Woody & Mia: A Greek tragedy
New York Post, by Maureen Callahan

It was the perfect Christmas tableau at the Allen-Farrow household: There sat Mia and nine of her children around the dinner table. There were two turkeys, an abundance of side dishes, and in the middle, a carved angel. In came Woody Allen with a holiday greeting. “Pardon me while I puke,” he said, then went off to the kitchen to juice apples. Long before the scandals — Woody taking off with Mia’s adopted teen daughter Soon-Yi, Mia accusing Woody of molesting their 7-year-old daughter, Dylan — the Allen-Farrow family was regarded as the ultimate cosmopolitan clan, a multiracial brood of 11 children,

Woody is taking a smear campaign against Mia using all his guns except its Dylan whose story has been unwavering since 1992, read the judges decision. Judge has Allen´s number and let´s him have it for the worm he is. I´m not defending Mia but this guy is a very talented writer, lots of money and Hollywood loves him because he pushes taboo themes without completely crossing into criminal territory. There is a pro Woody documentary on Netflix now that catches woody in a big lie about Mia´s career. A third party had to plead with her to return to shoot final scenes for Husbands and Wives after the Soonyi mess and he admits he had wanted to cast her in Mighty Aphrodite. I like that this sordid mess exposes Hollywood double standards and their hypocrisy. Read the Kathy Jo Sales story ´Woody and Me´ as he fixates on young girls of 12. Sales herself being a major lib writer.

Looking into the face of evil as is excruciatingly detailed in this article is anger-inducing. Usually such things are saddening but any worldview study will reveal that when you remove the moral restraints from normal human beings and tell them "you´re okay no matter what you want to do", you get fundamentally flawed human beings, doing what they are born to do -- act like moral savages.

If you do this with abnormal people, you get a bizarre and unbridled mix of perversity and rage.

These two people are so dysfunctional, it´s a shame she was allowed to adopt so many children, all of which she apparently sent to psychiatrists. Why? Was it just the thing to do in her world and Woody´s in Manhattan Babylon?

Reading this story drives home the point that when moral guard rails are removed, through cultural largesse or a lack of Godly virtues, you get this kind of ugliness and pathos.

It´s not a "Greek tragedy". It´s an American reality show, complete with all the dangers wrought by abandoning self-restraint and embracing self-absorption.

Greek tragedy? Really?

"Greek tragedy" is one of those terms and words, like "decimate," that journalists and other morons toss about with little clue as to their actual meaning.

This is no "Greek tragedy." It´s a geek embarrassment. Shame on us for paying attention.

Mia Farrow grew up in a home that wasn´t exactly Ozzie and Harriet´s, either. Her father was a notorious boozer and womanizer and her mother apparently put up with it. Who knows about Woody Allen´s upbringing, certainly I don´t. But neither of these people were capable of providing a stable homelife for a single child, never mind a whole houseful. If any of those children turned out normal, it wasn´t due to Mia or Woody (or Andrew, for that matter!).

Whatever the dysfunctionality of the so-called adults in this melodrama, a little girl was apparently molested. And the supporters-apologists for the perp are using the "family dysfunction" as a smokescreen to protect him.

Leaving Soon-Yi of the uncertain age out of this, the other children were not crazy. And certainly little Dylan wasn´t.

Taking the story focus away from her does not make what Woody did somehow understandable and ok.

The Vanity Fair article, which includes an embedded link to the PDF file of the judge´s 33 page opinion, is full of seamy detail. #13 provides the link.

In Greek tragedy the hero or heroine, a great person, is done in by a tragic flaw. Since neither Woody nor Mia could be called great, I wouldn´t call this a Greek Tragedy.

In Anthony Summers´ compulsively readable Sinatra: The Life, Sinatra, two years into his singing prime (about 1955), is at a party at the home of John Farrow and Maureen O´Sullivan, where he notices the nymphet Mia, then about ten. Farrow tells the Chairman, "Stay away from her!" For the record, Mia became Frank´s third wife in 1966 when she was 20 and he 50. The marriage lasted only two years, but Frank remained on the periphery of Mia´s life as long as he was alive. (He might well have sired Ronan Farrow, who looks shockingly similar to him).

In 1992 when the reports of Woody´s pedophile tendencies were first reported, Frank called Mia and asked her if she wanted to have Woody´s legs broken. (Frank definitely had the right connections to arrange that.) Mia demurred.

Reading the Vanity Fair material I decided that a reasonable person could no longer give Woody the benefit of the doubt. He was not innocent of the charges, and although a prosecutor would have had a tough time securing a conviction against him, the evidence was damning enough to keep him away from children forever.

No one is going to take away her kids and no one is going to arrest Mr. Konigsberg. No one is going to be able to heal the kids who have suffered at their hands and bored gawkers are going to continue to fixate on celebrities. If we stopped giving them attention and stopped buying their products they would revert to what they really are: troubled narcissists who should never have been permitted to adopt in the first place.

-“What disturbs me is that Mia has tried to blur these lines — because he likes to date young women, he must have been interested in a 7-year-old,” she says. “Pedophiles are compulsive. No one has accused him before, and no one has subsequently.”--

So says the woman who "dated" Woody (and rarely slept over) when she was 17 and he was 41. Um, doesn´t it show compulsion that he had a relationship with her at age 17, with Soon-Yi at the same age, a correspondence with a 13 year old, and an obssession, at least, with his 7 year old daughter?

Reply 27 - Posted by: An Afternoon Walk, 2/10/2014 11:17:10 AM     (No. 9726606)

From Jim Jerome´s profile of Woody Allen in the October 4, 1976 People Magazine issue:

"I try to have sex only with women I like a lot," Woody explains solemnly. "Otherwise I find it fairly mechanical." (He has little interest in family life: "It´s no accomplishment to have or raise kids. Any fool can do it.")

He goes on: "I´m open-minded about sex. I´m not above reproach; if anything, I´m below reproach. I mean, if I was caught in a love nest with 15 12-year-old girls tomorrow, people would think, yeah, I always knew that about him." Allen pauses. "Nothing I could come up with would surprise anyone," he ventures helplessly. "I admit to it all."

What’s disturbing about this quote besides the obvious hypothetical of a 41 year old man, Allen himself, having orgies with 12-year-olds, is that his statement “I’m open-minded about sex” “if anything I’m below reproach” is made in the context of young children and sex. He doesn’t seem to look at children as children. They are sexual objects.

Remember, it is a fact he secretly took nude photographs of Soon Yi while she was a teen, a girl he had known since she was very young, and no matter what anybody says, he was Mia Farrow´s long-time partner and as such, was a father figure to her children, whether he likes it or not. Seducing and marrying Soon Yi is disgusting all on its own. He waited until she was just barely past the line to be “acceptable” in age for him to go public with her. Disgusting. How long before that did he have his eye, and hands, on her?

As #17 stated, Woody Allen pushes taboo sex themes all through his work. A noble man?

Read all the court documents and statements before defending this monster named Woody Allen.

To all the "who cares" "they´re both nutcases" "spare us the dirty laundry" "shut up" "it doesn´t matter" et al., there is a little girl aged 7 who says she was molested and a babysitter walked in on Allen with his head in Dylan´s lap (in a sexual pose) and reported it to the staff.

That little girl mattered then. And she matters now.

Slick Wille´s endless predatory sexual exploits are far more open to accurate, fact filled criticism, and Billary´s very public acceptance of his continuous perversions, are far more objectionable and incredible.

After that, things seems to have gone off the rails.

Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote in her forthcoming book that she was “hurt” and “angry” by 2012 reporting on her fraudulent claim to Native American heritage. “What really threw me, though, were the constant attacks from the other side,” Warren wrote in her book “A Fighting Chance.” “I would almost persuade myself that I was starting to get the hang of full-throttle campaigning and then — bam! Out of left field, the state Republican Party, or the Brown campaign, or some blogger, would launch a rocket at me,” Warren wrote, adding, ”I was stunned by the attacks.” This reporter (blogger?) reported extensively

WASHINGTON — Former President Jimmy Carter joined fellow Nobel laureates Wednesday in opposing Keystone XL, insisting that approving the pipeline would trigger “more climate upheaval” around the globe. In an open letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, Carter and the nine other Nobel Peace Prize winners bluntly warned the leaders: “Your decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will define your climate legacy.” The missive, published as an advertisement in Politico, represents the first time Carter has taken a position on the $5.4 billion project and makes him the first former president to come

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

After presenting at the Academy Awards this year, Kim Novak didn’t want to leave her house. The Hitchcock screen siren, 81, was too humiliated to venture from her home near the Rogue River in Oregon. She read the cruel posts and Internet snark about her appearance, and it was just too much. “It got to me like it gets kids and teenagers,” she told the Associated Press. The “Vertigo” actress, considered one of the great beauties in her day, posted a note on her Facebook wall Thursday, acknowledging that she’d gotten fat injections in her face and addressing her halted

With Easter soon approaching, the Rev. Al Sharpton on Wednesday drew parallels between the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of President Obama’s political career. Joining the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Mr. Sharpton said that his message for this Easter is that “no matter what the world may do to you unfairly, no matter how you’re crucified — nailed to the cross at home, or in your personal relationships, or on the job — that you can rise if you don’t lose yourself during the hard times and the challenges.” The reverend went on to say that Christ endured so much humiliation and unearned suffering leading up to his death,

FORT WORTH — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis will undergo neck surgery today, her campaign said Tuesday. “After experiencing shoulder and right arm pain in recent weeks, Sen. Davis will have a routine surgical procedure to remove bone spurs and degenerative discs that are creating compression on the nerves in her neck,” campaign spokesman Zac Petkanas said in a statement Tuesday. “This is a common issue experienced by runners and endurance athletes,” he said. Davis, of Fort Worth, will undergo the outpatient surgery at the Fort Worth Brain and Spine Institute. Dr. Thomas Ellis will perform the

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. Though the story has only grabbed national headlines in the past several days, rancher Cliven Bundy has illegally grazed cattle on the Nevada land surrounding his farm for over 20 years. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t work this way. If only it did—we could rebel for paying stupid taxes, refuse to
