Torch-Carrying Environmentalists
Protest at Oil Exec’s Home

Masked protesters carrying torches and threatening organized violence protested outside the home of an executive at a major oil pipeline company last week. Eight environmental activists gathered on the lawn of Mark Maki, a member of the Enbridge Energy Company’s board of directors and president of Enbridge Energy Management, to protest the arrests of three anti-pipeline activists last year. The protesters, who brandished torches for a photo posted online, held a sign warning, “solidarity means attack” and “we will shut you down.” Maki stepped out of his Houston, Texas, home to talk with the protesters, though he said he was not familiar with

How do these MORON Environmentalists hope to HEAT THEIR HOMES from the cold? How do they expect to keep driving their cars and operating any machinery that builds their million dollar homes? How do they expect the machines in health care hospitals save their lives? How do they expect to buy products they are used to in order to keep them looking good and their exercise machines to work without OIL? THE FOOLS!

Texas gives homeowners the power to shoot those protesters if they threaten the homeowner, his family, or his property at night. Those torches look threatening to me, a potential juror.

Those Utopian fools are not very smart people.

Enbridge should hire PIs to find the identities of these "environ-mentalists" and then the protestors should "expect visits." When an organized crime figure such as Hitlery hires PIs to harass BJs women into silence, it´s criminal. In this case, it is the protestors who are the thugs.

Exactly #2-Grace - I have seen that argument before, so why don´t some really creative people at the oil companies come up with great ads about all the products that have a petroleum base; e.g., plastic and foam rubber and on and on - and all the many products that are made from those products, like great comfy couches and bright kitchen products.

Most of us are minimally better informed than the lo-fo´s, but what we sit on, or strain our spaghetti with, registers in some corner of our brains. I can´t understand why the oil companies don´t inform us, and try to even give us some approximate count, of all the products that in our homes and garages because of petroleum.

I have seen this idea used before but maybe they could use it again in a different way.

Friends from decades ago are at the center of the emotionally-charged, legal battle over same-sex marriage in Texas. But they’re on opposite sides. Plano attorney Mark Phariss is one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit that led to a federal judge ruling Wednesday that Texas´ ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional. Greg Abbott, the state attorney general and candidate for governor, is defending the ban and has filed notice he’ll appeal the judge’s ruling. Phariss and Abbott were law school classmates. They know each other. Phariss tells KERA they were good friends.

The Dallas Mavericks are not willing to relocate potential playoff games from American Airlines Center to make way for the 2016 Republican National Convention, team owner Mark Cuban said Thursday. Asked by email whether he would be willing to vacate his team’s home arena to accommodate the convention, Cuban said: “No and we won’t move.” He did not respond to follow-up questions. Dallas Stars officials said they also had no plans to move any potential playoff games but think any conflicts could be ironed out. Cuban’s stance could complicate the city’s bid to host the next GOP national convention. Dallas is one of

In the past 48 hours, the Crimean peninsula has become a flashpoint in the wider struggle between Russia and the West over the future fate of Ukraine. That is no coincidence. Its history is scarred by invasion and war – and it has resulted in a population that is deeply divided on the question of nationhood. No Western politician seems to have taken this on board. Crimea’s people are 58 per cent ethnic Russians, 24 per cent Ukrainians, and 12 per cent Tatars, descendants of the Turkic people that ruled the peninsula until the Russian Tsars annexed it in 1783. Against my better judgment I took a look at the recent update of the despicable Southern Poverty Law Center’s “hate map.” One of the groups I hadn’t noticed before, listed as “anti-LGBT,” was the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-FAM). I was unfamiliar with it so I looked it up; maybe it was a kook outfit like the Westboro “Baptist” “Church.” After all, just because the SPLC calls something a “hate group” doesn’t mean it’s not. You won’t be surprised to learn that C-FAM is a mainstream conservative group, devoted to keeping an eye on the antics of the U.N.

Earlier this week, inside a ballroom at the luxury Mandarin Oriental hotel in D.C., President Obama met with Organizing for America. OFA, as it’s called for short, raised $26 million last year, much of it from an assortment of heirs, heiresses, hedge funders, and Hollywood executives. OFA is the president’s advocacy group, charged with rounding up support for his gun control, immigration, minimum wage, and climate change initiatives. It has not been having much success. The headline from this week’s summit was the president’s remark that OFA volunteers are doing “God’s work.” Nothing, though, on who was in the audience during

Many Republicans—and a handful of independent commentators like George Washington University professor Jonathan Turley—have been highly critical of President Obama’s executive branch overreach. The president has arbitrarily delayed, deferred, or ignored provisions of numerous laws, none more so than his signature Obamacare legislation. There is indeed much to criticize; no other president in recent times has usurped congressional lawmaking powers to the extent Barack Obama has. Administration spokesmen have defended these actions by pointing out that other presidents have also issued executive orders. But President Obama’s actions are less like executive orders in the usual sense of the term than

The federal government spent more on broken state-run exchanges than it did on its own troubled system. Of the 14 states, plus the District of Columbia, that established their own health insurance coverage under Obamacare, seven remain dysfunctional, disabled, or severely underperforming. Development of those exchanges was funded heavily by the federal government through a series of grants that totaled more than $1.2 billion—almost double the $677 million cost of development for the federal exchange. Here´s a rundown of the troubled state exchanges and the federal grants they qualified for. Oregon No exchange failed more fully or more spectacularly than Cover Oregon.

Sen. Harry Reid would call these mere trifles since he’s willing to dismiss women with cancer losing their coverage.
