Really? A ´No Colors Allowed´ Sign

Deadline Detroit, by Allan Lengel

Here´s a story that goes under the category of the absurd. Beer Belly´s Bar on Van Born Road in Taylor has a sign posted outside that says "NO COLORS ALLOWED." Most people know what that means: No gang colors, and in this case, motor cycle gangs. But apparently somebody didn´t get it and and circulated a Facebook video suggesting it meant no "colored" or black customers, a throwback to the days of the South when some restaurants and businesses posted the sign "No Colored Allowed." Fox 2 reports that the video has prompted people to call the bar and threaten the help.

Blacks assume ownership of parts of our language, and deem only they can use those parts, or that no one can. The "N" word in all it´s variations including an unrelated word meaning "Stingy". The word Black if used in a suspicious manner(black hole, black sheep). Thug has been added to the list. An airline was sued because a stewardess used "eenie, meenine, minie, moe and two Black women thought it racist. And now, Colors.

Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump, Sally Field as his mother; ´Stupid is as Stupid does´

When you see everything as a Victim. You grasp at any straw available to ´color´ it to your thinking.

This is getting to the point of Chicken Little who ran around constantly crying ´the sky is falling´ - until the words became a joke and meaningless.

I keep saying far to many Americans (yes many alleged conservatives too) are so gullible they are stupid. Then we wonder why the country is going to hades in a hand basket. Unfortunately "We The People" are allowing it by failing to stop it.

Police Chief James Craig: More guns
could equal less crime in Detroit

DETROIT, MI -- The Detroit Police Department has taken action in recent years through gun-buyback events to remove guns, legal or not, from the streets of Detroit. But first-year Police Chief James Craig takes a slightly different approach. He says in the hands of legal, law-abiding citizens, firearms "could be a deterrence to violent crime." That stance was challenged by Detroit resident Sandra Hines at the Detroit Police Commission meeting Thursday. "It could lead to vigilantism," said Hines, a member of the Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality. "I just think that we already have the open-gun-carry law here and we have the stand-your-ground law, we don't need to have ... anybody encouraging citizens, and then, what is the definition of a law-abiding citizen, what does a law-abiding citizen look like ..."

Judge appoints $600/hour

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Steven Rhodes today appointed a fee examiner to monitor legal fees in Detroit’s Chapter 9 bankruptcy. Rhodes named attorney Robert M. Fishman of the Chicago-based firm Shaw Fishman Glantz and Towbin to ensure the city’s legal fees and consulting bills don’t become exorbitant. Fishman will also be charged with making sure the fees are public information. In a sign of how expensive bankruptcies are, even the person responsible for preventing excessive fees will be well paid. Fishman’s typical hourly rate is $675. He’s discounting his hourly rate to $600 for Detroit.

Detroit Looks to Health

As Detroit enters the federal bankruptcy process, the city is proposing a controversial plan for paring some of the $5.7 billion it owes in retiree health costs: pushing many of those too young to qualify for Medicare out of city-run coverage and into the new insurance markets that will soon be operating under the Obama health care law. Officials say the plan would be part of a broader effort to save Detroit tens of millions of dollars in health costs each year, a major element in a restructuring package that must be approved by a bankruptcy judge.

Senators Joe Donnelly (D-IN) and Susan Collins (R-ME) introduced a measure Wednesday that would change the definition of a full-time worker under the Affordable Care Act.The proposal is aimed at preventing workers from having their hours scaled back as businesses try to cope with the additional cost of providing insurance.Under the ACA, businesses with 50 or more employees must provide healthcare coverage to full-time workers. Currently, anyone who averages 30 hours or more per week is considered full-time. But, Donnelly says that’s not in line with reality.

Michigan City – A pair of new police cars are about to hit the streets of Michigan City, and you might be amazed what they look like. All 17 Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee have called on Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) to end the “partisan” investigation into the Benghazi attack “and begin focusing instead on conducting responsible oversight to implement constructive reforms.” The Dems, led by ranking member Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), charged that the probe “has been characterized by wild and unsubstantiated political accusations that turn out to be completely inaccurate.” They proceeded to outline those instances in the five-page letter. “Continuing this reckless pattern of launching wholly unfounded accusations on national television — and racking up more and more Pinocchios in the process —

As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations. This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas. Some of these methane emissions come from

After a disastrous presidential campaign in 2012, can Texas Governor Rick Perry mount a credible bid for the White House in 2016? Texas Governor Rick Perry is currently on a media tour touting the theme that America is a great place for second chances, specifically second chances for Texas governors with national ambitions. Perry is trying to erase the memory of his disastrous 2012 GOP presidential campaign which included “brain-farts” and “oops” debate moments with his folksy, charming, and uniquely American manner. Curious about Perry’s comeback strategy, I asked Texan and GOP presidential media guru, Mark McKinnon and he said,

Mrs Furedi´s comments come weeks after it was disclosed that the CPS had decided not to prosecute two doctors who were exposed by a Daily Telegraph investigation arranging terminations purely because the unborn baby was a girl. When Jorge Mario Bergoglio became Pope Francis a little more than a year ago, the first thing that struck those who knew him well was his unexpected, beatific smile. “In Argentina, he didn’t smile like that,” Sergio Rubin, the pope’s biographer, said this week at a conference sponsored by the Ethics and Public Policy Center. “That was the big surprise.” Since then, the pope has mostly kept on smiling — in homilies, in audiences, in meetings with the homeless and the poor. If you look at the pictures from Francis’ meeting with President Obama on Thursday, though, the smile is there only some of the time.

More than six million Americans have now signed up for private insurance under the Affordable Care Act, according to the White House, with just four days to go until the end of its first open enrollment period. While traveling in Italy on Thursday, President Obama shared the news in a conference call with thousands of health-care navigators and volunteers helping enroll people on state and federal marketplaces. As the volume of consumers seeking health plans has surged -- there were over 1.5 million visits to HealthCare.gov Wednesday and more than 430,000 calls to the marketplaces´ call centers -- Obama urged those on

"This is bigger than some current baseball stadiums," Obama told reporters, noting the size exceeded Wrigley Field in his hometown of Chicago. "I have to check on what it seats. It´s remarkable. Unbelievable." The amphitheatre, located in central Rome, was constructed between 70 and 80 A.D., and was estimated to hold between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators. Only "mere scraps of data documented" Barack Obama´s mother´s "days in Seattle," writes Obama biographer David Maraniss in his 2012 Barack Obama: The Story. Incidentally, Maraniss was telling the truth: Ann´s "days in Seattle" weren´t mentioned in Dreams from my Father and were only vaguely implied in Maraniss´s lengthy 2008 article. And it appears that the only "scraps" of evidence of Obama´s mother´s time in Seattle during 1961-1962 was a listing in a Seattle Polk directory and a University of Washington (UW) transcript.
