Breitbart Big Government, by Matthew Boyle

Maybe it´s too early to call it an official 2016 “cattle call,” but the group of Republicans headlining an April New Hampshire event is going to get a lot of tongues wagging. Featured speakers include Sens. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Mike Lee (R-UT), Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Donald Trump, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, and American Enterprise Institute (AEI) President Arthur Brooks. Citizens United and Americans For Prosperity Foundation are joining forces to host the April 12 event, titled the “Freedom Summit,” in Manchester, New Hampshire. Breitbart News will be live broadcasting the event online

Criminy! There´s a mixed bag! Something for everyone. Why not...

We were very impressed with Mike Lee when we saw him recently...

I like Marsha Blackburn. She speaks well, seems to know what she is talking about, and she doesn´t do the Hillary screech.
I think she would do well, and would be a great choice for VP in 2016.

Reagan´s Roadmap to Victory ~11 Principles of a Reagan Conservative~by Paul Kengor, Beaufort Books, 133 pages, $16.95~~ Do you miss President Reagan? Do you smile every time you see a film clip of our 40th president on some television show? And do you lunge for the remote control and flip from Fox News to a movie channel every time one of the current Republican would-be presidents starts to say something so weird, so clumsy, so blindingly stupid you´d think he was actually trying to help Hillary get elected? Federal judge strikes down

A federal judge in Norfolk struck down as unconstitutional Virginia’s ban on same-sex marriage Thursday night, saying the country has “arrived upon another moment in history when We the People becomes more inclusive, and our freedom more perfect.” U.S. District Judge Arenda L. Wright Allen issued a sweeping 41-page opinion that mentioned at length Virginia’s past in denying interracial marriage and quoted Abraham Lincoln. She struck the constitutional amendment Virginia voters approved in 2006 that both bans same-sex marriage and forbids recognition of such unions performed elsewhere. She stayed her decision pending appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for

Suddenly, with two roll-call votes, the messy, multi-issue battles of the 2014 elections have been refocused on two central issues that will put the GOP back in charge of Congress. The budget and debt-limit fights have been set aside for the time being, with the swift votes this week for a debt-limit extension and the earlier passage of a budget to keep the government running for the rest of this year. This means that the midterm election battles for the rest of this year will be turned into a clear referendum on the voters’ two foremost concerns: a weak, jobless

Los Angeles- In case you were wondering, things in California just got a little weird. Okay, maybe not “just.” Let me be more specific: The congressional election in California’s 33rd District, a coastal tract encompassing some of the wealthiest, most liberal quarters of Los Angeles County?—?Bel Air, Santa Monica, and Beverly Hills, to name a few?—?just got a little weird. On January 30, Henry Waxman, the district’s long-serving and notoriously cantankerous representative, surprised everyone by announcing he would retire at the end of this term. Since arriving in Congress in 1975, Waxman has been a dogged champion of progressive causes

My five-year-old is extravagantly furious at being thwarted. I have infringed her human rights by mildly suggesting that she turn off the television and put some clothes on. I can see the dark storm clouds gathering on her thunderous brow, her eyes narrowing, mouth pursed in Shakespearean displeasure as she reaches for the most hurtful, serpent’s tooth ingratitude she can think of. “You’re Not My Friend Any More!” To which I reply, swift as Lady Macbeth’s dagger, “I never was your friend in the first place, darling. The federal government may have shut its doors due to weather conditions — but the guards tasked to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier aren’t so quick to abandon their posts. With what’s being billed as the storm of the season dumping inches of snow on the Washington, D.C., region, leaving a cloud of closures in its wake — Capitol Hill, area schools, airports, Metro bus service and almost all government offices in Maryland, the capital city and Virginia — the stalwart sentries for some of America’s most revered military sites stand tall and fast.

I worked in Mutual Radio for 20 years. I’ve been in the business 57 years. I have never seen a bias off the air or on,” he told Newsmax TV. “I’ve never seen anyone say, let’s go get this person today, let’s really ram it into him,” he went on. “I’ve never seen it. For those who didn´t know much about Shirley Temple, her passing this week revealed two surprises. First, that her post-Hollywood career was dominated by public service. She ran (unsuccessfully) for Congress in 1967, served as a representative to the United Nations and was ambassador to Ghana and Czechoslovakia. And second, she was a Republican. She was that rarest of things nowadays: a Hollywood star who admitted to voting for the GOP. Today, Hollywood appears uniformly liberal. But once upon a time, things were different. While researching my forthcoming book on Hollywood and politics, I was surprised to discover how many

Senate Democrats facing tough elections this year want the Internal Revenue Service to play a more aggressive role in regulating outside groups expected to spend millions of dollars on their races. In the wake of the IRS targeting scandal, the Democrats are publicly prodding the agency instead of lobbying them directly. They are also careful to say the IRS should treat conservative and liberal groups equally, but they’re concerned about an impending tidal wave of attack ads funded by GOP-allied organizations. Much of the funding for those groups is secret, in contrast to the donations lawmakers collect, which must be

GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, MI – After a five-year hiatus, a Grand Rapids Township resident is again putting snow to good use by sculpting giant animals in his front yard. Stephen Garcia´s returning debut? A life-sized shark swimming in a wave that runs the length of his and his girlfriend´s home at 2040 Four Mile Road NE, east of Plainfield Avenue. Its bright red mouth – complete with pointy teeth – is large enough for a human to take a seat inside. The big fish has been turning heads since Garcia sprayed it with a coat of paint earlier this week.

I could write another post about how lawless Obama’s constant re-writing of law without regard for the text of said law is. It is lawless, and it does threaten the foundations of the republic — Charles Krauthammer and Jonathan Turley, one conservative, the other liberal, agree on that. It sets a horrible precedent for future presidents to rule by fiat. It is a violation of the spirit and purpose of the Constitution. Barack Obama is getting away with it because, as I’ve written before, he has hacked the Constitution. I’m not alone in understanding that Obama has hacked the Constitution

Famed former CNN host Larry King said he has never heard of Juanita Broaddrick Thursday in an interview with Steve Malzberg on Newsmax TV. Broadrrick, a former Arkansas nursing home worker, accused President Clinton of raping her during the late 1970s in a 1998 Dateline interview. Less than 24 hours after President Obama illegally rewrote the law he had previously jammed down Boehner´s -- and the country´s -- throat, Boehner handed the budding dictator a clean debt-ceiling hike. Last October, Obama vindictively shut down the federal government upon his having refused to delay ObamaCare, which of course is exactly what he himself lawlessly did on February 10, 2014! Of course, Boehner is hardly in a position to argue now, having foolishly (immensely so) accepted responsibility for the shutdown. Never mind Boehner´s cowardice (we´ll get to that in a moment); what kind of moron cedes that kind of maneuverability to

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was in direct contact with President Barack Obama at least 18 times between October 2012 and October 2013, including seven occasions where her draft calendar showed Obamacare as the topic of conversation. The news appears to contradict her insistence that Obama was in the dark about problems plaguing the ill-fated healthcare.gov website in the months leading up to its October 1, 2013 launch. The Hill newspaper reported Thursday that documents released through a Freedom of Information Act request show meetings, events and phone calls where the two were together. They also show at
