RUSH: From the Associated Press: "The new Homeland Security secretary says an earned path to citizenship for the roughly 11 million immigrants living in the United States illegally is a matter of national security." We have simply got to give them their citizenship. To deny them their citizenship is a matter of national security. I have a question, and I´m sure this question´s borne of total ignorance. How does being in the country illegally and taking jobs away from Americans and getting benefits like education, welfare, food stamps, and all that, without paying any taxes, how does that earn you anything?

57 Hill Democrats Already Backing Hillary

With more than two years before the 2016 election, one-fifth of all congressional Democrats have already endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, even though the secretary of the state has not yet announced she is running. The Hill finds that 18 Democratic senators and 39 representatives have voiced support for Clinton, making up one-third and one-fifth of the respective chambers’ members, and bringing Clinton-backers to a total of 56. Among her early supporters are a handful of members in leadership positions in their respective caucuses, including second-ranking House Democrat Steny Hoyer of Maryland and third-ranking Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer of New York. With control of the U.S. Senate up for grabs this November, a single seat may determine who has the majority. That’s why Republicans should find it disconcerting that two of their establishment lions have broken ranks and are backing Democratic candidates in competitive races. The latest apostate is former senator John Warner, who announced this week he is backing incumbent Democratic senator Mark Warner for reelection. He is thus giving the back of his hand to former RNC chairman Ed Gillespie, a former George W. Bush adviser, who has a decent shot at winning and is no wild-eyed radical. Last year,

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid embraced President Barack Obama´s standing in an exclusive interview with CNN on Tuesday, stating that he encourages vulnerable Senate Democrats running for re-election in 2014 to invite the President to campaign with them even in states where he is unpopular. Reid´s exclusive comments to CNN Chief Congressional Correspondent Dana Bash come just hours ahead of the President´s State of the Union address on Tuesday night and months ahead the 2014 midterm elections, where Democrats will fight to keep the majority in the Senate. "Barack Obama is personally a very popular guy. And people love this man. They

These days "IRS Targets Conservative Group" is a dog-bites-man story. But this one was man-bites-dog by virtue of its placement: on the front page of the New York Times, a newspaper that is usually supportive of this administration´s efforts to suppress domestic dissent. Put it down to a sudden outbreak of news judgment. The news value to the Times may lie more in the nature of the organization than its trouble with the IRS. "In a famously left-leaning Hollywood, where Democratic fund-raisers fill the social calendar, Friends of Abe stands out as a conservative group that bucks the prevailing political winds,"

RUSH: The media wants you to see this as, "Can Obama revive his sagging poll numbers? Can Obama successfully make an end run around the Congress? Can Obama use the power of the office and executive powers and executive orders to move his agenda forward? Can Obama thumb the Republicans in the eye? RUSH: It´s the State of the Coup address tonight. "As Congress struggles to reach an agreement on a way to overhaul the nation´s..." You know, this is dead. Except for the Republicans, this is dead. Everybody acknowledges it´s dead for 2014. President Obama is expected to outline a seismic shift during Tuesday´s annual State of the Union address in how much tax American businesses pay, but the devil is in the details. While his plan will lower the top corporate rate, smaller companies whose proceeds are considered individual income – since they´re not organized as large corporations – won´t see any benefit. And the net impact, says one Washington, D.C. watchdog group, will be more money, not less, flowing into the federal government´s coffers. Those funds, the group says, will be redistributed into public works projects calculated to benefit labor unions that support

The year was 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren´t only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way. Nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else. All this equality was due to the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution, and to the unceasing vigilance of agents of the United States Handicapper General. —From " Harrison Bergeron " (1961), a short story by Kurt Vonnegut The year was 2019 and Americans were finally on their way toward real equality. The key question facing policymakers in 2014 will be how to energize the economy and lower the rate of unemployment while avoiding another financial crisis caused by asset price inflation and a misallocation of credit. The Fed seems concerned with deflation, but the real risk is that the Fed´s bloated balance sheet, and the extraordinary run-up in the monetary base during the last five years, will begin to show up in inflationary increases in the monetary aggregates. In an election year, policymakers will be timid in raising interest rates, so the asset bubbles that are becoming more and more obvious could grow

The big story that´s simultaneously being spotlighted from the Vatican to the White House, from Oxfam to newly elected Mayor Bill de Blasio in New York City, is economic inequality and the purportedly overly skewed and unjust distribution of wealth. "The human rights group Oxfam reported that the wealth of the world´s 85 richest people is equal to that of the poorer half of the world´s population," reported Voice of America on Jan. 20. In other words, the wealth of a little group of people who can easily fit into two Mercedes party buses is equal to the combined wealth of the

President Obama has been losing his TV audience — literally. With the State of the Union proving ever less entrancing for viewers, the White House is desperate to turn the speech into a multiday event in an effort to bolster interest in Mr. Obama’s policies, even if people don’t tune in to hear his words. With online question-and-answer sessions, a “virtual road trip” scheduled for Friday and a presidential video, the White House is determined to spread Mr. Obama’s message beyond Tuesday night’s hourlong address. “Literally, the conversation never ends,” said Lee Rainie, director of the Pew Research Center’s Internet

WASHINGTON — President Obama plans to sign an executive order requiring that janitors, construction workers and others working for federal contractors be paid at least $10.10 an hour, using his own power to enact a more limited version of a policy that he has yet to push through Congress. The order, which Mr. Obama will highlight in his annual State of the Union address on Tuesday night, is meant to underscore an increasing willingness by the president to bypass Congress if lawmakers continue to resist his agenda, aides said. After a year in which most of his legislative priorities went nowhere,

“Repealing and replacing” Obamacare with market-oriented reforms has been the Republican mantra for years now. If you’re a long-time follower of this space, you know that we’re skeptical that Obamacare will ever be repealed, GOP slogans to the contrary. Today, however, a trio of experienced Senate Republicans—Tom Coburn (Okla.), Richard Burr (N.C.), and Orrin Hatch (Utah)—have put forth the most thoughtful and constructive plan yet developed to repeal and replace Obamacare. The plan seeks to ensure that as many Americans have health coverage as Obamacare does. It’s a proposal grounded in the real-world tradeoffs that all serious reformers must make.

Former Vice President Al Gore raised eyebrows last week when he suggested that “fertility management” was the key to fighting global warming and promoting economic development in poor countries. Gore’s comments drew criticism from free-marketeers who said his remarks amount to “eco-imperialism.” “Gore’s agenda for saving the world from global warming has always included population control,” Myron Ebell, director of global warming and international environmental policy at the free-market Competitive Enterprise Institute, told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “Advocating population control specifically for Africa is just another form of imperialism. Gore’s eco-imperialism is uncomfortably close to the original racist goals of

Sen. "President Obama lost the white male vote 35 to 62 percent yet he recaptured the presidency – by 5 million votes and a resounding electoral college margin." Deep within the Earth, a fierce molten core is generating a magnetic field capable of defending our planet against devastating solar winds. The protective field extends thousands of miles into space and its magnetism affects everything from global communication to animal migration and weather patterns. But this magnetic field, so important to life on Earth, has weakened by 15 per cent over the last 200 years. And this, scientists claim, could be a sign that the Earth’s poles are about to flip. Experts believe we´re currently overdue a flip, but they´re unsure when this could occur. If a switch happens, we would be exposed
