outside the Beltway. Under the terms of a recently passed bill, expected to be signed by Governor Mary Fallin, homeowners who install their own private solar or wind turbine energy resources and sell some of the juice back to energy companies will be paying a fee for the privilege. Utility customers who want to install rooftop solar panels or small wind turbines could face extra charges on their bills after legislation passed the Oklahoma House of Representatives on Monday. Over 2 billion people are celebrating Easter today, April 20, as the calendars of Western and Eastern churches coincide this year, and these billions of faithful people are celebrating HOPE. The Easter message begins with the hopeful news that death has been overcome by life, that hatred has been overcome by love, and that sorrow has been overcome by joy. The elements of the story involve women arriving at a garden tomb and finding it empty, but even better, meeting the risen Lord, the embodiment of life and love. Their lives are changed forever and so are the lives of many, many

WHAT ARE the implications for Taiwan of China’s continued rise? Not today. Not next year. No, the real dilemma Taiwan will confront looms in the decades ahead, when China, whose continued economic growth seems likely although not a sure thing, is far more powerful than it is today. Contemporary China does not possess significant military power; its military forces are inferior, and not by a small margin, to those of the United States. Beijing would be making a huge mistake to pick a fight with the American military nowadays. China, in other words, is constrained by the present global balance

The immediate "crisis" portion of the standoff involving the federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy over his cattle grazing on federal land ended last week. Whether this will be end of Bundy´s troubles with the BLM, who have been in court with him over his refusal to pay fees to them for decades, remains to be seen, with the Bundys reporting that they´ve received registered mail from the BLM this week that they haven´t opened yet. I blogged about a lot of the factual background of the conflict here, with links to some relevant court documents. This story

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

WASHINGTON — Daniel Swalm was researching his family when he came across a disturbing episode in immigration history. That discovery would lead to a move in the U.S. Senate to apologize for action the nation took more than a century ago. Swalm discovered that under an obscure 1907 law, his grandmother Elsie, born and raised in Minnesota, was stripped of her U.S. citizenship after marrying an immigrant from Sweden. Swalm had never heard of the Expatriation Act that required a U.S.-born woman who married a foreigner to "take the nationality of her husband." Swalm, who lives in Minneapolis, found out about the law

This “Open Letter to the Friends of Ukraine,” by a guest columnist who writes under the pen name of Irina Gokieli, dated April 19, offers the author’s pessimistic scenario of forthcoming events in what Vladimir Putin now calls “NewRussia.” “NewRussia” encompasses southeastern Ukraine and parts of Moldova. She predicts an invasion by regular Russian troops near the end of the first week of May under the pretext of restoring order, although she does not rule out, as an alternative, an alliance of Putin with certain Ukrainian politicians and oligarchs. Notably the author makes a persuasive case that the long-term consequences

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s

If the Rev. John DeBonville could preach a sermon to lift the souls of churchgoers across America, his message would be simple: Stop dressing so tacky for church. DeBonville has heard about the “come as you are” approach to dressing down for Sunday service, but he says the Sabbath is getting too sloppy. When he scans the pews of churches, DeBonville sees rows of people dressed in their Sunday worst. They saunter into church in baggy shorts, flip-flop sandals, tennis shoes and grubby T-shirts. Some even slide into the pews carrying coffee in plastic foam containers as if they’re going to Starbucks. “It’s like

President Obama asserts that 8 million people have signed up for Obamacare, as though that were something to be proud of. In fact, Obamacare has always been a fiasco from a fiscal perspective–a black hole of subsidies and expanded Medicaid, with largely fictitious mechanisms in place to pay for it. As the number of subsidized participants grows, the disaster gets worse. Charles Blahous explains: Our national discussion…is missing the truly significant story here; what is unfolding before our eyes is a colossal fiscal disaster, poised to haunt legislators and taxpayers for decades to come. It is quite possible that the ACA is

“On the third day, he rose again.” That line, from the Nicene Creed, is a foundational statement of Christian belief. It declares that three days after Jesus died on the cross, he was resurrected, a glimmer of the eternal life promised to believers. It’s the heart of the Easter story in seven little words. But how that statement is interpreted is the source of some of the deepest rifts in Christianity — and a stumbling block for some Christians, and more than a few skeptics. Did Jesus literally come back from the dead in a bodily resurrection, as many traditionalist
