RUSH: I mentioned at the top of the program there´s a lot of polling data out. There´s a Fox News poll out, and the headline here: "As Obama Starts His Sixth Year, 74% Say the US is Still in a Recession -- A third of voters say they like Obama and his policies, a dramatic drop from 47% who felt that way in October of 2012." This is a dramatic plunge. Thirty-three percent say they like Obama and his policies. That used to be near 50% just a year and a half ago. In addition, 62% now say that they dislike

SAN ANTONIO — The same House Republicans who punted on immigration last year are now privately crafting an intricate plan to try to pass it in 2014. Most people close to the planning expect votes on four bills by the end of the summer, including one that would give undocumented workers legal status. And though none of the bills is likely to offer a path to full citizenship, the fact Republicans are preparing to take on immigration at all is a sign the party is coming to grips with a political reality: if they want to win elections in the long-run, they’ll

RUSH: Does the name Scott Walker mean anything to you? You know him well. Scott Walker is the Republican, conservative governor of the state of Wisconsin. He has survived numerous efforts by the left, by the Regime, and by union buddies to destroy him, to take him out of office, to recall him from office (twice) to ruin his reputation. He has survived it all, and he has survived it not afraid. He has not been compromised in surviving this. He did not become one of them in order to survive. He remained who he was. He remained a conservative --

"NC NAACP Chief Denounces Extremists of All Kinds, Including Conservatives" read a headline in Monday´s edition of the State, daily newspaper of Columbia, S.C. But if the story is a full account of the Rev. William Barber II´s "speech of fire and thunder," delivered in the Palmetto State capital on the eve of Martin Luther King Day, the headline should have read "NC NAACP Chief Denounces All Kinds of Conservatives as Extremists." As far as we know from reading the article, the only people he criticized other than conservatives were, as the reporter put it, "blacks who he said aren´t following

RUSH: Well, ladies and gentlemen, it looks like I continue to live rent free in the head of the president, Barack Obama. It seems that the New Yorker has just posted more from their 18-page Obama interview. I don´t know if the whole thing has been on the Internet. I didn´t read the whole thing. It may have been up there all the time. But here is what the president said, the New Yorker interview with David Remnick that they have just posted. "Another way of putting it, I guess, is that the issue has been the inability of my message

The interview will take place at the White House and cover a wide range of topics.

They probably won’t promote their 6-inch big hot pastrami sandwich, but the Subway chain of restaurants is partnering with first lady Michelle Obama’s campaign to persuade kids to eat healthier meals. Subway and the first lady’s office announced a three-year commitment Thursday in support of Mrs. Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign. The sandwich shops will promote efforts aimed at getting children to eat more fruits and vegetables. Subway offers a variety of low-fat sandwiches on its menu, along with choices that probably wouldn’t get the first lady’s approval, such as the six-inch chicken and bacon ranch melt with cheese, which contains 28 grams

President Obama will partner with Google for the "first-ever Presidential Hangout Road Trip," Google announced today. "Next Tuesday, at 9pm EST, President Obama will deliver his annual State of the Union address to Congress. Later that week, you´ll have the chance to connect with the President and speak about his administration’s plan in the first-ever Presidential Hangout Road Trip," claims Google in a blog post. But it would appear the "Road Trip" does not require the president to hit the road: On Friday, January 31, President Obama will “travel” the country in a virtual whistlestop tour. He’ll hop into Google+ Hangouts with people

The U.S. is likely to exhaust its borrowing authority on the earlier side of what Treasury Secretary Jack Lew had estimated, he said in a letter to Congressional leaders on Wednesday. Lew warned in the new letter that Congress will likely need to raise the debt ceiling by late February to avoid a potential default on the country´s obligations. As part of the bill to reopen the government in mid-October, the debt limit was suspended through Feb. 7. The Treasury can use so-called "extraordinary measures" after that point to keep borrowing and paying the nation´s bills for a few weeks thereafter. "While this

The media and fundraising apparatus of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, is making the most of the 41st anniversary of “Roe v Wade.” They are imploring supporters for donations to “show Boehner that there are consequences for Republicans unrelenting war against women.” Moreover, the fundraising letter cites that Republicans are trying to bring a bill to the house floor that could force rape survivors to face “abortion audits.” Many Republicans, Independents and tea party supporters believe that Democrats and the left conflate women’s rights

Marxist leftists have prepared a nightmarish blueprint for American socialism in a new revolutionary "book of imagination." The new book, "Imagine Living in a Socialist USA," was edited by Frances Goldin who praises "life-enhancing socialism" in the preface. The 281 page manifesto showcases 31 utopian essays written by dangerous criminals, prominent liberals, and self-described communists - all for just $10.11. It imagines a "free" and "enlightened" socialist United States, promoting radical notions such as eliminating prisons and creating mandatory worker-owned businesses. More dangerously, it details "how to get from where we are to where we want to be," and the authors seem

Whether you spent the last month shopping for presents or stocking up on groceries, ask yourself one question: "How did I get all of those purchases home?" For the vast majority of people, the answer is plastic bags. Despite the popularity of plastic bags, a growing number of municipalities are enacting laws aimed at reducing their use. The laws range from outright bans to taxes. One argument for plastic bag bans is that cities will save money by reducing the costs of litter collection, solid waste disposal and recycling. And in tight fiscal times when municipal budgets are strained, the argument is

While the administration publicly expresses full confidence in its health care law, privately it fears one part of the system is so flawed it could bankrupt insurance companies and cripple ObamaCare itself. "Week after week, month after month," says John Goodman of the National Center for Policy Analysis, "the Obama administration kept telling us everything´s working fine, there´s no problem and then they turn on a dime and fire their contractor." To justify a no-bid contract with Accenture after firing CGI as the lead contractor, the administration released documents from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Center

The news came on an icy, snow-drifted Tuesday as Christie took his oath of office for a second term as New Jersey´s governor. Walter Timpone, a Christie-linked attorney whom Kelly retained after her public firing, received the subpoena served on her Friday by a New Jersey Assembly special investigative committee. But he is stepping aside because he has a conflict of interest.

The Pentagon on Wednesday is expected to announce widespread changes to rules governing religious items and religion-based physical attributes that service members can maintain while in uniform — including beards, some religious tattoos, and turbans. NBC News obtained an early draft of the new Department of Defense instruction which states that the military will make every effort to accommodate “individual expressions of sincerely held beliefs” (conscience, moral principles, or religious beliefs) of service members. It goes on to say that unless doing so could have an adverse impact on military readiness, unit cohesion, good order and discipline, health and safety,

Are you dazed and confused by Barack Obama, the nominal Democrat, whose conduct as president since 2009 has seen him sink from nearly 70 percent to 40 percent or less in the national polling, from which he has seemed to learn nothing, but still marches on? Fear not, the doctor is in: Fred Siegel of the Manhattan Institute, whose latest book, The Revolt Against The Masses: How Liberalism Has Undermined the Middle Class, explains all you wanted to know about Obama, and much else. It explains why he never became the new Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy or Lyndon B.

What’s so great about Zulu? To answer that question properly, you need to pass this test first. 1) Do you know Men of Harlech off by heart? 2) Can you name at least half of the 11 Victoria Cross winners in the film (by their nicknames where possible) without resorting to Google? 3) Have you ever found yourself stirred to ridiculous feelings of patriotism by John Barry’s magnificent film score on the morning commute? I really hope someone else answers “yes” to all three, otherwise you can chalk me up as a lone madman. Zulu--released 50 years ago this week--is

The bare-bones Wendy Davis story — the one without embellishment — is sufficiently inspiring as a matrix for defying expectations. The daughter of a teenage mother and a teenage mother herself, Davis managed to beat the odds by getting a college education and Ivy League law degree, then launching a political career that’s brought her national adulation. But since Davis’ Democratic gubernatorial ambitions caught fire last year, “facts have been blurred” in the retelling of her life’s story, as reported Sunday by this newspaper’s senior political writer, Wayne Slater.

TOPEKA — A man who provided sperm to a lesbian couple in response to an online ad is the father of a child born to one of the women and must pay child support, a Kansas judge ruled Wednesday. Topeka resident William Marotta had argued that he had waived his parental rights and didn’t intend to be a father. Shawnee County District Judge Mary Mattivi rejected that claim, saying the parties didn’t involve a licensed physician in the artificial insemination process and thus Marotta didn’t qualify as a sperm donor, The Topeka Capital-Journal reported.
