Friends mourn USF frat brothers killed
in wrong-way crash on I-275

Mourners gathered on the side of Interstate 275 on Sunday evening to lay a wreath, bouquets and candles near the site of a fiery crash that killed four University of South Florida fraternity brothers and the driver who struck them head-on several hours earlier. (Snip) The crash happened just after 2 a.m. A 2001 Ford Expedition was traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-275, just north of Busch Boulevard, said Steve Gaskins, spokesman for the Florida Highway patrol. An apparent video of the scene shot by a southbound driver and posted on her Facebook page shows the Expedition traveling

Comments:
Another "ghost car" causes a senseless tragedy. The terrifying video shot by someone in the correct lane showed the SUV barreling down the wrong lane into traffic, doing about 90 mph. Several cars barely escaped a head-on. Considering the hour, I´d be willing to wager that the driver of the Ford Expedition was pie-faced drunk. He killed himself and four young college men.

Had a wrong way crash here in SoCal that killed 6 this morning too. Caused by drunk driving at 4:40 am. Disgusting. The driver that caused the crash survived. Lucky her.

In this Florida crash there seems to be some speculation that this was intentional. What kind of charred black soul do you have to have to do that?

State trooper once said to a friend: Stay out of the left lane. If a drunk is driving the wrong way, he´s hugging the divider and thinks he´s in the right lane.

Thinking of a ghastly accident I know of where that was exactly the case. A family was destroyed, the drunk driver survived unhurt.

Dittoes #4. The Timber King worked LAPD traffic for 18 years and was a professional accident re-constructionist. He says the same thing about driving in the left lane after the bars close.

The HBO documentary "There´s Something Wrong with Aunt Diane" was a story about a wrong way crash in NY that killed 7, including 3 young kids. The wrong way driver was a responsible mother of the year type who was drunk and stoned out of her mind, and no one could figure out why she would do such a thing.

Story gets its name from one of the terrified kids in the back seat of the car calling her father on her cell phone.

#6, the accident you refer to actually killed eight people, including four children: Diane´s small daughter, Diane´s brother´s three young daughters, three men in another car (including a father, son and friend), and Diane herself. Her son, a small boy, was grievously injured as well.

Toxicology tests did indeed prove that Diane Schuler was drunk and had high levels of marijuana.

TAMPA — The driver of the sport-utility vehicle that drove the wrong way on Interstate 275 last month and crashed into a vehicle killing four University of South Florida students was driving under the influence of alcohol that was more than twice the legal limit and had a trace amount of marijuana in his system, the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office said Monday. KINGSTON - More than 150 years after European colonial powers abolished slavery, a coalition of Caribbean nations is considering legal action to seek a formal apology and monetary compensation. Caribbean leaders meeting next week in St. Vincent are expected to study a broad legal outline for the reparations claim prepared by a British law firm. The subject of reparations has simmered in the Caribbean for many years and opinions are divided. Some see reparations as delayed justice, while others see it as an empty claim and a distraction from modern social problems in Caribbean societies. Slavery ended throughout the Caribbean

Three weeks of demonstrations, 18 people killed, scores wounded, hundreds missing and more than 800 arrests, many still imprisoned. This is Venezuela today. The Venezuelan Violence Observatory ranks it as one of the most violent countries in the world, with a homicide rate of 79 per 100,000 inhabitants or more than 24,763 a year. What’s more, 95 percent of the murders go unsolved. Whom do we blame for this travesty? It started in 1998 when Hugo Chavez, a former lieutenant colonel, was elected president, though he had previously led a failed military coup against a democratic government in 1992. Chavez

Attkisson, who has been with CBS News for two decades, had grown frustrated with what she saw as the network´s liberal bias, an outsized influence by the network´s corporate partners and a lack of dedication to investigative reporting, several sources said.
