Elizabeth Warren: Allow Post Office to
Offer Checking Accounts, Small Loans

Breitbart's Big Government, by Jeffrey Poor

In November, the U.S. Postal Service reported it had a $5 billion loss for Fiscal Year 2013, its seventh consecutive year with loss. At the time, Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe blamed Congress for the loss, citing an “inflexible business model.” “We’ve achieved some excellent results for the year in terms of innovations, revenue gains, and cost reductions, but without major legislative changes we cannot overcome the limitations of our inflexible business model,” Donahoe said. “Congress is moving forward with legislation that has the potential to give us greater flexibility and put us back on a firm financial footing

I was going to suggest selling used and new cars. Millions of people buy cars.

Lots of poor people would also like to have one, or several, but lack money. They would be given ObamaCars.

And the USPS, being federal, could be authorized to issue federal licence plates and driver licences. Any objection from the states would be racist or sexist or in some way mean-spirited.

The idea actually makes sense. There are a large number of citizens who spend a significant chunk of their income on basic financial services. This would be a better option than check cashing services and crooked payday loan operations. It could help bring solvency to the post office.

She´s not dumb, she is dangerous. Beware of this woman.

#7 - What doesn´t make any sense is entrusting the government with personal funds. You can ask three different IRS people about your taxes and you´re gonna get three different answers! Putting personal funds anywhere within reach of these vultures is asking for trouble. This government is broke and they´re looking for ways to conveniently grab money when the mud hits the fan!

The Postal Service is broke, survives on Congressional handouts and hasn´t made a profit since Warren Harding; so let´s make a Bank out of it. What a marvelous idea! Hopefully several asylum ambulances are actively looking for Warren.

Yes, the post office is so proficient at what it is already tasked to do, getting even more of our personal data onto government servers makes a whole lot of sense.

There´s a pretty good rule of thumb on whether an idea coming out of DC is a good one. If a Republican came up with the idea, the odds are 3 in 10 that it may work. If a Democrat came up with the idea, the odds are zero in 10 that it will work but 10 in 10 that it will get additional D votes.

Would you open an account in a ´real´ bank that has operated in the red since it was opened? Then you´ll love Post Office Banking.

Maybe they can incorporate it into an Obamacare office too, so all your government problems would be in one place.

Wonder if You´ll need an ID to open an account?

They would have to hire thousands of new employees with the expertise to run these type of operations, as the current personnel is certainly not qualified, and these would be Government employees. And when these new operations start losing money, they can move into additional new areas, such as building solar panels. Ms Warren should go back to the asylum she came out of, in my opinion. There are banks, credit unions, and lending companies aplenty to take care of these two functions and the last thing the U.S. needs is Government involvement at the retail level.

While they are at it, they might have the IRS go into the debt collection business on the side, the NSA could do some private detective work (divorce cases), the USDA could start a line of hamburger joints, the DEA could set up retail shops, etc. Pretty soon the govern would be solvent.

My guess is that most Lowfos don´t even know how to write and post a letter, much less find their way to a post office. And loans at the post office would give a whole new meaning to the saying "going postal." This idea is going to be fodder for the jokes on TV--at least it should be--it´s that stupid.

The Postal Service needs to be run as enumerated in the Constitution and Federalist Papers.

I hate this analogy they are a business, not true. This business model vision has carried over to our armed services especially the United States Air Force.

I recently talked to an Air Force Lieutenant who complained that is work hours extended past 40hrs per week. I said you are lucky we do not have a major armed conflict going on, you would be another boot on the ground. He said "Boots on the ground is not the Air Force Mission." Go figure?

On Wednesday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer reacted to criticism from conservative radio host Mark Levin, who had taken to his radio show on Tuesday night to remind his listeners that Krauthammer once worked a speechwriter for the 1984 Democratic presidential nominee, former Vice President Walter Mondale. Krauthammer author of “Things That Matter: Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes, and Politics,” mocked the notion his position

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter suggested Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin orchestrated the chemical weapons attacks in Syria to “make Obama look like a monkey.” Coulter, author of the forthcoming book “Never Trust a Liberal over 3 — Especially a Republican,” told Fox News host Sean Hannity that it’s “not looking good for Obama.” "[T]hese Democrats think being president is a Hollywood movie,” she said. “If they just come out and say it is in America’s national security interest, Americans will all swoon like they do in ‘The West Wing’ when Aaron Sorkin is writing it.”

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

If the Rev. John DeBonville could preach a sermon to lift the souls of churchgoers across America, his message would be simple: Stop dressing so tacky for church. DeBonville has heard about the “come as you are” approach to dressing down for Sunday service, but he says the Sabbath is getting too sloppy. When he scans the pews of churches, DeBonville sees rows of people dressed in their Sunday worst. They saunter into church in baggy shorts, flip-flop sandals, tennis shoes and grubby T-shirts. Some even slide into the pews carrying coffee in plastic foam containers as if they’re going to Starbucks. “It’s like

As he moves from lobbyists to the golf course, from press conferences to the tanning bed, he remains oblivious to all that is around him. He has power, incredible power, and yet to this day he has no understanding of the election that made it so. Moreover, all around him are astonishing opportunities for him to be an historic figure -- one who could and should be the man who did more than any other single person in turning back the red tide of Obama. It’s all there for Speaker of the House, and yet John Boehner manages to miss

President Obama asserts that 8 million people have signed up for Obamacare, as though that were something to be proud of. In fact, Obamacare has always been a fiasco from a fiscal perspective–a black hole of subsidies and expanded Medicaid, with largely fictitious mechanisms in place to pay for it. As the number of subsidized participants grows, the disaster gets worse. Charles Blahous explains: Our national discussion…is missing the truly significant story here; what is unfolding before our eyes is a colossal fiscal disaster, poised to haunt legislators and taxpayers for decades to come. It is quite possible that the ACA is

“On the third day, he rose again.” That line, from the Nicene Creed, is a foundational statement of Christian belief. It declares that three days after Jesus died on the cross, he was resurrected, a glimmer of the eternal life promised to believers. It’s the heart of the Easter story in seven little words. But how that statement is interpreted is the source of some of the deepest rifts in Christianity — and a stumbling block for some Christians, and more than a few skeptics. Did Jesus literally come back from the dead in a bodily resurrection, as many traditionalist

In an op-ed published in the Boston Globe on Easter Sunday and posted on the State Department website, Secretary of State John Kerry recalled his days as an altar boy and pointed out that he is “the first Catholic Secretary of State in 33 years.” Alexander Haig, who served as secretary of state to President Ronald Reagan from January 1981 to July 1982, was also a Catholic. Last month, I traveled to Rome with President Obama, where I was honored to meet His Holiness Pope Francis,” said Kerry. “As an altar boy six decades ago, I never imagined that I

It’s time for Western states to take control of federal lands within their borders, lawmakers and county commissioners from Western states said at Utah’s Capitol on Friday. More than 50 political leaders from nine states convened for the first time to talk about their joint goal: wresting control of oil-, timber -and mineral-rich lands away from the feds. "It’s simply time," said Rep. Ken Ivory, R-West Jordan, who organized the Legislative Summit on the Transfer for Public Lands along with Montana state Sen. Jennifer Fielder. "The urgency is now." Utah House Speaker Becky Lockhart, R-Provo, was flanked by a dozen participants, including

If expanding the guest list to include Michelle Obama at graduation for high school students in the Kansas capital city means fewer seats for friends and family, some students and their parents would prefer the first lady not attend. A furor over what the Topeka school district considers an honor has erupted after plans were announced for Obama to address a combined graduation ceremony for five area high schools next month an 8,000-seat arena. For some, it was the prospect of a tight limit on the number of seats allotted to each graduate. For others, it was the notion that Obama´s speech,
