WASHINGTON -- Health organizations and U.S. nutrition experts say they are calling on fast-food restaurant chains to take sugary drinks off their children´s menus. Margo G. Wootan, nutrition policy director at the Center for Science in the Public Interest, said McDonald´s agreed to drop soda and sugary drinks from Happy Meal menus last year, and 100 U.S. and local health organizations along with nutritional experts said in a letter to Wendy´s, Burger King and 21 other restaurant chains that they too should remove the items from their children´s menus. Subway, Chipotle, Arby´s and Panera already exclude sugary drinks from kids´

Why does anyone have to be governed by a bunch of busy bodies sticking their collective noses into everyone´s business?

If someone wants sweet stuff why is it their business. They should just shut up. That´s my opinion.

Are these same health organizations and U.S. nutrition experts pressing the US government to stop allowing purchase of soda, candy, frozen pizzas, potato chips and other snacks, etc, through the Food Stamp program?

Are they pressing to end the ability of Food Stamp purchases of fast food from Pizza Hut, Burger King, McDonalds, and others?

Of course not.

So, my granddaughters and I will do the same thing we did when they discovered the unpalatable fries in their Happy Meals after Michelle issued her healthy orders. I ordered additional "adult" fries for them. Now, I guess, I´ll order additional soft drinks to serve the same purpose. Kids won´t eat or drink something they don´t want.

Parents can decline the soda and order water instead..it is the Parents´ decision.
My kids grew up before Happy Meals, when drinks cost extra..they were instructed to order water (money was tight) ..that extra 4 bucks saved meant a lot to the budget. And sugared drinks kill the appetite for food..but it is no one else´s business what someone else´s kids drink.

They want parents eliminated so they can raise some lock step non thinking puppets if would be parents refuse to abort them.
What we want is for all Social nannies and the Government to mind their own business.
When these Nannies give up their wine and drugs we may have a different attitude.

A new and comprehensive comparison of health insurance options offered by Obamacare versus private websites finds that President Obama´s program offers less choice and higher prices than promised by the White House and leading Democrats. Adding to the list of broken health care promises, the study from the National Center for Public Policy Research found that there were more and cheaper options available on websites outside the health insurance exchange in 2013 than on healthcare.gov and state Obamacare exchanges. The report, "Obamacare Exchanges: Less Choice, Higher Prices,” looked at options available for a 27-year-old single person and a 57-year-old couple in metropolitan

The Supreme Court has declined to hear a case about a German home-schooling family who is seeking asylum status in the United States. The court rejected the case Monday without comment. Devout Christians Uwe and Hannelore Romeike have been seeking asylum because German law does not permit home-schooling and requires children to attend state-approved schools. The Romeikes and their six children moved to Tennessee in 2008 to avoid hefty fines and possible jail time. The family initially was granted asylum by a U.S. immigration judge. That judgment was overturned by an immigration panel, which said the family was not persecuted and was not eligible

The Environmental Protection Agency on Monday set new limits on the amount of sulfur permitted in gasoline, capping a lobbying battle that pitted the oil and refining industries against automakers and public health groups. The EPA´s "Tier 3" gasoline rule ratchets down sulfur content to 10 parts per million from 30. The agency said it would bring $13 in health benefits for every dollar spent to comply with the standard, amounting to between $6.7 billion and $19 billion in annual health benefits by 2030. Those health benefits include reducing respiratory — such as asthma — and heart ailments linked to soot,

It’s well known that Bush and Putin got on well at first. But when the relationship soured, Bush became exasperated by his talks with the Russian bully. Putin seemed to delight in debating Bush. FOR FIVE YEARS, President Obama has led a foreign policy based more on how he thinks the world should operate than on reality. It was a world in which “the tide of war is receding” and the United States could, without much risk, radically reduce the size of its armed forces. Other leaders, in this vision, would behave rationally and in the interest of their people and the world. Invasions, brute force, great-power games and shifting alliances — these were things of the past. Secretary of State John F. Kerry displayed this mindset on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday when he

President Obama´s proclaimed strategy to "bypass Congress" — most conspicuously his broad rewriting of the Affordable Care Act — has given unusual prominence to a fairly arcane legal doctrine: standing. Standing is what is preventing a potential blizzard of litigation against the president´s unilateral decrees, and ironically, it´s a doctrine liberal jurists have long decried. To challenge the government in federal court, it isn´t enough to simply believe that the government´s conduct is illegal or even unconstitutional. Federal courts can hear only specific disputes about the law as applied to particular people. To be heard in court, a person must have
