Palin appearing more and more the

Former Alaska Governor and Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin caused quite the stir in 2009 when, in challenging the drafting of the Affordable Care Act, she stated that the bill would create a “death panel” of bureaucrats who would decide whether Americans—such as her elderly parents or children with certain disabilities were “worthy of medical care”. But critics like Palin had already viewed Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) and its cost-effectiveness analysis to determine whether new treatments and drugs should be available to those covered by under the NHS.The Daily Telegraph took note and the Sunday Times wrote that Sarah Palin’s use

Agree, OP.

I think Palin is one of the very, very few who have actually researched the issue. She may be the only one who has read the healthcare bill. I bet the people who pushed it like Pelosi, and the ignorant, smug critics who mock Palin, still haven´t.

Again, Vindication! Not only reading the bill but also read the good Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel´s (Rahm´s brother) book where he laid out the format which was used in the bill. Now, with those two beginning to age, will they still be in favor of the death panels?

This is not about "healthcare" but all about the costs, especailly to government, of longevity. The longer you live, the more you cost in an era of a declining ability to afford those costs. Gov. Richard Lamm summed it up in 1979...old folks "have a duty to die."

I liked Palin the moment I saw her, July, 2008.

But, ... obviously she was unelectable. "See Russia from my kitchen" ... No comback.

In 2016, need somebody who can & will hit back. Christie can do that, but already huge numbers of people buying the DEM talking points about him. Republicans just love circular firing squads.

No idea where this is going.

Dems should be gonners in ´16. We´ll see.

#7, Gov. Palin did NOT say she could see Russia from her kitchen!

The basis for the line was Governor Palin´s 11 September 2008 appearance on ABC News, her first major interview after being tapped as the vice-presidential nominee. During that appearance, interviewer Charles Gibson asked her what insight she had gained from living so close to Russia, and she responded: "They´re our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska":

Two days later, on the 2008 season premiere of Saturday Night Live, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler appeared in a sketch portraying Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton, during which Fey spoofed Governor Palin´s remark of a few days earlier with the following exchange:

FEY AS PALIN: "You know, Hillary and I don´t agree on everything . . ."

POEHLER AS CLINTON: (OVERLAPPING) "Anything. I believe that diplomacy should be the cornerstone of any foreign policy."

FEY AS PALIN: "And I can see Russia from my house."

0bamacare is an Oxymoron. It should be obvious to anyone with even half a brain that 0bama doesn´t care about anyone except himself. If 0bama cared at all, the least he would have done, would have been to make some provision for the care of people who need care, while his scheme called the affordable care act (also an oxymoron) is implemented. My guess is that more than a few people will die because of his lack of caring.

I don´t think I would qualify her as a Prophet. What she has been saying is easily obvious. But the liberals and the MSM don´t want to hear it or believe it. She is certainly courageous and a hero.

It´s simple.
A health care system cannot operate with an infinite amount of service because there is not an infinite amount of money. So there must be something to limit expenditures.

Two choices.
1. Spending is limited by what the customers can afford to pay in a free market system with just enough charitable healthcare to provide service to the poor.
2. Spending is limited by the government which can only ration. Rationing is brutal. Rationing leads to someone not getting some simple healthcare and they die. The rationing rules are made by people in the government. Those people can be thought of as a panel. Their rationing decisions decide who dies. Thus, they are death panels. Rationing and thus - death panels - are the only method the government has to control expenditures. It doesn´t take ESP to predict a government run system will use such measures.

Ummmm - I recall many posters here and elsewhere were pointing out rationed care and terming ´death panels´ well before - months before - Sarah Palin ever mentioned it. I think Sarah may be able to credit for being maybe the first public figure to mention this, but prophet she is not. I also believe several high-profile bloggers and even Rush Limbaugh beat her to the death panel term. But because the press, GOP establishment and liberals hate her so much though they only noticed when she said it so they could try and bludgeon her with it.

I would much rather see the changed to the truth "Tea Party once again appearing more and more the Prophet..."

“To me, it’s not a question of ‘if’ we fix our broken immigration laws,” Wisconsin Rep. A group of conservative House Republicans put a Medicare “doc fix” bill in mortal peril with their objections – but then acquiesced to a plan from GOP leadership to pass it without a vote. The vote was repeatedly delayed this morning as top Republicans scrambled to find the necessary votes for the legislation. Making the problem more difficult: the bill was brought to the floor under suspension of the rules, meaning it needed a 2/3 majority rather than the normal 1/2 majority. When House Republicans penned their Pledge to America in 2010, they convinced American voters they would advance a conservative agenda if they regained control of the House that year. Four years later, what promises have they actually delivered? ObamaCare is still intact, our national debt has grown by $3 trillion, and Republicans have capitulated to Democrats on every issue from the debt ceiling to the budget. Republican leaders in both the House and the Senate have failed conservatives and have failed to keep their Pledge to America. Let’s examine how the GOP pledge has fallen flat. Maine’s tea party governor, reared in poverty, is on a mission to reform the state’s welfare system. Gov. Paul LePage rolled out a four-proposal package on Monday that will get committee hearings in the legislature Tuesday afternoon. The reforms, which mostly tighten restrictions around the program, are part of an ongoing crusade against what LePage has described as a bloated program. “Big, expensive welfare programs riddled with fraud and abuse threaten our future,” he said in his state of the state speech last month. “Too many Mainers are dependent on government handouts.
