Hillary´s question: not if, but how
Yahoo!News, by Matt Bai

Let’s be clear about this much: no matter what the soothsayers on cable TV tell you, Hillary Clinton is no more likely to clear the Democratic field and avoid a primary in 2016 than Dennis Rodman is to become her secretary of state. Walter Mondale couldn’t pull that off in 1984, and Al Gore couldn’t do it in 2000, and the conditions for Washington-anointed frontrunners have only gotten exponentially harder since then. Somewhere out there is a guy you’ve barely heard of – name of O’Malley or Schweitzer or Hickenlooper – whose idea of fun is spending every night of the

Dennis Rodman as Secretary of State. Hmmmm. Hasn´t he been spending a lot of time in North Korea lately?? I´m sure that counts as experience in Dem. eyes.

First order of business in helping Hillary is the destruction of Chris Christie, which is already well under way. The Democrats and their media allies don´t have to convince every voter. Just enough. Christie will join Palin and Romney as untouchables.

Would love to see Biden get into the primary mix. In his mind, of course, he´s earned a shot....which in his mind, again, would lead to certain election.

In the article, David Axelrod said that Hillary is the one to express new and fresh ideas and break away from the old paradigms. Except that Hillary wouldn´t know what an old idea is, much less than a new and fresh one. She isn´t motivated by ideas. She´s lived for far too long on the Government dime, as wife of a Governor, wife of a President, a Senator, and a Secretary of State. She´s been a private citizen for over a year now, and the prospect of a couple of government checks probably looks good to her about now. The liquor cabinet needs restocking.

Who says Joe Biden hasn´t got the right foreign policy chops? Well, former Defense secretary Robert Gates did, in January, when he wrote in his memoir that the vice president has been "wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades." But the criticism hasn´t slowed Biden down. For the past four months, the vice president has been Washington´s prime point of contact with Ukraine, quietly taking care of diplomatic maneuvering for the Obama administration stateside while Secretary of State John Kerry meets with European officials abroad. Between November and February, Biden spoke to now-ousted Ukrainian

A universe of super PACs and other organizations has been built -- and staffed by former Clinton operatives -- to prepare the way for Hillary 2016. (To understand how fully formed these efforts are, make sure to read Mark Halperin´s terrific piece in Time this week.) And yet, running through all of these preparations is a current of uncertainty about whether the former first lady, senator and top diplomat will, you know, actually run. The thinking is that Clinton would never let efforts this extensive go forward if she, in her heart of hearts, wasn´t planning to run. But that, like

3.01pm GMT And here is the Reuters version. Ukrainian authorities accused Russia on Saturday of provoking a fatal gunfight in the eastern city of Kharkiv overnight, fearing Moscow could use violence against ethnic Russians to justify invasion. The interior minister said police arrested about 30 people involved on both sides of the clash after two men, aged 20 and 31, were killed late on Friday when pro-Russian demonstrators fought rivals near an office of a Ukrainian nationalist group. Both groups used firearms, Arsen Avakov said. Moscow, whose troops last week seized Ukraine’s Crimea peninsula on the grounds that its ethnic Russian majority feared the new

David Plouffe Sounds ‘Screaming Siren’ Warning

Former White House advisor and President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign manager, David Plouffe, issued a warning to his fellow Democrats on Friday. Remarking a Republican candidate’s victory on a special election in Florida this week, Plouffe said that the race’s results should serve as a “screaming siren” to Democrats that they have a “turnout issue” and could face another 2010. Speaking with Bloomberg’s Al Hunt, Plouffe said that Rep. David Jolly’s (R-FL) victory on Tuesday could serve as an indicator of events to come. “It doesn’t necessarily have to be a harbinger. We have a turnout issue,” Plouffe told Hunt. “And I

In an incident where nothing can be ruled out, is it a surprise that some relatives of the passengers on missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 are hoping it is a hijacking? To some it is a far-fetched conspiracy theory, and to others, it represents the only scenario that leaves open the possibility of seeing their loved ones alive. That´s how some of the families of the missing in Beijing feel. Authorities have been unified in their preliminary conclusions that terrorism does not appear to be behind the plane´s disappearance. But no one can rule it out. "I cannot confirm whether there

Something he apparently loves to do. To raise money for the After-School All-Stars charity he supports, the Governator is raffling off a trip to LA to spend

Headlines that Mitch McConnell wants to “crush” the Tea Party are spreading across conservative websites. But the New York Times article, which quotes McConnell, is—of shock to no one—misleading. The piece opens by providing a background of 2010 and 2012 Senate races in which conservative activist groups supported Tea Party candidates able to succeed in primaries, but unelectable in general races. The Times identifies groups such as the Senate Conservatives Fund, the Madison Project, and FreedomWorks as similar players in 2014 Senate campaigns. In Kentucky, Kansas, and Mississippi, Tea Party candidates, with help from the above-mentioned groups, are opposing incumbents—McConnell being one of

HONG KONG — Within an industry notorious for impoverishing shareholders and irking customers, Malaysia Airlines has stood out for its years of restructurings and losses. The company now has global recognition of a far more unfavorable kind after one of its jets disappeared four days ago with 239 people aboard. There has been no suggestion that the unrelenting financial pressures faced by the airline and its 19,000 employees somehow played a role in the disappearance of flight MH370 en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. But the revelation this week that the jet´s co-pilot allowed two female passengers to ride

Recent fundraising figures show the RNC faring better than its DNC counterpart in just about all areas. Notably, the RNC has no debt and nearly $10 Million in cash on hand. The same, however, cannot be said for the DNC, thanks in part to some clever money shuffling among kindred spirits. In the final two months of the 2012 election cycle, the DNC was strapped for cash, and opted to take out two low interest loans totaling $15 Million. The loans were provided by Amalgamated Bank, which uses the tagline, “America’s Labor Bank” and promises to continue “the progressive traditions of its

The phrase “cooped up” won’t hold quite the same meaning much longer if Californians have their way. Fertility is the missing chapter in sex education. Sobering facts about women’s declining fertility after their 20s are being withheld from ambitious young women, who are propelled along a career track devised for men. The refusal by public schools’ sex-education programs to acknowledge gender differences is betraying both boys and girls. The genders should be separated for sex counseling. It is absurd to avoid the harsh reality that boys have less to lose from casual serial sex than do girls, who risk pregnancy and whose future fertility can be compromised by disease. Boys need lessons in basic ethics and moral reasoning
