GOP Report Concludes Military Could
Not Have Changed Outcome in Benghazi

Mediaite, by Tommy Christopher

Original Article

The attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya that left four Americans dead, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, continues to be a line of political attack against the Obama administration, but a new report from the Republican-led House Armed Services Committee belies at least one aspect of the popular conservative criticism, that U.S. forces were ordered to “stand down” when they could have saved lives in Benghazi. The Republican-authored report’s findings are, by no means, a love letter to President Obama or then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. For example, the report concludes that U.S. personnel in Benghazi were woefully

That is not the scandal. That the consulate was ill prepared for an attack after receiving requests for tighter security on such an obvious target date and for covering it up with lies because of an election-That is the scandal

And how would they know - especially if they´re basing that on the fact the administration has made certain the military was woefully unprepared.

At the time it happened they didn´t know what the outcome would be let alone whether they could change it, yet they did nothing.

The State Department had released the DC-3 cargo plane for the mission in Tripoli. So once they got to Benghazi they needed to arrange transportation to the annex. Once they made it back to the airport from Benghazi the most severely injured flew back in the small plane and they needed to scrounge additional planes for the rest.

All we needed was an AC-130 gunship or an Apache or 2 to hose down the attackers which would have put an end to it. Don´t tell me we could not have got something on station quick enough. Because I refuse to believe it.

Helmet camera shows skydiver´s remarkable

It’s 1 World Trade Center like it’s never been seen before — through a helmet camera worn by one of three skydivers who jumped from the top of the skyscraper in September. The footage, posted to YouTube, is breathtaking — and maybe even a little too much to handle if one is afraid of heights. The skydiver, former WTC ironworker James Brady, first waits for one of his high-flying companions to jump. Then he too plummets toward the street, and the camera provides a remarkable perspective of the 1,776-foot-tall tower and the city lights. The daredevil then pulls the cord

Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, who along with his wife plowed more than $92 million into efforts to help mostly losing candidates in the 2012 elections, is undertaking a new strategy for 2016 — to tap his fortune on behalf of a more mainstream Republican with a clear shot to win the White House, according to people familiar with his thinking. In 2012, Sheldon and Miriam Adelson spent so much of their money on long-shot candidate Newt Gingrich that they helped extend an ugly intra-party fight that left the eventual nominee, Mitt Romney, severely bruised by the time he faced President Obama

GOP finds unwinding Obamacare

Republicans are still determined to repeal Obamacare, even though they have famously failed to unite behind an alternative. Now, it is dawning on some in the GOP that even if they succeed in repealing the Affordable Care Act, and even if they pass an alternative, they will still have to come up with a plan to get from here to there. Right now, they don´t have one. What is different about Republican calls for repeal today -- as opposed to calls for repeal from 2010 to the end of 2013 -- is that Obamacare is now in place. It exists. Exchanges

f Harry Reid isn’t the most despicable politician ever he’s right up there in the top five. He actually blamed Republicans for Russia invading Ukraine and annexing Crimea. He says it’s their fault because they held up a bill providing aid to Ukraine, but failed to mention that the bill they blocked would have given Russia more control over the International Monetary Fund. He also failed to mention that even if his bill passed in the Senate the House wouldn’t have been able to vote on it before Russia took action, so he’s basically just full of crap, as usual.Outlining

There’s something that makes the current Supreme Court different from some of its recent predecessors. The justices got religion. Or at least they seem more open about their faith, appearing before devout audiences and talking more about how religion shaped their lives or guides them now. As the court this week weighs religious conviction vs. legal obligation in the latest challenge to the Affordable Care Act, those who study the court say the change is hard to quantify but easy to notice. Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. are devout Catholics who faced questions during their

Russell Crowe stars in Darren Aronofsky´s Bible-based epic. Darren Aronofsky wrestles one of scripture´s most primal stories to the ground and extracts something vital and audacious, while also pushing some aggressive environmentalism, in Noah. Whereas for a century most Hollywood filmmakers have tread carefully and respectfully when tackling biblical topics in big-budget epics aimed at a mass audience, Aronofsky has been daring, digging deep to develop a bold interpretation of a tale which, in the original, offers a lot of room for speculation and invention. The narrative of the global flood that wiped out almost all earthly life is the original

WASHINGTON — Mitt Romney said Sunday that President Barack Obama is naive when it comes to Russia, has shown "faulty judgment" about Moscow´s intentions and could have done more to try to deter its annexation of Crimea. The 2012 Republican presidential nominee said Obama didn´t have the foresight to anticipate Russia´s moves and should have been working earlier with allies to make clear the penalties that Russia would face if it moved into Ukraine. Romney did acknowledge that such steps may not have been enough though to hold back Russia President Vladimir Putin. "Had we communicated those things, there´s always

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how the sweeping acceptance of gay marriage in recent years is owed in large part to Christianity. Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,
