What would Patrick Henry do with the NSA?
Daily Caller, by Mike Church

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 1/22/2014 5:30:41 AM

In the Pixar film “A Bug’s Life,” a colony of ants is threatened by a gang of motorcycle-riding grasshoppers. The grasshoppers scare — or “terrorize” — the ants into collecting their grain for them. The ants become desperate, fearing they cannot collect “Hopper’s” grain and theirs before the winter so they decide to go on offense and hire “warrior bugs.” The warriors turn out to be actors who play tough guys but really are hapless thespians. By the end of the film, the warriors figure out how to fool the grasshoppers into believing a hungry bird has found the colony’s

Actually, Mr. Church, when the ´warrior bugs´ proved unable to stop the grasshoppers, the ants finally came to the realization that they both outnumbered the enemy and had nothing left to lose. They rose up and routed their oppressors, re-securing their right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness - at least until such a time as they became timid and complacent once again.

Mr. Henry would have been proud.

“We’ve got close to 7 million Americans who have access to health care for the first time because of Medicaid expansion.”President Obama, remarks during dinner with the Democratic Governors Association, Feb. 20, 2014 The Fact Checker has written several times about the fuzziness of the Medicaid numbers issued by the Obama administration. But it is like playing whack-a-mole. Every time we rap someone for getting it wrong, the same problem pops up someplace else. But here is the ultimate authority — the president of the United States — making the problematic claim that everyone counted under the administration’s

A few days after John F Kennedy´s assassination, Lyndon Johnson sat in his kitchen with his key advisers working his first speech to Congress. It was the evening of Kennedy´s funeral – Johnson was now president. The nation was still in grief and Johnson, writes Robert Caro in The Years of Lyndon Johnson: The Passage of Power, was not yet able to move into the White House because Kennedy´s effects were still there. He had been a hapless vice-president; now he had to both personify and project the transition from bereavement to business as usual. In the midst of the cold

Egypt´s interim prime minister says his Cabinet has resigned. Hazem el-Beblawi´s military-backed government was sworn in on July 16, less than two weeks after the army ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi after a year in office. The government´s surprise resignation, announced by el-Beblawi in a live Monday TV broadcast, comes amid a host of strikes, including one by public transport workers and garbage collectors. An acute shortage of cooking gas has also been making front page news the past few days. It was not immediately clear who will replace el-Beblawi, who has often been derided in the media for his perceived indecisiveness and

WASHINGTON—Five years after leaving office, former President George W. Bush teared up when asked about a post-presidential initiative to help veterans returning from wars in Afghanistan and Iraq—two controversial conflicts that began on his watch. “I obviously get slightly emotional talking about our vets,” Mr. Bush said in an interview broadcast Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” with reporter Martha Raddatz, a one-time war correspondent. “I’m in there with them.” U.S. troops have been removed from Iraq, and the conflict in Afghanistan is being wound down—creating an influx of veterans trained for war and now facing a transition to civilian life.

Liberals don’t like Ted Cruz, but they’re rooting for him, because they feel he’s going to destroy the Republican Party. What they ought to be feeling is this: profound embarrassment. Ever since his unexpected primary win over an establishment-backed lieutenant governor in 2012, Cruz has been a source of great frustration to the Republican establishment. The conservative base is crazy about him for this very reason. It’s why the junior Senator from Texas has become the most influential politician in Washington. Meanwhile, what does the liberal base have to show for itself? Who is the liberal Ted Cruz? Most people seem to

Drug Rationing for Seniors Begins

Buried beneath the avalanche of recent news reports about the latest Obamacare-mandated funding cuts to the Medicare Advantage (MA) program is a related but far more disturbing story — the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has taken a major step toward rationing medications to the elderly. Since passage of the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003, seniors enrolled in the Medicare prescription drug program have been guaranteed access to “all or substantially all” of the drugs in several classes of pharmaceuticals. President Obama’s health care bureaucrats, however, have proposed removing three of these classes from the “protected” list. The New

It’s one thing to be tolerant of what once were known as “alternative lifestyles.” It’s another thing to be asked to celebrate them, as the exuberant mythologizers of Michael Sam and Johnny Weir ask us to do. And it is way beyond the pale to hold forth on any sort of sex life — perhaps apart from self-restraint — as if it’s a form of heroism. Yet the culture of the professional Left, enthusiastically aided by the establishment media, is going bonkers in pushing active homosexuality (or any one of several exotic variants thereof) as an absolute virtue. What the West Must Do for Ukraine

BRUSSELS — Thanks in part to the coordinated efforts of Germany, Poland, France and the United States, irrevocable change has finally come to Ukraine, with President Viktor F. Yanukovych’s flight from Kiev and Parliament’s vote to call for new elections in May. But the powers still have urgent work to do. Ukraine could either descend into chaos or right itself on a path toward a new democratic stability. The European powers and the United States must offer the country all possible support to move toward the latter. The first and most urgent step for Western leaders is to send unequivocal messages to

Last week, there was one of those mommy-and-daddy-are-fighting moments on Fox News as two powerhouse conservatives debated one of the most important issues facing the right. In one corner, was the dagger-sharp and stunningly beautiful and did I mention beautiful Ann Coulter. In the other corner, was the valiant, good-hearted and, you know, perfectly presentable in his own way Sean Hannity. No one can doubt either the patriotism or the fearlessness of these two. You may sometimes disagree with one or the other, that’s fine, but it seems undeniable that both have the good of the country first and foremost

Conservatives have had it up to here (hand to top of forehead) with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.). The Obama administration is launching an “attack” on the Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D programs as part of Obamacare that will result in higher costs and fewer health care options for seniors, according to a U.S. House subcommittee. The administration is quietly introducing “policies that would undermine the integrity and success of the Medicare Part D program” according to the subcommittee. President Bush signed Medicare Part D into law in 2003 to subsidize prescription drug costs for Medicare beneficiaries. The Daily Caller has learned that the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health will hold a hearing Feb.

The Obama administration warned Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday not to react too aggressively to the fast-moving developments in Ukraine, where pro-Western demonstrators forced the nation’s Moscow-backed president from power over the weekend. National Security Adviser Susan E. Rice said the situation unfolding in Kiev “reflects the will of the Ukrainian people and the interests of the United States and Europe,” and that Russia would be making a “grave mistake” if it sends in military forces to try to reverse the developments — or to seize control of pro-Moscow eastern Ukraine. The Putin government has shown no outward signs

The University of Notre Dame must provide birth control to employees and students after a federal appeals court ruled Friday, a move the school says will force it to violate its religious beliefs. In a blow to religious colleges and universities across the country, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago denied Notre Dame´s request for an injunction to the ObamaCare birth control mandate that requires the school to provide coverage for contraception. The injunction would have given Notre Dame a temporary reprieve from the birth control mandate, as the Roman Catholic school challenges the rule in court.
