Pro-immigration Republican
forces renew efforts for reform

The Hill [Washington, DC], by Russell Berman

Original Article

Republican and business advocates for immigration reform said Friday they were encouraged by signs that the House GOP plans to take up the issue after months of delay. But Gov. Rick Snyder (R-Mich.) and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg (I) warned the party not to get bogged down by details or scared off by criticism from a minority of conservative opponents. “If you are against the fastest-growing voting bloc in the country, you and your party don’t have a future,” said Bloomberg, who quit the GOP in 2007. Joined by former Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez and a top lobbyist

Just what we need, Republicans siding with Bloomberg. s/o He said the "influx of immigrants would “turbo-charge” the economy. Really?? He would better off meeting with Gov. Scott Walker and follow his policies that have been remarkably successful.

How sad is that illegal aliens are the fastest growing voting bloc in the country?

#1, it´s Hispanics not illegals.

Illegal immigration is only a misdemeanor, so from a legal point of view not a serious crime.

The solution is to increase the legal immigration quota to meet the demand and needs of this country.

The current proposal to "pathway to citizenship" is sound, and helps fix a lot of other problem in our immigration policy. It´s not amnesty either, since they all go back of the line, get processed and screened like any other person requesting immigration into the U.S.

What the GOP should be doing is demanding that we increase our immigration to 30-40 million new immigrants over the next 10-15 years.
Open it up to Russians, Chinese, India, Australia, Germany, etc...

Bring with them the ideas, the money, the drive to live the American Dream.

Talk about energizing the economy. We´d need new homes, schools, roads, etc..

and with all due respect, nonsense.
There´s an old principle, one that evidently some have chosen to ignore. Criminal behavior must NEVER be rewarded. Not now, not ever. Providing this idiotic notion of "Path to Citizenship" does precisely that: it provides a real benefit for those who, by there very actions and presence here, have shown they have no respect for our laws, institutions, culture, language, or expectations.
We should reward this?
If your intention is to destroy the nation, this is as good a way to do it as I can imagine, it is quieter than nuclear carpet bombing but accomplishes much the same result. Someone eager to send a nuclear attack on the USA would, rightly, be regarded as a traitor to be hanged expeditiously. The same fate should meet those pushing this garbage.
And, in like fashion, those in positions of public trust who are openly REFUSING to vigorously enforce existing laws are likewise guilty of grave crimes.
Deport ALL illegals, with the clothes on their backs and NOTHING else. Not even shoes. Send bills to the nations of origin for the costs associated with the vile behavior of their citizens. With interest. Close the borders to all traffic to/from said nations until payment is made in full. In gold.

"Path to Citizenship" can only be applied to those who haven´t broken the immigration law to begin with.
Otherwise no law means anything anymore, if you can be rewarded for breaking one law then equal justice demands that you be rewarded for breaking others.

I have tried to make that argument,#2. All Hispanics are not illegal and immigration reform does not mean amnesty, although the loudest voices insist there is no reform that does not include amnesty, therefore we cannot discuss reform. That is such an over simplification that it makes my hair stand on end. Yes, we already have immigration laws that are not being enforced and no, our border isn´t secure. But, we have to develop a reform plan to deal with the millions who are here illegally. I really wish Phil Gramm had stayed around long enough to get the guest worker program reinstated. If we can those who are here illegally into a computer base, we can determine who they are, where they are and why they are here. Then we can begin to deal with what to do with them. A green card with legal status (NOT amnesty)is appropriate for most of them. If they don´t fit into an acceptable category, we can and must deport them. Those who yell for rounding them up and shipping them home don´t understand the logistics of such a move. We don´t know who to round up, we don´t have the buses to handle the numbers and we have no place to put them prior to deporting them. There are legal US citizens in those families, minor children. What do we do with them after we´ve shipped mama and papa out of the country.

Ryan has a good plan, Rubio has a good plan. There are others. We surely can come up with a combination of the best parts of several plans. Then we can implement a good and workable immigration reform program. But, my friends, we have to take the Senate in November or none of our plans can go forward. The Democrat plans really do provide for amnesty and none on our side want that.

Since about 1965 it has been the liberal Democrats who have designed America´s immigration laws to fail and it has been the Republicans who have just about always gone along to get along. During that time the Democrats have used immigration, both illegal and legal, to generate many millions of new foreign born voters for the Democrat Party, in fact history shows that about 85% of illegal aliens who have been legalized by way of a number of amnesty programs have eventually become Democrat voters. During that time period the Republican objective as far as immigration goes was to generate as much cheap foreign labor for their business oriented constituency groups while buffing about putting effective immigration enforcement measures into place that in actuality never happened.

There is nothing new, the current Democrat plan calls for all legalized aliens and their foreign family members who would be allowed into the US in unlimited numbers be effectively chaperoned at government expense through a process by Democrat aligned activists through a path leading to most becoming New Democrat voters. The Republicans who support an amnesty are against any sort of mandatory enhanced e-verify system to keep future illegal aliens out of US jobs. Such an e-verify type system would be the most effective at deterring future illegal immigration, but those Republicans don´t want that, they just want the cheap foreign labor flow to continue. With such political immigration reform the more things change the more they will stay the same!

# 2 , # 5 make excellent observations.
Limbaugh and others always foolishly and purposefully
conflate " Hispanic " with illegals .
FTA- " ..the GOP document is expected to stop short of endorsing the kind of path to full citizenship desired by Democrats ."
But, that won´t stop Limbaugh and his buddies from describing the Republicans
as promoting amnesty.
FTA- "..the odds that a major bill can make it all the way to the president’s desk
in a midterm election year are long."

certainly the terms "Hispanic" and "illegal" are not interchangeable. Very very true. I know personally - and am now related to one - who give the proof of that.
But the reality is that we have relatively few persons who illegally enter the land from places like Wales, Japan, Norway, Finland, or the Orkney Islands. Be a long swim. Not too many Falkland Islanders either. I did once meet a Greek man who´d jumped ship and stayed, does that count?
But the reality that some appear to want to ignore is that illegal entry is most often accomplished via bordering nations. Not too terribly many sneaking over from Manitoba or Quebec either.
The plain facts are that the great majority of illegals are coming over the border from Mexico. Most are Mexican nationals. Why is it so hard to say what just about everyone knows? The government of Mexico is so complicit in this as to fit the criteria to be an Act of War. Like it or not, a presumption of illegality with respect to Mexicans on our streets is supported by evidence and even casual observation, and it does no harm to state it openly.
So, to repeat. Illegals MUST leave.
Those found here who were previously deported should be *summarily* executed.
The concept of "anchor babies" with respect to offspring of illegals is not supported Constitutionally -- deport them along with the illegal alien parents. They´re not citizens.
Imprison the officials of these "sanctuary cities".
Get them out of my country. They are criminals and intruders and we neither need nor want them. Out. Now.

I disagree with #2, #5/6.

Why do we need more unskilled labor when we already have 90+ million not working? Let´s worry about the Americans first, then we can talk about any additional skilled labor needs the country has.

I don´t want these people to "get in line" for what we know is guaranteed citizenship. I want them to go home with their anchor babies and wait until we tell them we need some guest workers.

No country on earth would tolerate what the United States is being asked to legalize. Try overstaying a visa in Canada, and they´ll deport you so fast you´ll starve to death bouncing. There is nothing principled or practical about allowing people to illegally enter or remain in our country. It´s stupid and unnecessary. We decide our immigration laws. We can enforce them if we choose to. Verify citizenship and legal immigration status at every opportunity, deny any access to government benefits, impose huge fines for violating immigration laws, and then take all their stuff. Use the money to rebuild our border controls. Word will get around, and the illegals will take what they have out rather than risk losing it here by staying

P.S. I sure hope I haven´t offended anyone by referring to folks who have entered or remained in our country illegally as "illegal aliens". I was going to call them "Undocumented Misdemeanor Foreign Interlopers" or "Border-Agnostic Line Crashers". But, given the perfidy of Ryan and Rubio on this issue, I´ll just call them what they are: "The Coming Democrat Majority."

The truth be known most Mexican illegal aliens who now make up a vast majority of the current illegal alien population group are not immigrants as that word has been defined throughout much of US history, but are migrants who are very happy to continue to hold Mexican citizenship while being allowed to legally work in the USA as they please, and be treated with dignity, fairness, and equality while they are in the USA. They also would like to be able to come and go from the USA to Mexico as they please. Most Mexicans would be very happy with a temporary legal immigration status in the USA.

It is only the liberal Democrats who are pushing "a path to citizenship" for those illegal aliens knowing that most of them are poor generally uneducated people who the liberal Democrats would quickly have under their spell with promises of additional rights and complete access to the USA social welfare safety network of social welfare benefits and programs in return for their future votes.

The rub on all that is that they simply have to use for US immigration law or the borderline.

Most illegals here now are low educated people from Mexico. Democrats throw gas on the fire and have convinced most of them that they are entitled to every benefit Americans have. Brazen La Raza fuels the flames.
I say the fire is too hot, we must deport, no matter if it takes 10-15 years. Once they see we are serious, many will self deport.
It must be done, the border must be sealed, then we can talk.
When we get organized, it should be ONE Mexican for ONE European. Equal rights to become citizens.

How do you ensure that you won’t be ostracized, denounced, or fired if you are a media celebrity, captain of industry, or high public official? For some, sexist banter is certainly no problem. Stand-up comedian Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a c–t and a tw-t, but suffered no ill consequences. David Letterman joked on air that Sarah Palin’s 14-year-old daughter had had sex with Alex Rodriguez during a New York Yankees game. There was no downside to that either. President Obama tosses around “sweetie” as he wishes. No problem with that. No one believes Barack could be condescending to women.

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day.
