RUSH: Did you watch the Grammys last night? Snerdley, you missed it. Folks, I gotta tell you something. I´m beginning to think -- this a quick Grammy takeaway. I ended up having to watch the Grammy opening a little bit. You know, this weekend I had tech problems in everything except my iPhone and iPad. Well, no, I had one in my iPad. Printers here are all screwed up, printers at home are all screwed up. Every remote control for my audio-video system at home is blown, not working. It´s just a total mess. It´s a total breakdown, total melt.

RUSH: So I get the audio sound bite roster today from Cookie. I actually get an e-mail before I get the roster. She said, "You´re back. They were talking about you all weekend long." And in these sound bites, folks, this is about the president calling me out along with Fox News last week in the New Yorker magazine. They went to a bunch of these media types in the audio sound bites, and they all say he´s justified. They all say the president is seriously agitated with me. This is not just talk; he is really, really agitated. The

If Tom Perkins of San Francisco was trying to be provocative, he succeeded. In a letter to the editor that appeared in Saturday´s Wall Street Journal, Perkins, a founding partner of the Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers venture-capital firm, drew a parallel between Nazi Germany´s "war on its ´one percent,´ namely its Jews," and "the progressive war on the American one percent, namely the ´rich.´ " He described some of the local manifestations of "a rising tide of hatred of the successful" and concluded: "This is a very dangerous drift in our American thinking. RUSH: To the audio sound bites. As you recall, it was revealed in the New Yorker magazine that the president blames me and Fox News (and apparently now blames me more than Fox News) for his inability to convince a majority of Americans to agree with him policy-wise. Friday night in New York City, on NY1´s Inside City Hall, the host, Errol Louis, interviewed Chuck-U Schumer. And Errol Louis said, "Do you expect Tea Party and other conservative politicians to try and fight with you for those issues of income inequality?"

Three Years Before the Vote,

With the news that America´s largest liberal fundraising group is to back a Hillary Clinton presidential bid in 2016, a growing sense of inevitability is building around her prospective candidacy. The former secretary of state who once occupied the White House as first lady and narrowly lost the Democratic nomination in 2008, has been coy about whether she plans to run again. But she has said that she will decide this year and, with a full 24 months before even the first party primaries, the "draft Clinton" movement is not waiting for its heroine to formally announce. She swamps other potential Democratic contenders

Obama Blames Conservative Media,

Earlier this week in the New Yorker, President Obama suggested his approval ratings are down because America is full of racists (the same racists who elected him, twice). Now, bonus excerpts from the same article by David Remnick show President Obama blaming his failures on Fox News while accusing the network, conservative media and Rush Limbaugh of turning him into a "caricature." The president also complained that conservative media had created a "caricature" of him divorced from "reality" that made rallying voters from those areas particularly difficult. "The issue has been the inability of my message to penetrate the Republican base so

Mitt Romney came on the Today Show this morning to weigh in on the security threats facing the Winter Olympics but added his two cents about the prospect of a Republican beating the likely Democratic presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton, should she decide to run. Asked by Savannah Guthrie on Today whether or not Mrs Clinton is beatable, Romney said: ‘I´m sure she is, because people recognize the country is just not doing what it needs to be doing’. He vehemently denied that he would ever run again after his failed 2012 bit, and then gave off a quick list of possible GOP

When New York Governor Andrew Cuomo told a local radio host that "extreme" conservative champions of life have no place in his state, he alienated a lot of residents, including Fox´s Sean Hannity. This past Tuesday, Hannity told Greta Van Susteren, "[A]s soon as I am able ... I´m getting out of here as quick as I can." Cuomo´s planned rhetoric managed to rev up pro-life New Yorkers at the same time they were getting ready to attend their annual March for Life rally in Washington, D.C. Why would a progressive politician from a state known as "the abortion capital of America"

Dear Reader (and those of you who took the red pill), Last June, when the mainstream media collectively swooned over Wendy Davis and her shoes, I was overcome with Fremdschämen. The only problem is that I didn’t know what Fremdschämen was back then. But now I do! It’s a floor wax and a dessert topping! No, that’s not right. It’s my new favorite German word. What is amazing, to me at least, is that I am only just now learning of this word, despite having a soft spot (right below my elbow) for fun foreign words (“I myself am overcome with Backpfeifengesicht

War On Banks: The Obama administration thinks driving payday lenders out of business will help the urban poor. In fact, a Fed study suggests it will only drive them into the jaws of loan sharks. The administration has launched a secret and possibly illegal multi-agency enforcement operation to destroy a legitimate $9 billion industry providing short-term loans to consumers with jobs and weak credit. Under "Operation Choke Point," the Justice Department, FDIC and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau aim to crack down on payday lenders — and the big banks that extend them lines of credit — with a flurry of investigations

Kevin’s piece today on the homepage talks about the triumph of the war on polio and how it reflects the benefits of a world that’s largely been converted to Western, liberal values. In fact, the rest of the world has been incredibly successful over the past 20 or 30 years, and, despite the hysteria raised over this week over a widely misinterpreted report from Oxfam that dramatized wealth inequality in the world, the globe has in some ways gotten more equal (flatter, you could say, if you were a Times columnist). Not dramatically so, in part because the world’s really

Marijuana makes you stupid. Nobody wants to acknowledge the obvious fact, but that’s what this whole legalization debate is all about. That’s why most of the candidates for governor, of both parties, have come out against legalization, even if they have to obfuscate why they’re opposed to the Colorado-ization of Massachusetts. After all, the pols can’t offend that pivotal ganja-American voting bloc, assuming they can remember to vote in November. The Republican Party has a great opportunity to re-gain control of the country, but it must seize the day, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said Saturday night. The GOP is poised to win back a majority in the Senate and keep its advantage in the House in Congressional elections this fall, Graham said. [Snip] Graham, who is up for re-election, is facing GOP primary challengers state Sen. Lee Bright of Spartanburg, Orangeburg attorney Bill Connor, Upstate businessman Richard Cash and Citadel graduate and Lowcountry public relations businesswoman Nancy Mace. They accuse Graham of not being a true conservative.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas started a trend by making most of its high school students tackle algebra II. But eight years later, the state often watched for education policy is abandoning the requirement. The move is being praised by school districts for affording them more flexibility. But some policy experts are nervous because nearly 20 states have since followed Texas´ lead in requiring the advanced math course. Supporters say fewer curriculum mandates give students more time to focus on vocational training for high-paying jobs that don´t necessarily require a college degree.

Stephen Hawking has produced a "mind-bending" new theory that argues black holes do not actually exist - at least not in the way we currently perceive them. Instead, in his paper, Information Preservation and Weather Forecasting for Black Holes, Hawking proposes that black holes can exist without 'event horizons', the invisible cover believed to surround every black hole.During a previous lecture, 'Into the Black Hole', Hawkins described an event horizon as the boundary of a black hole, "where gravity is just strong enough to drag light back, and prevent it escaping".
“Falling through the event horizon, is a bit like going over Niagara Falls in a canoe", he said. "If you are above the falls, you can get away if you paddle fast enough, but once you are over the edge, you are lost. There's no way back.

Amazon Prime is like crack, people warn me in hushed, cautionary tones. Once you try it, you’re hooked. I personally have not signed up for Amazon’s premiere, super-duper, fancy-dancy, wave-o’-the-future membership program, even though I’m a frequent customer. But I’m fascinated by the transformation people talk about once they do. “Oh, you’ll see,” they tell me, “you’ll see.” On its face, Prime offers two simple things: Free two-day shipping on most purchases, and access to streaming movies and TV shows. All for $80 a year. Whether or not people need two-day shipping, a few things seem to happen once they

The honeymoon is over for Wendy Davis. The Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate this week sustained the most negative coverage she’s faced since shooting to political stardom last summer. And her campaign, still smarting from the scrutiny, is determined to change the subject by turning up the heat on her opponent, GOP Attorney General Greg Abbott, over education. In the high-profile, astronomically expensive Texas gubernatorial race, Davis was riding high just over a week ago. While she has always faced an uphill battle, she had just raked in stellar fundraising numbers and scored yet another national television interview that showcased her compelling journey

The number of people enrolled in private health insurance under Obamacare has soared by more than one-third in recent weeks to around 3 million, according to government data released on Friday. Marilyn Tavenner, administrator of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), announced the preliminary tally in a blog posting. She forecast that enrollment through new federal and state health insurance marketplaces would continue to grow in coming weeks as a public outreach campaign accelerates. The new data adds to evidence that President Barack Obama´s administration has turned the corner on enrollment after a botched October 1 launch.

Last week the Wall Street Journal published Gregory Hicks’s column “Benghazi and the smearing of Chris Stevens.” It would be easy to overlook Hicks’s column in the crush of last week’s news, but it is deserving of special attention. In the column Hicks offers his eyewitness testimony to the security issues that Stevens dealt with at our Libyan facilities before his death. The redacted report of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Committee that was released on January 15 has left some to draw the conclusion that Stevens rejected additional security and to imply that he is responsible for the success

Stockman, who submitted a last-minute longshot primary challenge to Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), has missed fifteen roll call votes since January 9, and has held nary a campaign event, despite drastically trailing Cornyn in the polls for an election in early March. Reporters trying to track Stockman down have been met with unresponsive campaign and congressional offices, though he appeared to have been located last week in Cairo, Egypt.
