Alabama House reacts
to IRS-tea party issues

Associated Press, by Phillip Rawls

MONTGOMERY — Reacting to the ruckus in Washington over the Internal Revenue Service, the Alabama House voted Tuesday to make it a misdemeanor crime for state or local tax officials to audit an individual or group because of their political views. The bill’s sponsor, Republican Rep. Wayne Johnson of Ryland, said it is the result of how the IRS gave extra scrutiny to applications from tea party groups and others seeking tax-exempt status and delayed the applications for years. “Our goal is to ensure that Alabamians never have to worry about their state government threatening them because of their political views,” he

Why didn`t they make it a felony? Prison time gets people`s attention, not a misdemeanor.

I agree, make it a class one felony! A misdemeanor is like spitting on the sidewalk and is an insult. I´m still looking for these IRS people behind the Tea Party inqisition to get thrown in jail for what they did.

A "misdemeanor"?

Oh, like a traffic ticket they can pay off for $50?

How about a FELONY with a minimum of 35 years in the slammer with NO possibility of Parole?

Either you are protecting US from the thugs or you are not...get serious!

"Ruckus" makes it sound like a playground spat. Which was, of course, your intent.

Anthony Weiner Hired As Business Insider

It’s not an early April Fool’s joke -- Business Insider has hired disgraced former NYC Congressman and mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner to write a weekly political column, starting Friday. Hunter Walker, Business Insider’s politics editor, published the announcement on Monday, after teasing the news on Twitter by announcing that “something wonderful is about to happen.” The folks at Business Insider are clearly aware of the built-in entertainment value of hiring the scandalized politician, who is best known for sending an explicit photo of himself to an online mistress on Twitter -- and initially denying the photo was his. When NASA astronauts were suiting up to go to space in the 1960s, they had to make a big decision before they explored the world above us: How large of a man are you? Getting it wrong could damage the mission. According to a former NASA life support system expert who helped construct space diapers, otherwise known as Maximum Absorbency Garment systems, each astronaut in the Gemini and Apollo programs had to wear a condom-type sheath with a hole at the end for urination inside their suits. In an interview on the Science Channel´s Moon Machines documentary series about early space travel, engineer

A new species of praying mantis, Liturgusa algorei, indigenous to the thick rain forests of Peru has been named after former vice president Al Gore; one of 19 new species of the insect recently identified by entomologist Gavin Svenson. The discoveries came after Svenson, curator of invertebrate zoology at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, decided to search through both old collections at museums and embark on field expeditions into the forests of Central and South America. Unlike the patient, zen-like praying mantis we´re all familiar with, these equatorial cousins take a decidedly different approach to both hunting and self-preservation. "This group,

President Obama, like most Kenyan politicians, loves beating about the bush and avoiding the real issue. In Kenya, we all know the big problem is corruption, but we are addressing virtually everything else but corruption. And so in America, our cousin President Obama dances around serious issues like the typical Kenyan he is. When Russia invaded Georgia in 2008, Obama thundered with indignation and a fulsome, righteous — and justified — anger. The people of Georgia thought he would follow through on his fiery words with real action to set their country free of Russia’s torment, but wapi! With Cousin Barry, as with

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has dodged some version of the question countless times before, but that didn´t stop a young woman from asking - and laying on a guilt trip, to boot. "Mrs. Clinton, if you don´t represent women in politics in America as future president, who will?" she asked during a Saturday meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative University in Tempe, Ariz., according to the Wall Street Journal. Talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel, who was presiding over the discussion, jumped in: "To add to that, when you do run for president will you use the old Clinton campaign lawn signs?" Mrs.

The 2012 Republican presidential nominee said Obama didn´t have the foresight to anticipate Russia´s moves and should have been working earlier with allies to make clear the penalties that Russia would face if it moved into Ukraine. Romney did acknowledge that such steps may not have been enough though to hold back Russia President Vladimir Putin. "Had we communicated those things, there´s always

Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,
