Comments:
With the world´s enemies of freedom starting strategic brushfires everywhere possible, hoping the Obama Administration will continue its five year bug out from responsibility, America grows ever more vulnerable. So do our potential allies in places like Ukraine and the almost gone Afghanistan. In time the world´s enemies of freedom will realize that the USA is, in fact, a paper tiger as long as Obama and his hoped for successors retain power, and that we can be blackmailed with impunity, if not blown off the face of the earth. At what point does misgovernance become enemy action?

Medical marijuana ballot called
´plan´ to help Crist beat Scott
Tampa Tribune, by William March    Original Article

TAMPA — Some Florida Republicans fear, and some Democrats hope, that a November referendum on legalizing medical marijuana in Florida will drive young and liberal voters to the polls, helping Democratic candidates including gubernatorial challenger Charlie Crist. The initiative, still not certified for the November ballot, is generating charges of political motives from both sides. Some Republicans call it an expensive ploy by Crist´s backers to help him win. “It is no coincidence that Charlie Crist´s law partner and biggest supporter, John Morgan, is financing medical marijuana,” said Gainesville-based GOP consultant Alex Patton. “It´s a plan.” Some Democrats, meanwhile, say

“Yes, Marcus. They died in vain.” Thus begins Jim Ghourley’s column in Foreign Policy. (Snip) By now we expect Obama to lie; lie for the sake of lying; misrepresent for the heck of it, even when the truth can safely be admitted in candor; to spit in the soup for no reason that even he can think of. And nobody’s mad at Obama. For they know the truth. It isn’t Obama that is frightening since he’s just being himself. It is the circumstance that 50% of the electorate wanted him — and may want him still — that is absolutely

Justin Bieber was charged with drunken driving, resisting arrest and driving without a valid license after police saw the pop star street racing Thursday morning, Miami Beach police said. "What the f*** did I do? Why did you stop me?" Bieber told the police officer who pulled him over just after 4 a.m., according to the arrest report. Bieber, 19, was booked into a Miami jail after failing a sobriety test, Miami Beach Police Chief Raymond Martinez told reporters Thursday. Bieber "made some statements that he had consumed some alcohol, and that he had been smoking marijuana and consumed some prescription medication," Martinez

Readers will note that President Obama’s announced NSA “reforms” to exempt foreign leaders, delegate the storage of phone records to a non-NSA entity and add more lawyers to the process of accessing communications records substantially follow the recommendations of Cass Sunstein as laid out in the document Liberty and Security in a Changing World. These recommendations were analyzed in the post The Black Chamber. Do they help? I wrote that they did not. They do nothing to reduce the main source of danger, which is the close relationship between domestic intelligence gathering and law enforcement. Sunstein’s recommendations don’t really fix

Janet Hook and Thomas Crittenden of the Wall Street Journal try to explain the rash of retirements on Capitol Hill. (Snip) The biggest danger facing the Democrats, however, is an unexpected foreign policy crisis which may materialize at any time. A respected British defense advisor publicly called Obama “chronically incapable” of military strategy. Nor is he likely alone in this assessment. Last year the British Parliament voted against David Cameron’s proposal to support Obama’s proposed bombing in Syria, effectively delivering a vote of no-confidence in Obama. The world is expecting trouble. Japan has stepped up its defense spending, as has

A tiger prowling for food has killed seven people in northern India in the past two weeks, forcing thousands of terrified villagers to stay inside while hunters try to kill the animal, authorities said Wednesday. The tiger´s latest victim was a woman whose body was found in a forest Tuesday in Uttar Pradesh state, said Rupak De, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests. The tiger, a female, has been on the prowl across an area spanning some 80 miles (130 kilometers). "A hunt has been launched to kill the tigress that has turned into a man-eater," De said. "It must

For the last five years, I have waited for the other shoe to drop. In 2008, the American people elected an incompetent and foolish president, Obama. President Obama knew that he could only trust a handcuffed politician and loyalist like Hillary Clinton as secretary of state. He then later appointed the pompous John Kerry to fill this capacity. Yet this “gang that couldn’t shoot straight” was a ticking time bomb. Three strikes and you’re out. Let me list them: Obama: incompetent and disinterested [sic] in policy (president). Clinton: interested in policy but a potential rival politician, so she could not

Since it’s the government’s doctor not yours any more, Maryland has announced a bold deal with state and federal officials not to treat people unnecessarily. (Snip) Once “free money” — the deficit spending Dorfman spoke is introduced like a drug into the voters veins it will prove nearly impossible to withdraw. The administration delivered a resounding judgment on its claim that Obamacare’s website problems were over by firing the prime contractor, CGI Federal. The Washington Post, reporting the contract cancellation, explains that ”as federal officials and contractors have been trying to fix various aspects of the Web site in the past few months, about half of the new software code the company has written has failed on the first try, according to internal federal information.” They might have guessed the failure rate from the start. In an earlier article, the Washington Post noted that CGI Federal was “filled with executives from

Of all the troubling aspects of the Obama presidency, none is more dangerous than the president´s persistent pattern of lawlessness, his willingness to disregard the written law and instead enforce his own policies via executive fiat. On Monday, Mr. Obama acted unilaterally to raise the minimum wage paid by federal contracts, the first of many executive actions the White House promised would be a theme of his State of the Union address Tuesday night. The president´s taste for unilateral action to circumvent Congress should concern every citizen, regardless of party or ideology. President Barack Obama delivered a State of the Union Address on Tuesday that was important less for what he said than for what it says about him. The speech was long, more than an hour. At times it was defiant, at others it felt almost conciliatory. But mostly the speech was forgettable, disposable – a long list of modest policy proposals that will not be remembered for much longer than their echo in the House chamber. On domestic policy, we knew what to expect. The stars of last year’s speech – immigration and gun control – were mere afterthoughts this year,

It´s a good thing I remembered where I stored all my old ski gear, including the thermal underwear that I hadn´t worn in years. I´ve needed it during a season in which even the Deep South has seen an epidemic of frozen pipes, single-digit temperatures and school cancellations without snow. School kids were allowed to stay home for a day or two because, according to administrators, the weather was too doggone cold. The deep freeze might have forced most of us into a shoulder-hunching slouch, but it prompted an Easter Parade-like promenade by a crew of familiar climate change skeptics

It started out like dozens of other interviews after Tuesday night’s State of the Union address. But when NY1 reporter Mike Scotto decided to press Rep. The Queen’s household finances were at a “historic low” with just £1 million left in reserve, MPs said on Monday. Her courtiers were advised to take money-saving tips from the Treasury. A report by the Commons public accounts committee found that the Queen’s advisers were failing to control her finances while the royal palaces were “crumbling”. MPs said her advisers had overspent to such an extent that her reserve fund had fallen from £35 million in 2001 to just £1 million today. The Royal household had made efficiency savings of just 5 per cent over the past five years compared

Following President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address on Tuesday, former George W. Bush speechwriter Mark Thiessen told Fox News Channel’s “The Kelly File” host Megyn Kelly that Obama’s speech plagiarized lines from Bush’s 2007 speech, for which he said he was the lead speechwriter. “It was eerily familiar,” Thiessen said. “There were lines like, ‘Our job is to help Americans build a future of hope and opportunity. A future of hope and opportunity begins with a growing economy. A future of hope and opportunity requires our citizens have affordable and available health care.’
