Wall Street adviser: Actual unemployment

Washington Examiner, by Paul Bedard

Don´t believe the happy talk coming out of the White House, Federal Reserve and Treasury Department when it comes to the real unemployment rate and the true “Misery Index.” Because, according to an influential Wall Street advisor, the figures are a fraud. In a memo to clients provided to Secrets, David John Marotta calculates the actual unemployment rate of those not working at a sky-high 37.2 percent, not the 6.7 percent advertised by the Fed, and the Misery Index at over 14, not the 8 claimed by the government. Marotta, who recently advised those worried about an imploding economy to get a

You can´t have over 90 million people out of work and have a preposterously low unemployment figures like the government wants us to swallow...
Unless, of course, you live in China. Maybe the Øbamboozler out-sourced the calculations to the Chi-Coms...

Thank you Paul Bedard. I have been loudly complaining about the hidden figures of the Misery Index for awhile.

How can the obtuse Obama regime think they are hiding the Misery from Americans who are living it?

Worst and Most Corrupt Administration in my lifetime. Since we will never recover from the corruption of this regime, I can only hope and pray that history lists he and his cronies as the criminals and crooks they are.

And that 90 Million does not include the underemployed. Sadly many of those are young people, some have an inadequate education but mostly it is just a lack of jobs. How debilitating to be working only part time in a job that is not at your level of skill, or not working at all for years. The government is fudging the figures & the media is not reporting. Oh, NB that Mr. Marotta advised people to get a gun.

Early national polling is supporting the prevailing view in Washington that Democrats are in trouble in the 2014 midterm elections. While Democrats are more popular than the GOP among the general public, the party faces a number of challenges in November. First, there´s an enthusiasm gap. Typically, but not always, Republicans vote at higher rates than Democrats in congressional elections. And at this early stage, that seems likely to happen again, perhaps at an even greater rate than usual. One telling indicator came in December, when the Pew Research Center found that Republicans are much more optimistic about their party´s electoral

The chore of determining who is the inevitable candidate for Republicans – at least in the minds of beltway insiders and the media – is clearly becoming more difficult. But the Washington Post takes a swing at the problem this weekend as they delve into the number of big donors who are now courting Jeb Bush to get off the bench and toss his hat in the ring. Many of the Republican Party’s most powerful insiders and financiers have begun a behind-the-scenes campaign to draft former Florida governor Jeb Bush into the 2016 presidential race, courting him and his intimates and

Thirty-three years ago today, on the thirtieth day of the third month of 1981, a gunman attempted to assassinate President Ronald Wilson Reagan. This is not only a major historical event; it is also an American healthcare first: the only time a president was shot in office and survived. According to a beautifully written book on the subject, Rawhide Down: The Near Assassination of Ronald Reagan by Del Quentin Wilber, the president was closer to death than most of us ever realized. His life was saved several times by Secret Service agents and then by physicians and nurses who did the

Warning: graphic descriptions below. Most of us shared a collective gasp last week when news broke that aborted babies in the UK were incinerated and, in some cases, used to heat hospitals. Mike McNally wrote, It’s emerged that several National Health Service (NHS) trusts in the UK have been routinely burning the bodies of aborted babies as “clinical waste,” and that in at least two cases the remains were used to heat hospitals – an example of ruthless efficiency if ever there was one. This is what happens when the progressive left’s culture of death meets the heartless bureaucracy of socialized healthcare. This,

The emergency beacon came from a fishing vessel and the nature of the distress call is unknown. Two aircraft have been deployed to the area where the signal originated, and it will take at least five hours for planes to reach the location. Responding to an ad that caused the McConnell campaign to apologize for multiple issues on Tuesday, Bevin released an ad set to air Friday that pokes fun at McConnell’s inclusion of images of the Duke basketball team in a spot that was supposed to congratulate the Kentucky Wildcats. “March Madness in Kentucky: Commitment, courage — you gotta love it, even if your team is already out of the tournament,”

He bluntly warned that “when America does not play an active and vigorous role in the world, bad people do.” Scott Walker, the governor of Wisconsin, suggested that the president’s foreign policy team had failed to grasp a lesson known to any parent disciplining a child: You cannot waver. “If they don’t believe we are strong,” Mr.

In the beginning, over there where you can see Russia, there was former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska). And now there is Joni Ernst (R-Iowa). What I saw in the now-famous campaign clip for her Senate run in Iowa — in which she promised to "make them squeal" in Washington and said her Washington skills would include castrating pigs — was confidence and fearlessness. It was a clever ad, and amusing. President Bill Clinton´s guilty conscience over his affair with Monica Lewinsky – and a desire to repair his shattered reputation by using the State of the Union address – set his speechwriters an unenviable task, newly released archive papers reveal. The former president appeared to be trying to butter up his wife, Hillary Clinton, out of guilt – or perhaps to fool her – before the scandal broke. And he was determined to try to convince the American public afterwards that he was still of a high moral character. Some conservatives are up in arms over a hurried Thursday vote on the so-called “doc fix” for Medicare, which they felt leadership tried to slip by them. The cut will take effect on April 1 if Congress does not move to prevent it. Owing to the tight deadline, leadership opted to bring the bill straight to the floor “under

Texas Governor Rick Perry is currently on a media tour touting the theme that America is a great place for second chances, specifically second chances for Texas governors with national ambitions. A startling rift appeared Tuesday on the Supreme Court as the three female Justices came out swinging like Brunnhildes — women warriors — for what they erroneously labeled an “entitlement” to employer-provided contraceptives and morning-after pills. The Justices were hearing oral arguments in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., a case hyped by the Democratic Party as a test for women’s rights. Justices Kagan, Ginsberg, and Sotomayor sprang on Hobby Lobby’s attorney , interrupting his every sentence and pummeling him with questions taken right out of the Democratic Party’s “war on women” playbook.
