U.S. pro-Israel group:
Wait before Iran sanctions vote

United Press International, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 2/7/2014 1:57:46

Washington - The main pro-Israel U.S. lobby came out against an immediate vote on imposing sanctions on Iran, hours after 42 Republican senators demanded a vote within days. (Snip) "We agree with the chairman that stopping the Iranian nuclear program should rest on bipartisan support and that there should not be a vote at this time on the measure," AIPAC said in a statement. "We have not and are not calling for [an] immediate vote," an AIPAC official told the Washington newspaper the Hill. The New York Times said AIPAC previously pressured Senate Democrats to vote for the bill.

Comments:
AIPAC only has to wait till Iran develops & delivers a nuke to Israel, and US, to repeat their Nazi history. Their position is totally suicidal, considering they were for sanctions before they aren´t.

Washington - The U.S. Defense Department plans to ask Congress for $4.5 billion in extra missile defense funding over the next five years as part of the fiscal 2015 budget request, say congressional sources and an expert. (Snip) The Pentagon´s request for added funding comes despite continued pressure on military spending and cuts in other arms programs, a sign of Washington´s growing concern about missile development efforts by North Korea and Iran, the sources said. The White House plans to send its fiscal 2015 budget request to Congress on March 4. Missile defense is one of the biggest items in

London - If you’re unlucky enough to be stricken with a rare medical condition, you´d better hope your doctor watches the right television show. That was the lesson for one German man with severe heart failure and a puzzling mix of symptoms including fever, blindness, deafness and enlarged lymph nodes, which stumped doctors for months. The 55-year-old man was diagnosed only when he was referred to Dr. Juergen Schaefer, a fan of the U.S. television medical drama, ‘‘House.’’ ‘‘After five minutes, I knew what was wrong,’’ said Schaefer, who works at the Center for Undiagnosed Diseases in Marburg,

In Japan, a Beloved Deaf Composer

Tokyo - He was celebrated as a prolific musical genius whose compositions appeared in popular video games and the competition routine of a top figure skater in the coming Sochi Olympics. His deafness won him praise as Japan’s modern-day Beethoven. It turns out his magnum opus was his own masquerade. On Thursday, Japan learned that one of its most popular musical figures, Mamoru Samuragochi, 50, had staged an elaborate hoax in which someone else had secretly written his most famous compositions, and that he had perhaps even faked his hearing disability. Across a nation long captivated by Western classical music,

Washington - Clay Aiken, the 2003 runner-up on “American Idol,” officially announced on Wednesday that he is running for Congress in North Carolina. Now it is time to ponder some questions he might face on the stump: 1. Many Democrats in North Carolina have bailed out of Congressional races after being drawn into heavily Republican districts, like the one you are running in. How can you win? 2. What are your thoughts on the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership and how it might affect the North Carolina manufacturing industry? 3. What do you think is harder — placing in a national singing competition

A reporter from Bill O’Reilly’s television program attended House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s weekly press conference to confront her about why she won’t sit for an interview with the Fox News anchor. “Bill O’Reilly has a quick question for you,” the reporter, who had camera filming his inquiry, began. “He ran into you at the Kennedy Center Honors recently and he said you said you would do an interview with him, in fact he said you would do an interview in your office.” Pelosi chuckled and sought to brush off the question. “But I already did Greta,” Pelosi interrupted, referring to Fox News host Greta Van Susteren.

Verleur, a heavy smoker, was living in Prague and happened to spot the strange new product in a Vietnamese grocery store. The crude early version obviously didn’t work very well, but Verleur, a serial entrepreneur, immediately realized that if it did work, it could upend the tobacco industry. That was worth looking into: Cigarettes are a global business that generates more than half a trillion dollars every year, according to data from Euromonitor International. In its simplest form, an e-cigarette is a cartridge filled with a nicotine solution and a battery powering a coil that heats the solution into vapor,

Washington - House Speaker John Boehner promised Thursday that the GOP-controlled House won´t miss a late-February deadline to increase the government´s borrowing cap. "Look, we do not want to default on our debt, and we´re not going to default on our debt," Boehner said. The Ohio Republican held open the possibility that the House could consider a debt limit increase that´s "clean" of any GOP add-ons. Women may have many of the same risk factors for stroke as men – diabetes, high blood pressures, smoking, high cholesterol – but they also can face separate issues such as high blood pressure during pregnancy, the use of birth control pills and other hormonal and lifestyle factors. (Snip) A stroke occurs when a blood vessel to the brain is either blocked by a clot or bursts, the American Heart Association says. When that happens, part of the brain is no longer getting the blood and oxygen it needs, so it starts to die. Strokes can affect language, memory and vision as well as cause paralysis and other health issues, the group says.

The Obama administration has unilaterally eased restrictions on asylum seekers with loose or incidental ties to terror and insurgent groups, in a move one senator called "deeply alarming." The change, approved by Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and Secretary of State John Kerry, was announced Wednesday in the Federal Register. It would allow some individuals who provided "limited material support" to terror groups to be considered for entry into the U.S. Supporters of the change, including Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., argued that the current ban on anyone who has ever aided terrorists has unfairly blocked thousands of

Washington - U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner on Thursday joined other leading Republicans in expressing doubts that immigration reforms could be passed this year and put the blame on President Barack Obama. "I´ve never underestimated the difficulty in moving forward this year," Boehner said at his weekly news conference. (Snip) "One of the biggest obstacles that we face" in advancing immigration legislation, Boehner said, was a lack of trust in Obama to implement any law that might be enacted "as it is intended to be." As evidence of that, Boehner accused Obama of changing "the healthcare law on a whim,

The Congressional Budget Office estimated on Tuesday that the Affordable Care Act will reduce the number of full-time workers by 2.5 million over the next decade. That is mostly a good thing, a liberating result of the law. Of course, Republicans immediately tried to brand the findings as “devastating” and stark evidence of President Obama’s health care reform as a failure and a job killer. It is no such thing. (SNIP) The new law will free people, young and old, to pursue careers or retirement without having to worry about health coverage.

The Affordable Care Act, aka ObamaCare, became law almost four years ago. It became operational last Oct. 1. Yesterday, Feb. 4, 2014, the ACA may well have been dealt its death blow. The Congressional Budget Office released a major study of the government’s budget and its effect on the overall economy over the next 10 years. In dull bureaucratic language, it delivers a devastating analysis of the inefficiencies, ineffectualities and problematic social costs of ObamaCare. The one-two punch: Virtually as many Americans will lack health coverage in 10 years as before the law was passed — but 2 million fewer

Washington - Americans overwhelmingly favor a bill that would give most undocumented immigrants a pathway towards citizenship, according to a new national poll. And a CNN/ORC International survey also indicates that a majority of the public says that the government´s main focus should be legalizing the status of the undocumented rather than border security. The poll was released Thursday, the same day that House Speaker John Boehner signaled any action on immigration is unlikely this year because House Republicans don't trust President Barack Obama on the issue. According to the poll, 54% say the top priority for the

House committees are still digging into the IRS political targeting scandal, and based on a hearing Wednesday there´s more to learn. The day produced more evidence blowing apart President Obama´s claims that there was "not even a smidgen of corruption" or political motivation in the IRS handling of groups applying for tax-exempt status. Mr. Obama wants Americans to believe that the targeting resulted from the confusing tax law governing nonprofits, which he says was "difficult" to interpret and resulted in mere "bureaucratic" mistakes. This is also the Administration´s justification for issuing new regulations governing

The White House and congressional Democrats tried to limit the fallout Wednesday from the politically damaging conclusion in a Congressional Budget Office report that the Obamacare entitlement creates a major incentive for some people not to work. While some critics focused on a finding by the CBO that Obamacare will result in 2.5 million fewer workers over a decade, conservatives said the bigger fundamental issue highlighted in the report is one familiar to the welfare state — that taxpayer-funded government subsidies provide disincentives for full-time work. “People used to be stuck in jobs because they needed the health insurance,” said
