NHTSA Will Require
Vehicle to Vehicle Communications
in All New Cars, Trucks

DailyTech.com, by Tiffany Kaiser

Original Article

It´s been decided that vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications, which allow cars and trucks to "talk" with one another and their surroundings, will move from just research to actual implementation thanks to a recent approval. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) wants to put V2V technology in all new cars and trucks as a way of avoiding traffic accidents and fatalities. For example, your car could let you know that another vehicle ahead is about to blow through a stop sign in an attempt to avoid a crash.

That´s sound like a good socialist idea. Now a car that talks can communicate with another car that talks and they can avoid each other by steering into the path of cars that don´t talk.

Like all good Nanny State ideas, there will be undesirable consequences. Such as, "It´s all right if I text while driving, because my car will watch out for me," and multiple variations on that theme. And what about police and HP? Will they now be monitoring our speed without need of radar/laser? The possibilities for disaster with this are bountiful indeed.

The hacker possibilities are amazing. Can you imagine a kid in an apartment with a gadget that starts making all the cars go into accident avoidance? A box tossed into some bushes that randomly freaks cars out. A button on your smartphone that engages the brakes of the driver tailgating you. Hahahaha! I like that one. All possible with V2V.

When your car is broadcasting a radio signal, it becomes simple to track you, listen in on your conversations and remotely control your car.
Look how they encouraged the internet and now there is no privacy in communications at all. Your every thought and secret is there for the NSA to grab, forever. They even watch you through the camera. Thats not paranoia. They admitted it.
If the government is for it, it is bad for freedom. Easy rule, always right.

In a year when California Democrats are worried about motivating their voters, Gov. Jerry Brown heard another unwelcome message Saturday: Some Democratic activists are bristling over his administration´s policies on hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. Appearing at a state Democratic Party convention in Los Angeles, Brown found himself forced to speak over a noisy group of sign-waving protesters in his first major campaign speech since formally declaring his candidacy last month.

Republicans fighting a yearslong unionization effort at the Volkswagen plant in Tennessee painted a grim picture in the days leading up to last week’s vote. They said if Chattanooga employees joined the United Auto Workers, jobs would go elsewhere and incentives for the company would disappear. Now that workers have rejected the UAW in a close vote, attention turns to whether the GOP can fulfill its promises that keeping the union out means more jobs will come rolling in, the next great chapter in the flourishing of foreign auto makers in the South.

“Originalism” is an influential theory of constitutional interpretation. In the 1960s, Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black, a prominent liberal, marched proudly under the originalist banner. In the modern era, originalism is championed by Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, the court’s most conservative members. In its least attractive form, practiced by politicians rather than judges, originalism is ideological posturing with a constitutional veneer -- a naive or cynical way of attributing the views of the current political right to the Constitution’s ratifiers. But for all those who seek to restrain judicial power, originalism should be attractive. At the same time, the

One of the best arguments for health-insurance reform is that our traditional employer-based system often locked people into jobs they wanted to leave but couldn´t because they feared they wouldn´t be able to get affordable coverage elsewhere. This worry was pronounced for people with pre-existing conditions but not limited to them. Consider families with young children in which one of the parents would like to get out of the formal labor market for a while to take care of the kids. In the old system, the choices of such couples were constrained if only one of the two received employer-provided family

Crude oil produced in North America’s Bakken region may be more flammable and therefore more dangerous to ship by rail than crude from other areas, a U.S. regulator said after studying the question for four months. The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration announced its preliminary conclusion three days after a BNSF Railway Co. train carrying oil caught fire after a collision in Casselton, North Dakota. The regulator “is reinforcing the requirement to properly test, characterize, classify, and where appropriate sufficiently degasify hazardous materials prior to and during transportation,” it said in a statement posted on its website today.

A group of 10 U.S. Senators introduced a bipartisan bill on Thursday to eliminate the corn ethanol mandate, arguing that current law raises the cost of food and animal feed and damages the environment. The bill, introduced by Dianne Feinstein, a California Democrat; Tom Coburn, an Oklahoma Republican; and eight cosponsors, faces an uphill battle as many lawmakers from agricultural states support the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS)that dictates that rising volumes of ethanol made from grains, including corn, be blended into motor fuel.

American football is a violent game and it is rare that one ends without injury. A dislocated shoulder, broken ribs, cracked collarbones, or a torn ACL -- this and more is what we watch on the weekends. Aiming for the quarterback is axiomatic. If defenders can hurry, shake, or hurt the quarterback, he can lose his rhythm or be driven from the game, leaving the offense in the hands of a second or even third-string player.

Before getting to the speech itself, it’s worth noting a few things. When the Democrats passed and Barack Obama signed Obamacare, the majority opposed it. About 56%, in fact. A majority have consistently opposed that law ever since. A RAND study pours buckets of cold water on the Obama administration’s claims that it has nearly reached 7 million sign-ups for Obamacare. The whole point of Obamacare, supposedly, was to insure the uninsured and bend the cost curve down. Those who had insurance were supposed to be able to keep it. Families were supposed to start saving about $2500 a year. If you believed the Obama administration. Reality, according to RAND‘s study, is that the Obama administration’s 7 million figure is deceptive. Supposing 7 million have actually signed up and paid their first premium — which is not a given,
