Killer batch of white heroin responsible
for at least 100 deaths across
the country... and rising

Daily Mail [UK], by Ryan Gorman

Original Article

Posted By:happywarrior, 2/2/2014 5:31:42 PM

Heroin overdose deaths across the country are spiking as a deadly new variant of the drug mixed with a powerful painkiller is spreading from New Hampshire to Washington State. The lethal combination of heroin and fentanyl, an opiate used to soothe the pain of cancer patients, is blamed for about 100 deaths from coast to coast. It is variously labelled as ‘bud ice,’ ‘income tax’ and ‘theraflu,’ authorities say. The hardest hit states in the epidemic are Maryland, with more than three dozen deaths since September, and Pennsylvania, with almost two dozen this month alone, according to reports.

Comments:
They believe Philip Seymour Hoffman may have overdosed on this heroin.

He was a fool for taking an illegal drug. Until they are legalized, the "heroin" could have ANYTHING mixed in it.

The same is true for "pot," which is why we will never have accurate evidence of the harms we wish to attribute to "pot."

Harmful or not, the poor guy has a right to ingest what he wants. It´s his body. It´s just sad that he was, apparently, defrauded.

With deadly consequences!

Illegality may not cause the majority of such deaths, but it should never cause any.

I respect the right of any non-incarcerated adult to ingest whatever he can buy, make, or grow for his own consumption (or to give or sell to any other such adult).

To all Prohibitionists - - doesn´t this make you proud that poison "illegal" drugs are killing people who did no harm to anyone else?

Chalk up another dead body up to Prohibition - - and toss it onto the enormous pile of innocents already killed.

I don´t think heroine has to have "poison" in it to kill someone. Plenty of overdoses on the real deal. Pretty poisonous to begin with.

Heroin makes you steal from your family to feed your habit. It is an insatiable monster that strips you of everything. As long as you have money you´ll spend every dollar to feed it. You only stop when you hit bottom. The last thing we need to do is legalize it.

#10 is correct. It killed my straight-A, athlete goddaughter. Took only one time to hook her...a boy cruising the parking lot at the high school started a whole bunch of kids on it. 4 died, many more ended up in rehab, including my goddaughter, but it only takes one temptation you give into, and this stuff has you again. The last temptation killed her a week after her 20th birthday and a year of being clean.

This stuff (heroin) is bad, and today´s kids think it´s a new and exciting thing--not the way heroin use was viewed by most back in the 60´s.

The heroin in Hoffman´s possession was the brand "Ace of Spades," which was being sold around Brooklyn years ago. New dealer?

A day after the U.S. said it would not allow Iran’s proposed U.N. envoy Hamid Aboutalebi, a diplomat with links to the 1979 hostage crisis, to enter the country, Iran has dismissed the decision and affirmed it would take the issue directly to the U.N. “We do not have a replacement for Mr. Aboutalebi and we will pursue the matter via legal mechanisms anticipated in the United Nations,” said Abbas Araghchi, a senior Foreign Ministry official, as quoted by Iran’s official IRNA news agency. The State Department has no idea what happened to $6 billion used to pay its contractors. In a special “management alert” made public Thursday, the State Department’s Inspector General Steve Linick warned “significant financial risk and a lack of internal control at the department has led to billions of unaccounted dollars over the last six years. The alert was just the latest example of the federal government’s continued struggle with oversight over its outside contractors. The lack of oversight “exposes the department to significant financial risk,” the auditor said. “It creates conditions conducive to fraud, as corrupt individuals may attempt
