IRS customer service leaves
millions of calls unanswered

Have a question on your tax returns? Don´t ask the IRS. As tax day looms, an annual watchdog report to Congress finds that the agency is falling short when it comes to answering Americans´ questions about the convoluted tax code. The National Taxpayer Advocate found only 61 percent of people seeking to speak with a customer service representative last year got through to anybody -- leaving nearly 20 million calls unanswered. The report largely blamed budget cuts, and lamented the impact the poor customer service is having on taxpayers. "At the risk of vast understatement, it is a sad state

Budget Cuts! They´ve added over 16,000 IRS agents since Obama came into office.

I guess they´re too busy training to use their firearms against WTP to answer the phone.

What a crock...

They are not concerned if you need something as long as they get your money, how and when they want it. As for "customer service?" The IRS has never heard of such a thing. It´s like expecting "customer service" from the gestapo!

Years ago as a single woman, the IRS had advised the public to call the IRS if we had questions concerning our returns. I was anxious to do this to keep myself out of trouble by submitting a correct return.

But I remember distinctly their telling me that if ´they give me incorrect advice´, it will be ´my mistake´ and I will pay the consequences and be responsible - not the IRS rep who might give me the ´wrong advice´. If they can´t even vouch for their very own "experts", what good would it do? Never called them again.

Obviously, most of them don´t know what the hell they´re doing anyway…but they sure know how to cash those checks.

I am sick and tired of government agencies referring to "customer service" as if the people they serve have an option.

The IRS is not in the business of customer service. It is a law enforcement agency with the power to destroy a citizen´s life. They confiscate property, impose fines, and can imprison citizens for years, leaving them in ruin.

I want the people to quit seeing themselves as customers. You do not have an option to comply. You have no choice of government tax services. You, a free American, are to be served by government employees and the various bureaucrats with the power of law.

ENOUGH WITH THIS NOTION OF CUSTOMER SERVICE!

We are free people who consent to be governed. And its looking more and more like it is time to withdraw our consent from this government and give consent to another.

I once needed tax advice for my then recently widowed mother. I called the IRS three times, and got three different answers. They also were rather annoyed at my question, so they weren´t a shining example of customer service, either.

I bought a JK Lasser tax prep book, looked up the question, and other information pertaining to her situation which hadn´t been mentioned in the tax forms the IRS sent, and saved Mom a bundle of money.

I´ve never relied on their advice since then.

You are right - they are not a customer service agency. Folks I know do very complicated estate tax returns every year. Every year they have to go to the local IRS offices to get special forms etc. Often those forms are not available until well February or later. The tax laws are thousands of page s long - no one in his right mind can read them all. Even CPA et al have computer programs to deal with the messes.

Democrats have a problem and everyone knows it. President Obama calls it a “congenital disease.” If they can’t control it, Obama could spend the final years of his presidency battling not only a Republican House but also a Republican Senate. Democrats don’t vote in midterm elections. That’s an exaggeration, of course, but the core of the Democratic coalition is made up of many people who turn out to vote only in presidential elections. The Republican coalition — older and whiter — suffers less from midterm falloff. So much has been made of the building blocks the president assembled to win his

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls.
