Obama Turnout Machine Crashes in San Diego
—Loses Mayor´s Race by Nine Points

National Review Online, by John Fund

Original Article

Posted By:quantumman, 2/12/2014 10:50:25 AM

Kevin Faulkoner recaptured the mayor’s office in San Diego for Republicans in a special election yesterday. The polls were skin-tight leading into yesterday’s election, and unions poured in millions to keep control in the nation’s eighth-largest city. But in the end the vaunted Obama election model — flood the zone with negative attack ads and excite the base of the Democratic party — flopped. Faulkoner defeated fellow City Council member David Alvarez by nine points in a city that Barack Obama carried by 63 percent to 37 percent only 15 months ago.

Comments:
This is a foreshadowing of the November mid-terms. It will get worse (I hope) for the Dems.

I knew we had it when Obama endorsed Alvarez a few days ago and the media over reported it. Also while the local media did slant the news a little, it was nothing like the national media lies. They were sure reporting the polls that had it very close. Of course the polls were the typical push type.

Great way to start 2014!
FTA Faulconer’s win breaths new life into what has been a moribund Republican party in California and also shows that the Obama turnout machine isn’t invincible without a presidential-level turnout. That’s a valuable lesson as we head into the 2014 midterm elections. "

In 2011 I worked on a managed competition for 1 city department as a consultant (there are 35+ departments). Our proposal which won the competition against the private bids would save about $8M annually and $40 M. over 5 years. The unions stopped implementation of these savings. Considering that the entire program was previously delayed for 5 years, that´s $80 M. wasted by the unions and their Democratic minions. Maybe Faulconer has a chance to straighten San Diego out. But the unions remain.

Key members of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform expressed outrage at revelations made in newly released emails showing ex-IRS official Lois Lerner coordinating with the Department of Justice on prosecuting nonprofit groups. One committee member said the emails prove why the IRS is “scared to give up the rest of Lois Lerner’s emails.” IRS commissioner John Koskinen was recently threatened with contempt for stonewalling the committee’s investigation. Koskinen claimed in a hearing that it could take years to provide the documents requested by Oversight.

Ukraine doesn’t seem like the kind of place that world powers would want to tussle over. It’s as poor as Paraguay and as corrupt as Iran. During the 20th century it was home to a deadly famine under Stalin (the Holomodor, 1933), a historic massacre of Jews (Babi Yar, 1941), and one of the world’s worst nuclear disasters (Chernobyl, 1986). Now, with former President Viktor Yanukovych in hiding, it’s struggling to form a government, its credit rating is down to CCC, a recession looms, and foreign reserves are running low. The economic news from Tehran is good—good, that is, if you are a state sponsor of terror moving toward a nuclear weapons program. If on the other hand you were hoping that sanctions might persuade the Iranians to cease and desist, the news is disastrous. Since the Obama administration relaxed sanctions on Iran, oil sales are up 25 percent, from 1.06 million barrels per day to 1.32 million, and the White House reportedly has no intention of preventing the rise in sales and consequent swelling of Revolutionary Guard bank accounts. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports.
