Pete Seeger: A Mean-Spirited
and Vengeful Recollection

PJ Media, by David Goldman

Original Article

I first heard Pete Seeger perform when I was five or six, when I was a red-diaper baby and he was blacklisted and drunk. What I recall most about the encounter was that the tip of his needle-nose glowed bright red. He was performing for a children’s group of some sort at a time when his Communist background kept him out of public venues. His records — not just the Weavers albums, but the early Asch 78´s of the Almanac Singers — were daily fare in my home, along with Woody Guthrie’s children’s songs. My parents knew Guthrie casually; my

FTA:"There is no such thing as an American “folk.” We are a people summoned to these shores by an idea, not common ties of blood and culture. There is folk music in America where pockets of ethnicity resisted assimilation: African-American blues, for example, or the English songs frozen in amber in white Appalachia."

Excellent point about what "folk" music really is.

The Communist Socialist Revolution was based on the then-failing Agrarian Age, being replaced with the industrial age. Obama´s socialist revolution is based on the now failing industrial age, being replaced with the software age.

How many time has obama complained about bank tellers being replaced with machines.

Libs are so totally Retro.

I loved the bit about Seeger being such a musical fraud. FTA: "any idiot who could play three chords on a guitar could plunk and howl through most of his repertoire." Seeger put on this ´from the hills hick act´ yet his dad was a classical violinist & his mom a musicologist.

According to his biography, Pete Seeger was sent away to boarding school at the age of four.

I guess wealthy Mom & Dad were communists, too--leaving the raising of their children to other people.

A primary duty of a sovereign nation is to put policies in place to protect the country from both military and economic aggressors. This normally includes the creation of a capable military force (and protective military alliances) and competent economic policies to make sure the country is not dependent on key resources from or exports to potential enemies. Ukraine, for a variety of reasons, some outside its control, violated these defensive principles. (Snip) The Department of Energy has been engaging in regulation by strangulation. If it isn´t fermented in Tennessee from mash of at least 51 percent corn, aged in new charred oak barrels, filtered through maple charcoal and bottled at a minimum of 80 proof, it isn´t Tennessee whiskey. So says a year-old law that resembles almost to the letter the process used to make Jack Daniel´s, the world´s best-known Tennessee whiskey. Now state lawmakers are considering dialing back some of those requirements that they say make it too difficult for craft distilleries to market their spirits as Tennessee whiskey, a distinctive and popular draw in the booming American liquor business. But the

John Kerry has said some criminally stupid things in his time. Stock markets around the world fell today, led by the 246 point dive, or 1.5%, for the U.S. Dow Jones Industrial Average and the 1.9% drop for German stock market index. Analysts generally pointed to worries about a shrinking Chinese lending and the potential trade war between Russia and the West, but I am more concerned that since the beginning of 2014 food prices have skyrocketed. The Federal Reserve must be concerned that their international support for “cheap money policies” to stimulate economic growth may be funding commodity speculation that is driving prices higher and creating wide spread misery.

President Obama on Monday slapped Russia with the kinds of economic sanctions not seen since the Cold War, but the administration’s supposed hard line was met with mockery and a “collective shrug” in Moscow, Kiev and Washington. One day after Crimeans voted overwhelmingly to secede from Ukraine and join Russia, the White House and its partners in the European Union responded by targeting high-ranking officials in Moscow along with pro-Russian figures responsible for the unrest in Ukraine. The move adds even more tension to a dramatic standoff between Russia and the West, but early signs suggest the latest round of

Hillary Clinton may well be the most "known" politician in the world. She and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, have been on the national stage for more than two decades -- traveling from Arkansas to the White House to the Senate to the 2008 campaign trail and finally to the State Department. During that time, every look and utterance from Hillary has been examined, then examined again, then analyzed, then overanalyzed. That´s why this series of photos -- shot by LIFE magazine in 1969 as part of a feature on outstanding college students -- is so fascinating. It captures
