They quit their jobs,
thanks to health-care law

Washington Post, by Sandhya Somashekhar

Count Polly Lower among those who quit their jobs because of the health-care law. It happened in September, when her boss abruptly changed her job description. She went from doing payroll, which she liked, to working on her boss’s schedule, which she loathed. At another time, she might have had to grit her teeth and accept the new position because she needed the health benefits. But with the health-care law soon to take effect, she simply resigned — and hasn’t looked back. “It was wonderful. It was very freeing,” said Lower, 56, of Bourbon, Ind., who is now babysitting her

The fact that these people don´t consider that those who work are paying for her insurance really bugs me.

Of course she is in for a shock when she finds out that she needs money to pay for health care, what?? The premiums may be subsidized but the deductible is not... yet.

Typical liberal American airhead! When the time come for her idiotic decision to bite her in the butt, she will blame the (democRat light) republicans.

I will bet her ex-boss is happier than she is about her resignation though!

FTA:Lower acknowledged that it has been harder to make ends meet without a steady paycheck. But she said there is no way to quantify the peace of mind she feels, now that she isn’t tethered to a job she hates and can help her daughter, a single mother

No income and she´s celebrating. What happens when she realizes there´s a $5,000 deductible every year? And what happens when premiums soar because so many people are getting a ´free´ ride?

There are two sides to this and as usual the liberals see only one side, that some people will benefit.

On the other side, the one not considered by liberals. are the people who pay taxes and supply the government with the money it is handing out. As they grow fewer and fewer at what point do the free loaders outnumber the tax payers?

I guess this has already happened and explains our huge debt. At some point we can no longer borrow or print money.

I´m surprised nobody has thought of the tactic that they use when they´re not happy. Strike. A Taxpayer Strike, say on April 15, with mobs burning their 1040s might start to get their attention.

They´re pretty smug making all these demands on the producer class precisely because we´re so compliant. You know, like sheep happy to be shorn regularly. If the magic wool wasn´t handed over so placidly and so reliably, the chances for an attitude adjustment might improve considerably.

If she quit her job for BarryCare and no longer works, BarryCare automatically puts her on Medicaid which means she pays nothing, nada, zilch. She probably gets food stamps, a cash card, Section 8 housing, HEAP, etc. What a life of the lazy who prefers to suck off the livelihood of the working person.

I always wondered, what would happen if every worker quit and went on Medicaid, Welfare, etc.

I did read page after page of Dem talking points -- people will be free to follow their passion, spend time with family, go to school, start a biz. No mention of how these "free" people will fund their endeavors nor why they can´t do these things while still employed.

Now, the effect is to drive them onto a program that pays them subsidies before they run to the emergency room. We have installed a program to prepay the leeches, but the leeching remains and is now institutionalized.

The Social Security Administration announced Monday that it will immediately cease efforts to collect on taxpayers’ debts to the government that are more than 10 years old. The action comes after The Washington Post reported that the government was seizing state and federal tax refunds that were on their way to about 400,000 Americans who had relatives who owed money to Social Security. In many cases, the people whose refunds were intercepted had never heard of any debt, and the debts dated as far back as the middle of the past century. “I have directed an immediate halt to further

The Dallas Morning News´ Senior Political Writer Wayne Slater (DMN) reported that Davis supported legislation governing a toll road project. Democrats have had a recurring problem in special elections this year: Their voters aren’t turning out. If a weak economy and continued Obamacare problems persist, the November elections could be a disaster for Democrats. Last week, Democrats lost two special elections they weren’t planning to. Arlington, Va., is a classic wealthy ObamaTown, filled with government workers and limousine liberals. Mitt Romney won only 29 percent of the vote in 2012. But last Tuesday, Democrats lost their first election for the five-member Arlington County Board in 15 years when John Vihstadt, a Republican running as an independent, won a vacancy on

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said little as federal agents seized and then released cattle last week from the Bundy ranch, but there is little doubt that the highly charged episode was threatening to become a political headache for the Nevada Democrat. The Bureau of Land Management is headed by former longtime Reid aide Neil Kornze, who was confirmed by the Senate as BLM director on Tuesday, just as federal authorities descended on the cattle ranch outside Mesquite, Nev. Mr. Kornze issued a statement Saturday saying that the bureau would return the cattle and withdraw its agents from the ranch

On the defensive about their prospects in the midterm elections this fall, congressional Democrats have spent all of April savaging the Republican budget proposal, decrying the Koch brothers and championing a series of bills meant to ingratiate themselves to struggling middle-class voters. In promoting legislation that would extend unemployment benefits, increase the minimum wage and promote equal pay for women, the Democrats have declared themselves the party that will ensure a “fair shot” for all. Republicans, they insist, are the party of special interests. It has been a classic Washington messaging campaign for these partisan

Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators. Struggling homeowners across the country could face significant new tax bills if they receive mortgage relief from their banks, a prospect that threatens to slow the housing recovery and put further strain on distressed borrowers. The collapse of the housing market and plunging home prices left millions of people stuck owing more on their mortgages than their homes were worth. Some have worked with their banks to reduce the loan amount to avoid foreclosure or enable a sale. In 2007, Congress adopted a law that spared those homeowners from being taxed on the amount of the loan that was forgiven. But

Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports.
