Crony Capitalism in America:
Public Sector Union Scandals Begin to Leak

Townhall, by Hunter Lewis

Many reporters reflexively support unions, and prefer not to acknowledge scandals related to them, especially at the local and state level. Nevertheless, troubling news accounts have emerged: - A New York City sewer engineer is paid $775,000 ($173,000 regular annual rate plus back payments from settlement of a labor dispute).292 ?? – A Chicago union leader takes a leave of absence in 1989 from the city’s sanitation department, where he earned $40,000, to work for a union. He is then allowed to “retire” from the city at age 56 with $108,000 pension. (The rules say that the individual should waive a union

Been going on for decades, getting worse every year. It´s been suspected, known and documented. We know about it, they know we know about it. They also know - nothing will or can be done about it, shy of a major revolution. Perhaps anticipating this - the other side has been clamping down on gun owners and gun laws, and hoarding ammunition. Nothing with them happens by circumstance or short range planning. They´ve had things int he works for a looooong time. Obama is giving hints at what´s to come in the next two years and we will be near powerless to stop him. Too many on our side will pout out elections and candidates for reasons of homosexual agendas or abortion stances. We´re losing a LOT more ground than these issues alone. And by the way - the other side will continue to win on those issues too.

They might as well talk about it because no one will do anything or hold anyone accountable. Rogue government, rogue unions, rogue justice department, and complicit media. I´d say the cards are stacked against freedom and honesty.

Thirty five years ago I knew a kid who´s father worked for NYC Water and Sewer. He said his father played cards all day.

I knew another kid who got a summer job wiht NYC Sanitation. He said that they would waste the day away, then fill the truck with water (from a fire hydrant), weigh the truck, then go home.

check how much OT a young (lower paid) worker raising a family gets. It´s all allocated to guys about to retire so they can bulk out their retirement by inflating their wages the last year or 2. In my company, retirement was based on your salary, without overtime

California currently pays pension benefits of over $100,000 a year to each of over 120,000 retired state workers. Over 120,000 and growing!

If these people think that I´m willing to remain in California and spend my retirement years struggling to pay for the lavish pension benefits handed out to people who were rude to me at the DMV, they´ve got rocks in their heads. Not. Gonna´. Happen. I left the state. No regrets.

Speaker John Boehner´s primary challenger is going there. In a provocative new video from GOP candidate J.D. Winteregg, an announcer asks if Boehner suffer from "electile dysfunction"? "Sometimes, when a politician has been in D.C. too long, it goes to his head," the announcer says as clips flash on-screen of John Boehner laughing with President Obama, John Boehner on the golf course with Obama, and John Boehner smiling while giving Obama a glowing "thumbs up" at the State of the Union address. Paul and Bush Duke It Out
on Immigration
American Spectator, by Natalie deMacedo    Original Article

Presidential hopefuls Rand Paul and Jeb Bush got in a slight scuffle over immigration yesterday. Bush called illegal immigration “an act of love” committed by people wanting to support their families, adding that most of them are here illegally because they can’t get in legally. This ignited some Republican rage and Rand Paul got his chance to respond: “You know, I think he might have been more artful, maybe, in the way he presented this,” said Paul, a Kentucky Republican, said on ABC’s This Week. “But I don’t want to say, ‘oh, he’s terrible for saying this.’ If it were

Republicans are famously divided on immigration reform, but Democrats pretty much unanimously support it. There´s a reason for that. In stark, partisan political terms, continuing the high level of immigration of recent decades, and certainly increasing immigration as envisioned by many reformers, will result in more Democrats winning more elections in coming years

There is a culture of sleaze in Washington that´s worse than ever. Too-big, all-powerful government not only cripples the freedoms of the regular people who have to live under it, it also creates a whole shadow infrastructure dedicated to working it to the advantage of the elite and the connected. Three recent stories illustrate the point: Matt Continetti´s piece about the divorce of lobbyists Tony and Heather Podesta shows how connected insiders can make out like bandits in Obama´s Washington. The Podestas have offered their vast and wealthy clients little in the way of objective value. Rather, they´ve gotten rich just

By now most people are familiar with the potentially deadly situation emerging at the Bundy ranch in Nevada. Right now, the back-story is not nearly as important as the immediate necessity to de-escalate this life-and liberty threatening situation, although it does play an important role and must be addressed. The fact that this situation could have been pulled from the script of the 1974 movie Chinatown or any of the Godfather movies is well known and must be exposed, but not before immediate action is taken to assure the preservation of life and liberty. The current critical nature of the crisis cannot

Two of Nevada’s top elected leaders are riding to the rescue of a rancher whose decades-long range war with the federal government has reached a boiling point in recent days. The federal Bureau of Land Management has surrounded the Clark County ranch of Cliven Bundy with armed officers, helicopters and four-wheel drive vehicles. Last week, they began seizing cattle found grazing on adjacent federal lands in violation of a law meant to protect an endangered desert tortoise. “No cow justifies the atmosphere of intimidation which currently exists nor the limitation of constitutional rights that are sacred to all Nevadans.”

Many Americans have been watching with great consternation the ongoing struggle between the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Marshals against Cliven Bundy and his family. There are no signs of either side relinquishing their position. Many onlookers have been informed that this dispute is over protecting the desert tortoise. But it is nothing of the sort. In fact, the reality of the dispute goes far underneath what is being talked about. The more appropriate source of the dispute is ground water as well as surface water -- this is a war over water. The continuing battle between the establishment and antiestablishment forces within the Grand Old Party is getting bitter. Scott Reed, a chief political strategist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, quips that the antiestablishment Club for Growth has morphed into the “Club for Dopes.” Club for Growth spokesman Barney Keller charges that the head of a Washington-based pro-incumbent political group, the Main Street Republican Partnership, “may have eaten a lot paint chips as a kid.” Maybe that is what happens in any family feud. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Ship commanders considered the actions provocative and inconsistent with international agreements, prompting the ship to issue several radio queries and warnings.
