Demonic Possession:
Real Or Mental Illness?

CBS - KDKA-TV Pittsburgh, by Andy Sheehan

Original Article

Posted By:NYC RAL, 2/13/2014 12:41:03 PM

Is demonic possession real or the manifestation of mental illness? In assisting priests in nearly 100 exorcisms, Adam Blai has become a true believer in good and evil, God and the devil. "If you’ve seen the things in the Gospels played out in front of you, it ceases to become faith. It’s knowledge,” says Blai. Former Allegheny County commissioner Bob Cranmer says he shares that same knowledge. He says his home was possessed. “I’ve seen it; I’ve seen crucifixes bent in half repeatedly. I’ve seen Rosary beads torn apart. That doesn’t happen,” said Cranmer. “That’s an evil. That’s not Casper

Comments:
There is an associated article describing the turn-of-the-century house by former Allegheny County commissioner Bob Cranmer after he, his wife and their four kids bought the house in 1988. He mentions an image moving through the house with a repulsive, acrid smell.

How can anyone seriously doubt the reality of demonic possession when considering the pure unalloyed evil that is Barak Obama.

Both. I know a priest who has done exorcisms. He´s seen cases of mental illness, but he has seen real and palpable evil. He´s a very level headed man and not one to go off on a tangent, so when he says he has seen the demonic, I believe him.

William Peter Blatty´s novel The Exorcist) and the 1973 movie were fiction, but demonic possession is real, if uncommon. (It doesn´t have much in common with the Regan character in the movie.) Christians were, among many other things, commanded by our Lord, with the Lord acting through us, to cast out demons. But the activity can be dangerous, and the exorcist´s faith must be very strong. Sometimes the possessed have the strength of several people, and can injure or kill bystanders. Exorcism is not something to be trifled with. God is much stronger than Satan and his demons, but people, even basically good people, in the natural are not.

The following prayer is displayed on a plaque on the wall of my den (right next to the gun rack):

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray.
And do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits
who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.
For who is like unto God? Amen

The last question is the meaning of the name "Micha-El," and the answer is, "No one."

The prayer itself was composed by Pope Leo XIII after he had a vision that God had given Satan permission to attack the Catholic Church during the 20th century. The prayer was routinely said at daily masses until Vatican II. And what happened then...?

#18 - it´s still recited after Mass in some parishes after dismissal.

At EWTN´s website, it explains why it was removed, (devotional vs. liturgical) and that in 1994 JPII urged Catholics to take up again the praying of the Prayer to St. Michael in the battle of our times "against the forces of darkness and against the spirit of this world."

#21, a person indwelt by the Holy Spirit cannot be demon possessed. Satan and his sadistic servants cannot enter a person´s soul unless that person in some way opens the door: gives them the key or the password, so to speak: some form of cooperation. Satan cannot break in "from the outside" without help "from the inside."

A demon can assault a godly person exteriorly --- as he did Job, St. John Vianney, St(Padre)Pio, and even Jesus --- but cannot actually invade them.

Why does God allow His adversary this ability to trouble us? This whole Earth is a battleground between Good and Evil. Everyone must take sides. It´s what this earthly life is about. This is war.

#21 we have all heard growing up not to play with matches. Unfortunately, my brother did not head the warning forty years ago. My parents bedroom set caught fire because the paper towel covered plastic spoon smoldered after he blew it out and hid it under their bed to avoid getting in trouble. Today, people either denying the existence of the evil one or thinking they can play around and be entertained open a nasty can of worms when they lift the lid. Ouija boards, tarot cards, fortune telling, and the list goes on... are all "switches" to turn on evil as we would flip the wall switch to turn on the ceiling light before entering a room. As harmless as that light switch is the electric current could kill you if your handles the bare wires. You are not a scientist, electrical engineer or an electrician but you flip the switch up and it just works. The same occurs with the items I mentioned above. You don´t have to understand how they work but as simple and entertaining as may they appear they should not be anywhere near you or in the possession of your family members or friends. If these items are available they are the key to unlock all kinds of evil responsible for so much of the bad we see around us today. Take a look around us and see the influence of good and the influence of evil. We are given a choice between accepting good or evil. A blessing or a curse. As for me and my household we chose LIFE.
