The Senate Just Passed The
Debt Ceiling Bill After A Dramatic,
Hour-Long Vote

Business Insider, by Brett LoGiurato

Original Article

The Senate narrowly voted to advance — and, eventually, pass — the House of Representatives-passed debt-ceiling increase , after Democrats spent a long time on the floor trying to wrangle more Republican votes. In the end, the measure cleared rather easily, 67-31. The vote on final passage was 55-43. (Snip) Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) voted to break a potential filibuster on the bill, leading to final passage. Several other Republicans ended up joining them. The Senate vote started at 1:56 p.m. ET. More than 40 minutes later, only three Republicans had supported the legislation. It

Tonight I´ll have to make a point to apologize to my 9 year old for all the damage these "leaders" have done to her future.

We. Are. Hosed.

John Cornyn has done it to us again! Reid and Obama can count of Cornyn to be on their side.

See example (Molly) below how Cornyn betrayed us.

And we would want to keep McConnell and Cornyn in office, why? With them in the leadership, what would be the point of a GOP majority?

Oh wait.

John Cornyn, once again standing up for his fellow DC republicans and Harry Reid.

And #3, NOT Stockman! We need to elect a conservative! I´m leaning towards Stovall, but I´m not there yet.

When the individual cannot pay his/her maxed-out credit card bill, I would like to see the creditor that would raise his/her borrowing limit. The individual feels the pain of spending beyond the limit swiftly and mercilessly in the form of collection letters and telephone calls.

It just galls me that the federal goobermint is not held accountable for its bills as the taxpayers are.

#5 You are exactly right. We keep hearing we have to have the 2014 elections on Obamacare and that it is essential in order to get a GOP majority in the House and Senate. But, so what if we get both the House and Senate, they won´t fight Obama on anything They will give in repeatedly and say :we´ll fight on the next issue" That´s their track record. They cave to the media and the democrats. especially the NE Rhinos

John Cornyn votes with the democrats in DC, again, while telling the folks back home that he is a conservative. Mr. Cornyn has millions from establishment GOP and will win his contest in Texas against a tea party candidate, who is broke, and never seen, but has been demonized as crazy by Cornyn and friends. I suppose Cornyn considers his opponent crazy because every vote his opponent has cast has been against Obama.

Not that I trust them but the Republican leadership has a point. The voters have spoken by re-electing 0bama and keeping Harry Reid as Senate Leader. This is not the place to fight the fight. We cannot change the wasteful ways of our profligate government by denying it funds in this manner. The Republicans must go back to the people and return with authority to trim government to within its means. That is the only way. Otherwise we will play into 0bama´s hands and lose everything.
199 Republican caucus members voting against is a powerful political statement that carries the message but does not do the damage of default. Boehner is crafty. He is not as stupid as some think.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Pete Ricketts was officially endorsed on Friday morning by former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who spoke before a wildly enthusiastic crowd at the Heartland Events Center in Grand Island. Palin was joined in that endorsement by former Republican Gov. Kay Orr, who has been working on Ricketts’ behalf within GOP circles but endorsed his candidacy in a very public way on Friday. In giving their endorsements to Ricketts, Palin and Orr formed a mutual admiration society. Orr said she and her late husband, Bill, were driving home from Iowa when a talk radio program was

President Obama on Saturday continued his election-year assault on the House GOP’s latest budget proposal, telling Americans the plan would “raise taxes on middle-class families with kids” and cut crucial programs while giving more handouts to the rich. In his weekly address, Mr. Obama made his case — without explicitly saying so — why voters should elect more Democrats in this November’s midterm elections and contrasted the GOP plan with his party’s priorities. “This week, the Republicans in Congress put forward a very different budget … it shrinks opportunity and makes it harder for Americans who work hard to get

A federal proposal requiring more efficiency from wood-burning stoves has ignited a debate between the Obama administration and lawmakers who oppose the new regulations, arguing the rules impose an unfair burden on people in remote areas. The Environmental Protection Agency proposed a rule changes in January that would dramatically tighten emissions requirements on new wood-powered heaters, though does not impact ones already in homes. The EPA estimates that as much as 13 percent of all soot pollution in the U.S. is a result of inefficient wood-fired stoves and boilers.
