EDD answers only 10% to 17%

SACRAMENTO — Four months after a botched computer upgrade delayed unemployment benefits for tens of thousands of Californians, jobless workers are still finding it nearly impossible to reach state employees for help. On any given day in recent months, as many as 90% of callers to the Employment Development Department seeking information about missed payments or unprocessed claims failed to reach a live worker, according to agency phone records obtained by The Times. Callers who don´t get through to staff are routed to a recorded voice directing them to seek answers on the EDD website or get help through an automated self-service

The government has always been incompetent from one degree or another but noting like it is today and apparently most of it is caused by crony, unqualified IT people who get contracts off donations. What makes these people getting burned even angrier is they can´t blame republicans for their debacles.

If something like this ever hit EBT deposits,it would generate the entertainment of a lifetime.Too bad the grocery shelves would be stolen bare so you couldn´t buy popcorn to eat while watching.

I was on unemployment for awhile, thanks 0bama, and it was the same story in my midwestern state. I think the problems are by design not incompetence. My workaround was when I found the direct phone number for an office in the rural part of my state. Those people still answered the phone and though a little surprised that I´d found them, they fixed my problem and wished me well.

It´s time for everyone to admit that our current government means us harm, unless somebody reading this is a well-connected, thoroughly corrupt insider.

More and more like Argentina, every day. Those depending on government checks, or services, should prepare.
Like utility brown-outs, big brother is becoming unreliable. This does not mean government will become less dangerous. Quite the contrary.

NASHUA, N.H. — Granite State Republicans are calling U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen a hypocrite for asking potential GOP challenger and former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown to keep “outside” money out of the campaign while she fills the Democratic war chest on the West Coast. “She asks him to keep out third-party money, but meanwhile she’s out in California raising money for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. So while she’s out there fundraising, she’s asking Scott Brown — who’s in Dover — to sign a pact to keep out out-of-state money,” New Hampshire state Rep. A car dealership in Wichita, Kan. has come up with an interesting response to a local union’s campaign to shame the dealership for using non-union workers. A large white banner, manned by several people in front of the dealership, reads “Shame on Subaru of Wichita.” But the dealership responded with a banner of its own that reads “For Having Unbeatable Prices.” The Carpenters Local 201 union says that the car dealer is using a drywall company for a construction project that employs non-union workers. The banner’s guards, whom Subaru of Wichita says it believes are temp workers hired by the union, also

Police are investigating the possibility that the pilot of missing Flight MH370 hijacked his own aircraft in a bizarre political protest. The Mail on Sunday has learned that Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah was an ‘obsessive’ supporter of Malaysia’s opposition leader, Anwar Ibrahim. And hours before the doomed flight left Kuala Lumpur it is understood 53-year-old Shah attended a controversial trial in which Ibrahim was jailed for five years. Campaigners say the politician, the key challenger to Malaysia’s ruling party, was the victim of a long-running smear campaign and had faced trumped-up charges. Police sources have confirmed that Shah was a vocal political activist

Secretary of State John Kerry on Friday warned of pending sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine; he gave Putin an ultimatum to halt the aggression by Monday or “serious things will happen.” Kerry then proceeded to strike additional fear into Putin’s heart by saying talk of sanctions was not “a threat,” nor anything “personal,” of course. “We hope President Putin will recognize that none of what we’re saying is meant as a threat, it’s not meant in a personal way. It is meant as a matter of respect for the international, multilateral structure that we have lived by

By now it’s settled on most people, including Democrats, that the loss of Alex Sink to David Jolly in Florida’s 13th Congressional District was, in the words of the New York Times, “devastating” to Democrats. It’s a district Ms. Sink carried in her unsuccessful race for governor against Rick Scott, a district that Barack Obama carried in his two elections, and a district that demographically now favors Democrats. In addition, Ms. Sink raised more money and ran a better campaign than Jolly. Even Bill Clinton lent his efforts to her campaign. And yet she lost. What should particularly alarm Democrats is
