Obama bundler nominated as

Washington Examiner, by Joel Gehrke

Presidents often award diplomatic posts to campaign donors and fundraisers, but Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., suspects that Obama´s choice of ambassador to Argentina -- a man who bundled more than $500,000 for President Obama´s 2012 re-election campaign, but who has never been to the country -- is in over his head. "Have you been to Argentina?" Rubio asked Noah Mamet during a Senate.gov/hearings/nomination-02-06-2014">Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing Thursday. "I haven´t had the opportunity yet to be there," Mamet replied. "I´ve traveled pretty extensively around the world, but I haven´t yet had chance [to visit Argentina]." Rubio implied that Argentina is

This is just the norm for the 0bama regime. The idiot appointed as Ambassador to Norway knew nothing about how the country functioned. Then there´s Caroline Kennedy, who knew very little about Japan. I´m sure they´re very impressed with her brilliance and ability to speak coherently. s/o

Don´t recall? The press would recall for you, every week or so, if said display of ignorance had been committed by a Republican.

Oh, give Mamet a break; he´s been busy brushing up on his Rosetta Stone course in Argentinian. That way he can openly converse with the locals.
And he´s been busy studying a globe so he can try to figure out where it is.

No surprise here.
The Falklands have been British for over a hundred years but with the discovery of oil bankrupt Argentina is making noises about their Malvinas- or Maldives as out uninformed faux POTUS refers to them.
With such an uninformed POTUS -no surprise he appoints a political hack as Ambassador.
If Argentina goes to war to deflect attention from their woeful economic state-which side will Zippy take?
Our Ally UK or the leftist govt of Argentina?

I am not so concerned with the fact that he has not been to the country as I am with the fact that he is completely ignorant about the country, its culture, its politics, its problems. This seems to be a qualification for those Obama selects for ambassadors.

But, he will follow in the fine tradition of Hillary, Kerry, and Susan Rice.

It´s long been the practice for presidents to appoint big campaign donors to ambassadorships, but they´ve always gone to cushy, uneventful places like Switzerland, Austria or Ireland.

By contrast, the ambassadorships to troubled countries and to our larger rivals have almost always been given to professional diplomats, since their expertise is required in those situations.

It´s telling that Obama appoints a campaign bundler to an important and troubled place like Argentina. This isn´t going to go well.

The Wall Street Journal strongly suggested Wednesday that opponents of "comprehensive" immigration reform are mere racists, in a slew of commentary prompted by the controversy over former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush´s remark this week that illegal immigration was an "act of love." Though the Journal editorial page is often quite conservative, it frequently criticizes the Tea Party, and it tends to favor a liberal policy on immigration reform. In an editorial entitled "Jeb Bush´s Immigration Heresy," the Journal´s editorial writers assert that Bush has "already got a better immigration message than the self-defeating "self-deportation" crowd that cost the GOP so

WASHINGTON — Returning once again to a grief-stricken corner of America, President Barack Obama is reprising his role as chief comforter, mourning with families of those killed last week at Fort Hood and offering solace to the nation. It´s a duty that Obama has had to fulfill far too often. Tucson. Aurora. Newtown. Boston. Washington Navy Yard. Fort Hood — twice. The names of these communities have all become synonymous with tragedy in the years since Obama took office, each challenging the president to find ways to impart meaning to senseless death. In one case the Office of Special Counsel, which investigates federal employees who conduct politics on government time, said it was “commonplace” in a Dallas IRS office for employees to have pro-Obama screensavers on their computers, and to have campaign-style buttons and stickers at their office. People are continuing to debate fiercely what Ryan said and whether he meant to propagate racially coded explanations of poverty´s roots. But put that aside for a moment. A caveat right off the bat: RAND’s estimate only runs through March 28 whereas the actual deadline for signing up was March 31st. Given the crush of traffic on Healthcare.gov in late March, many more people could have signed up over those last three days than were captured by these numbers. On the other hand, the White House was claiming six million sign-ups as of March 27. There’s no way to reconcile that with RAND’s data. One of them is wrong. Maybe both, in fact.
