Flout Gun Registration Law

The Courant [Hartford, CT], by Dan Haar

Everyone knew there would be some gun owners flouting the law that legislators hurriedly passed last April, requiring residents to register all military-style rifles with state police by Dec. 31. But few thought the figures would be this bad. That 50,000 figure could be as little as 15 percent of the rifles classified as assault weapons owned by Connecticut residents, according to estimates by people in the industry, including the Newtown-based National Shooting Sports Foundation. No one has anything close to definitive figures, but the most conservative estimates place the number of unregistered assault weapons well above 50,000, and perhaps

Idiots--they could have looked a few miles north and guessed that this might happen. Even the semi-neutered Canadians failed to go along with such a massive registration scheme. And BTW, if, as the "gun safety" crowd keeps insisting, registration does not equal confiscation, why does Mr State Official Lawlor say that "the idea is to have fewer of these weapons in circulation" ?

#4, great question!
Muskets were used by the Continental Army - so I guess those are "military style".

And anyone that has taken, for example, a 1903 Springfield and "sported it" for use as a hunting rifle... well that´s still "military style", isn´t it?

Hurrah for those in Connecticut that refuse to comply!

The United States has been at war in Afghanistan longer than any conflict in our history. Regardless of what one might think of the war in terms of strategic value, it has been a brutal, deadly conflict, seemingly without end. But as U.S. forces prepare for the conflict’s end, we can already see the changes to U.S. casualty rates. Indeed, the month that just ended last night, March 2014, marked an extraordinary milestone: as Hayes Brown noted, it was “the first time in more than a decade that there were zero U.S. fatalities among American troops engaging in combat.” In Iraq, the

The Bay Area Toll Authority spent $9.4 million to build a temporary entrance so the Bay Bridge´s bike path could be ready when the new eastern span opened to traffic in September. And now - after less than seven months - the half-mile-long connector is being torn down to make way for a new, permanent gateway. That puts the cost to provide temporary bike and pedestrian access to the bridge at about $47,000 a day.
