House GOP Plans To Save
Obama With Immigration Reform

Investor´s Business Daily, by Editorial

Original Article

Immigration: President Obama expects House Republicans to jump-start his presidency by embracing amnesty for illegal aliens. But if it does, the GOP could wreck its chances to take back the Senate. Republicans should own the issue of immigration. After all, the last time — 1986 — the nation took the "comprehensive" approach that Democrats now propose, nothing ended up being fixed in exchange for the amnesty for millions of illegals. And today, insisting on securing the border before doing anything else is no-lose politically. Yet the House GOP is poised to use a piecemeal strategy as cover to enact, more or less,

I told her there is a primary Boehner movement afoot, and that I will join it, and donate to it.

Why not wait to see what if anything the GOP brings forward.

Bob Goodlatte is the Chair of the Judiciary Committee in the House. They have jurisdiction over the immigration laws. This is Goodlattes position - To be clear, any immigration reform proposal must first guarantee that our immigration laws are enforced both at the border and within the United States. I remain opposed to amnesty, as I always have been. I do not support a special pathway to citizenship that rewards those who have broken our immigration laws. Seems pretty clear to me.

Let´s unpack Goldlatte´s language a little for #12:

"any immigration reform proposal must first guarantee that our immigration laws are enforced both at the border and within the United States."

Does he mean the existing immigration laws that are already being violated now? That would mean deporting all the illegals. We wouldn´t need immigration reform to do that. In fact, if we did that, we wouldn´t need immigration reform at all. Or does Goldlatte mean enforcing new "reformed" immigration laws that let the illegals stay?

"I remain opposed to amnesty, as I always have been." Then what is Goldlatte proposing? Something that lets the illegals stay? That´s amnesty by another name.

"I do not support a special pathway to citizenship that rewards those who have broken our immigration laws." Note the qualifier "special" here. The only legal pathway for illegals now is to leave our country and start the application process in their country. Again, problem solved if we enforced current law. But I suspect Goldlatte has another pathway in mind.

You have to remember that since about 1965 it has been the liberal Democrats and increasingly the Democrat aligned ethnic and immigrant rights groups who have been designing America´s immigration laws to fail in order to engender new amnesties, with the Republican role usually being to go along to get along with the liberal Democrats as long as the liberal Democrat designed immigration policies provided business interests with a flood of cheap foreign labor both illegal and legal.

Now there are so many illegal aliens here that another amnesty to eventually turn the illegal alien population, plus their close foreign relatives who the Democrats intend to allow into the US in unlimited numbers, into US voters in the years ahead, will ensure that the Republicans will never have enough votes to win future presidential elections since historically about 85% of legalized aliens in the past have become reliable Democrat voters..

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter — who used her talk show platform in the last presidential election cycle to campaign hard for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — has taken up the mantra once again, calling on Republicans to give the failed White House bidder another shot in 2016. She made the suggestion during a discussion on Sean Hannity’s radio show while speaking of her new book, “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3-Especially a Republican.” Ms. Coulter also addressed the question of Mr. Romney’s shortcomings by saying that his 2012 loss wasn’t entirely his fault. “I think too much blame, not only in this

He’s been hammered for going around Congress with executive orders. But he’s within his authority—and he should go further on voting and transparency to make government work better. With Congress paralyzed, President Obama has promised to use his “pen and phone” to overcome the ongoing dysfunction and get some work done. And the White House has already acted several times to help improve America’s economy. But such policies, no matter how valuable, will achieve little if we do not fix our broken democracy. Allow me to suggest some ideas for how the president can do just that. First, some historical context. Presidents

Here is a selection of highlights from Friday’s release of documents from the Clinton presidency. The cache is part of a total of about 33,000 pages of presidential records that had been held back from various public records releases because of legal reasons exempting them from disclosure. A Clinton administration memo (page 674) shows a White House that was acutely aware of the first lady’s image problems as officials contemplated how to soften perceptions of Hillary Clinton and how to “build, energize and expand” her natural base. The latest cache of previously withheld Clinton documents includes an

The GOP has been hijacked. That’s right, hijacked. Over the past 100 years, an elite progressive minority has taken the Republican Party far afield from its conservative platform and the interests and values of its grassroots conservative base. I’ll admit that, in the aftermath of the disappointments of the 2012 elections, conservatives like me are angry. We are angry at being blamed for Mitt Romney’s defeat, when we argued from the beginning that he was a Big Government establishment politician and that if he ran a content-free campaign, he would lose. We are angry at the disrespect shown to limited-government constitutional conservatives

Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent.
