Parents upset over ‘game´ at
middle school that asked questions
like ‘Do your parents drink?’ and
‘Has anyone in your family been in jail?’

The game was called “Cross the Line,” an ironic title because that’s exactly what parents of students at a middle school in Marinette, Wisconsin think the educators did. WLUK Fox 11 News is reporting that Marinette Middle School played the game in which 5th through 8th graders were grouped together and asked to step forward if they had a “yes” answer to questions like, “Do your parents drink?” and “Has anyone in your family been to jail?” (Video) It’s unclear who exactly was leading the game. Parent Amanda Fifarek was not happy with the activity, telling WLUK, “It was too

A few years ago, the school where my kids went decided to implement a ´peer-to-peer´ counseling session, where students sat in a circle and discussed very personal things. I told the school that my daughter was there to get an education and not to counsel troubled students. It was not well received by the administration, but soon most parents came to the same conclusion and the project was dropped.

I think troubled students need real counseling, and while I would hope my child would be kind, I don´t think middle school students are equipped for that.

My now 37 year old daughter was reduced to tears, when a "visiting" physician was propagandizing to 3rd graders regarding smoking (25 years ago).

He requested that anyone who had a parent who smoked raise their hand, if they had two parents who smoked raise both hands. She was mortified, because at the time we both smoked. Why SHAME the child? They were to go home and "school" their parents. I went up to the school principal´s office, and "schooled" them.

At least the parents found out about the ´game´. When my now 32 year old was in kindergarten during the ´Just Say No´ days, his teacher was discussing all kinds of drugs which included caffeine. My son informed his teacher that mommy did drugs every morning- the dreaded coffee. When called to the office later that day, I broke out in laughter. The Principal even admitted how dumb it was.

The whole idea of "Limited Government" is based on the notion that people are different and no one really knows why we are here or what is really important.

Liberals are dangerous because they DO think that they know better and are anxious to use the power of government to enforce their new and improved religion.

The ´Free Thinkers´ are the conservatives who are ready to fight for your right to be left alone.

If so, are parents informed of any with past issues? Does this school teach fundamentals, or does it consider political issues more important to the curriculum? I want to know.

I´m old fashioned. I believe that a school exists for the purpose of primarily teaching a child how to read and write and understand mathematics. Secondarily to have geographic knowledge of the world and a grasp of history. These are good basics upon which to extend learning - learning should never be indoctrination, subtle or otherwise. Parents must be extra vigilant in recognizing where indoctrination is happening -once you let the camel shove his nose under the tent, pretty soon he´s in there with you..

I told my son that he was never, ever to discuss personal issues or family issues at school. I started the conversation when he went to kindergarten and reminded him regularly. He was chastised by his 2nd grade teacher for eating a poptart for breakfast after she made all the kids tell what they had for breakfast that morning (and the teacher was fat!). Nerve. When I saw all the anti-gun articles in my son´s pediatrician office, I had to remind him again never to discuss any private family info with anyone. Puts a lot of pressure on our kids when you teach them to respect authority and tell the truth. Scary times.

For more than 30 years, Hustler’s flamboyant publisher Larry Flynt has continued to send the monthly magazine to every member of Congress. Since 1983, Hustler has sent the porno mags in plain manila envelopes to every Congressional office as Mr. Flynt’s unique way of petitioning the government, National Journal reported. Congress tried in 1984 to stop the unwanted porn subscription, but the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruled two years later that the delivery of the magazine could not be stopped under the First Amendment. “Receiving Hustler once each month would not unduly burden a Member of Congress,”

He then openly criticized GOP lawmakers for trying to repeal his law. “They still can’t bring themselves to admit that the Affordable Care Act is working,” he said. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. How do you ensure that you won’t be ostracized, denounced, or fired if you are a media celebrity, captain of industry, or high public official? For some, sexist banter is certainly no problem. Stand-up comedian Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a c–t and a tw-t, but suffered no ill consequences. David Letterman joked on air that Sarah Palin’s 14-year-old daughter had had sex with Alex Rodriguez during a New York Yankees game. There was no downside to that either.
