Obama in unemployment wonderland
Washington Times, by Editorial

The unemployment rate fell in January, which ought to be good news. But it isn’t. Over the past decade we’ve fallen into a strange and puzzling wonderland of opposites, where “economic recovery” comes with no growth and unemployment rates drop but people aren’t working. Such a wonderland was discovered by Alice in Lewis Carroll’s playful tale. “If I had a world of my own,” Alice said, “everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn’t.” President Obama lives in Alice’s world. He has company, his own council of economic advisers and a Congress ready

They need to set the formula (for how unemployment numbers are counted) back to the previous, more honest version. Unfortunately, after these past five years of fudging the numbers to display artificially lower the percentages, whatever administration does set it to the honest formula commits political suicide. At best, the true number is in the mid teens with some ethnicities in the 20´s and 30´s.

Until the U-6 unemployment number is used Obama will control the unemployment conversation to his advantage. The U-6 includes those who have quit looking for work because of the direness of finding a job, and those working part-time when they want full-time. The U-6 unemployment rate is 12.7.

January unemployment numbers released by the BLS said the US added 134,000 jobs.

The uncentered, unadjusted numbers from the BLS say:

The unemployment measure is fine for a short term indicator but invalid as a measure of a long or even mid range change in condition. We need to look at the employment numbers not unemployment. And I wish dear leader will explain what happens to the wok life balance of hunter leaving the cave every day providing for more and more who stay behind to draw outlines of their hands on the cave wall.

But with Obamacare the unemployed can live at leisure knowing they have better healthcare insurance than they did before.

Good thing too; they´ll be living in a Kelvinator box.

Maybe this is how Obama plans on fixing the unemployment problem.

All these "quitters" will be freeing up jobs for people who do want to work.

I looked up the employment numbers 5 years ago and found out about the U3 and U6.
When you have full employment it makes sense to use the U3. When every month fewer and fewer people are working it is a lie to use the U3. What makes me angry is, even conservatives have gone along with the lies.
Under Obamas system, as soon and every single person is out of work for two months, we will have 0% unemployment!!!!

144 million are working. 94 million who can work are not working. Four and a half million net FULL TIME jobs have been lost in five years. Does this sound like 6.6% unemployment rate? There is a limit to which even LoFo parasites can be fooled... And that limit is rapidly approaching.

Republicans should start running ads with Obama dressed up as Alice in Wonderland or as The Emperor in the Hans Christian Anderson´s tale and all the people laughing as he strides by in his "new" clothes. These stories and the characters they were written about was for a good reason - they drove the point home about lying - children lie (Obama is really a child) and/or the folly of the delusional "high and mighty".

"Figures don´t lie, liars figure."

We don´t have anyone with a loud enough voice to speak to the facts anymore, so now we just get snippits and spin.

Take the new housing construction stats. People that can afford to retire are leaving the liberal controled states and moving to Florida, Texas, and Arizona. The states they leave either end up with vacant homes or immigrants filling the gap. The states that they retire to need new houses, therefore a new housing up-tick.

They aren´t moving just for the warmer weather, otherwise California would be showing the same increase in retirees. They are escaping the politics that destroys the freedoms we used to know only to be more than willing to push for the same failures in their new states. Heck, for the price of a condo in Sarasota you could buy a whole city block in Detroit.

The low or no income tax red states are getting more purple because of the blue idiots not wanting to retire in the social mess they created.

2. I am a simple math guy. Just tell me, you conservative statisticians too, what was the population in 2008 and 2013, how many were (are) working in same years, and how many are of working age. Btw, I would like to understand what does it mean "people are leaving workforce"? Are they getting disability or retire with pension or what?

Advice to Democrats: Don´t say ´recovery´

WASHINGTON - Election-year memo to Democratic candidates: Don´t talk about the economic recovery. It´s a political loser. So say Democratic strategists in a blunt declaration that such talk skips over "how much trouble people are in, and doesn´t convince them that policymakers really understand or are even focusing on the problems they continue to face." In addition, Stan Greenberg, James Carville and others wrote that in head-to-head polling tests the mere mention of the word "recovery" is trumped by a Republican assertion that the Obama administration has had six years to get the economy moving and its policies haven´t worked. President Obama has warned that Iran is not open for business, even as the United States has loosened some of its punishing economic sanctions as part of an interim nuclear pact. Yet, on Tuesday morning, Iran had an unlikely visitor: a plane, owned by the Bank of Utah, a community bank in Ogden that has 13 branches throughout the state. Bearing a small American flag on its tail, the aircraft was parked in a highly visible section of Mehrabad Airport in Tehran. But from there, the story surrounding the plane, and why it was in Iran — where all but a few

Saying they can no longer ignore the rising prices of health care, some of the most influential medical groups in the nation are recommending that doctors weigh the costs, not just the effectiveness of treatments, as they make decisions about patient care. The shift, little noticed outside the medical establishment but already controversial inside it, suggests that doctors are starting to redefine their roles, from being concerned exclusively about individual patients to exerting influence on how health care dollars are spent. “We understand that we doctors should be and are stewards of the larger society as well as of the patient in

Hillary Clinton may end up deciding she wants to spend the 935 days until election 2016 making corporate speeches and spoiling her grandchild. Recent events have exposed weaknesses in Clinton’s supposedly impregnable armor, gaps through which a Democratic or Republican challenger could damage, perhaps even defeat her. This week’s Fox News poll has Clinton’s favorable rating at its lowest point in six years. She is at 49 percent favorable, 45 percent unfavorable—similar to her

President Barack Obama used his Thursday press conference to diagnose Republicans as fear-mongering, spiteful, obstinate, petulant and obstructive, as he again declared mission-accomplished in his effort to put the nation’s health-care under government control. “I recognize that their party is going through the stages of grief — anger and denial and all that stuff — and we’re not at acceptance yet,” Obama told reporters, where he announced that his Obamacare network had claimed 8 million subscribers. Government spending has slowed, and Mr. Obama’s plans for higher taxes and higher spending have fallen by the wayside. “The discretionary spending has in fact been driven by Republicans post-2010 clamping down,” said Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a former director of the Congressional Budget Office who is now president of the
