As world ages, immigration
seen as big boost to US

WASHINGTON— Americans are among the least likely to be concerned about retirement security, or to view the growing number of older people as a major concern, a new global study finds. The analysis of surveys across 21 nations by the Pew Research Center is timely because it details some of the benefits of immigration as lawmakers in the U.S. debate an overhaul of immigration laws: higher population growth and a slower rate of population aging. The surveys found that people in nations where the population is aging less swiftly, such as the U.S., are less likely to be worried about

Shut off welfare and food stamps and sit back and watch how many people suddenly go out and find a job. Hence, don´t need to import people to make a workforce.

Bringing in millions of poor generally uneducated low wage earning leaf blower technicians who the chances are will eventually become liberal Democrat voters in the years ahead are not going to be a big boost to America, but are much more likely to become an anchor around the neck of America who will have to be highly subsidized through expanded social welfare benefits and services that will have to be paid for by Americans who actually do pay taxes.

Longer lives is the wild card. Something has to give. And it will.

If we maintain the retirement age will for some reason remain about 65 or even lower then clearly more young people must somehow be found to support more aged people.

But why shouldn´t long-lived, healthy people work for more years?

What Law of the Cosmos says twenty or thirty years of working means you can then be supported by others for another forty or fifty or sixty years?

Substitute ´robots´ for ´young people´ and that might be a solution. But ´genocide´ is a solution too.

Judging by the neighborhoods where the illegals have settled, it sure appears we´ve inherited the poorest, dumbest, and least productive members of the societies from which they left. I can´t see that legitimizing them will turn out well for the U.S. Then again, when did Congress do much that ever turned out well for us?

President Obama on Friday signed into law a bill authored by Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz that would bar an Iranian diplomat from entering the United States, but immediately issued a statement saying he won´t enforce it. Obama decided to treat the law as mere advice. "Acts of espionage and terrorism against the United States and our allies are unquestionably problems of the utmost gravity, and I share the Congress´s concern that individuals who have engaged in such activity may use the cover of diplomacy to gain access to our Nation," Obama said in his signing statement.

The Obama administration once again has punted on a final decision for the Keystone XL pipeline, announcing ahead of the holiday weekend it is extending a key review period indefinitely — a move that could push off a determination until after the midterm elections. Republicans, as well as red-state Democrats who want the proposed Canada-to-Texas pipeline approved, slammed the administration for the delay. Democrats even threatened to find ways to

The Obama administration is extending the agency review period for the Keystone XL oil sands pipeline, potentially delaying the decision until after the November elections -- sparing President Obama a tough political decision in the process. A senior State Department official said agencies have stopped crafting comments because a Nebraska Supreme Court decision could change the pipeline route and, ultimately, the environmental, socioeconomic and cultural factors that went into the environmental review. The official did not directly answer a question whether an altered pipeline route would require a new environmental review.

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said.
