Barney Frank: ´The NRA Is
the Model´ for Gay Marriage

Atlantic Magazine, by Adam B. Kushner

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 1/27/2014 12:50:19 PM

Former Representative Barney Frank´s career roughly mirrors the arc of the modern gay-rights movement. He reminisced with National Journal. Edited excerpts follow. Linda Hirshman´s new history of the movement is called Victory: The Triumphant Gay Revolution. Do you agree with the premise? No question. We´ve made a great deal of progress in abolishing prejudice. In some parts of the country there still is a problem with marriage and job discrimination, but in much of the country there´s virtually no legal disability and not too much social and political disability. Forty years ago, there wasn´t a single state where we were

Comments:
A peek into the mind of a man who´s thought processes and ability to reason are as perverted as his sexual behaviors.
He is a bitter and confused man.

Huh?!

The NRA supports one of the Bill Of Rights.
While the framers of the constitution never even conceived of the concept of gay marriage.

Because if they had they would have explicitly banned it.

Iran has signed a deal to sell Iraq arms and ammunition worth £117 million in a move that would break a UN embargo on weapons sales by Tehran. The agreement was reached at the end of November, documents showed, just weeks after Iraq’s prime minister Nouri al-Maliki returned from Washington, where he lobbied the Obama administration for extra weapons to fight al-Qaeda-linked militants. WASHINGTON — A new study reveals that nearly 33,000 jobs have been impacted due to the Affordable Care Act’s medical device excise tax. The report comes from the Advanced Medical Technology Association following an online survey of member companies last year. “According to the report, the tax has led to employment reductions of approximately 14,000 industry workers and foregone hiring of 19,000 workers,” the study stated. “The total job impact of the tax on industry employment was approximately 33,000.” Stephen J. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A former and possibly future first daughter came to Kansas City on Monday to launch an effort to honor women. Chelsea Clinton spoke to an enthusiastic crowd at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, sharing her passion for efforts that help boost women and girls. "How far have women come, and how far do we have to go?" she said. She told the audience that those questions are less philosophical than practical. She said she buries herself in the world of the Clinton Foundation to make sure she's doing her part. Another reason she was in Kansas City is to help establish the Starr Women's Hall of Fame,

Since 1998, the average rate of Earth’s rising global surface temperature has relaxed, much to the chagrin of climate scientists whose climate-model predictions told a different story. Now, researchers say they’ve found the cause of Earth’s global warming “hiatus.” According to a new study, published in the journal Nature Geoscience, volcanoes are the reason the average rate of warming dropped from .31 degrees Fahrenheit per decade between 1970 and 1998 to .072 degrees Fahrenheit per decade between 1998 and 2012. This “muted surface warming” was the result of a series of 17 small volcanic eruptions, beginning in 2000, that spewed

We´ve paid plenty of attention here at KCET to the problems caused for desert tortoises when their habitat is replaced with renewable energy facilities. Data from Rutgers University shows that the Northern Hemisphere has been seeing more snowfall in recent decades — at a rate of over 100,000 square kilometers per year. We can probably get a good sense of it by considering the account of President Bush’s conversations with Putin set forth by Peter Baker in his excellent book about the Bush presidency, Days of Fire. It’s well known that Bush and Putin got on well at first. But when the relationship soured, Bush became exasperated by his talks with the Russian bully. Putin seemed to delight in debating Bush. FOR FIVE YEARS, President Obama has led a foreign policy based more on how he thinks the world should operate than on reality. It was a world in which “the tide of war is receding” and the United States could, without much risk, radically reduce the size of its armed forces. Other leaders, in this vision, would behave rationally and in the interest of their people and the world. Invasions, brute force, great-power games and shifting alliances — these were things of the past. Secretary of State John F. Kerry displayed this mindset on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday when he

President Obama´s proclaimed strategy to "bypass Congress" — most conspicuously his broad rewriting of the Affordable Care Act — has given unusual prominence to a fairly arcane legal doctrine: standing. Standing is what is preventing a potential blizzard of litigation against the president´s unilateral decrees, and ironically, it´s a doctrine liberal jurists have long decried. To challenge the government in federal court, it isn´t enough to simply believe that the government´s conduct is illegal or even unconstitutional. Federal courts can hear only specific disputes about the law as applied to particular people. To be heard in court, a person must have
