Merger of Palace staff is latest step on
Prince of Wales´s journey to kingship

Telegraph [UK], by Gordon Rayner

Original Article

The Prince of Wales will take the latest significant step in his journey towards becoming king later this month when a key part of his household merges with Buckingham Palace. The Prince’s 10-man communications team, which is responsible for his public image, will move from Clarence House to the Palace, where one of the Prince’s most senior courtiers is expected to take charge of publicity for all members of the Royal family. It will be the first time in a generation that all of the Royal family’s image-makers will work from the same office, and will give the Prince significantly

Comments:
For those interested in the goings-on of the Windsors. For those who don´t care, don´t read it!

Awkward usage--Charles is not going to become king later this month.

Might as well get used to it, Elizabeth has been queen since 1953. Sixty years is enough.

Trivia:

Victoria was longest reigning British monarch--63 years--died aged 81; Elizabeth is second--61 years--aged 87 years.

It´s the Queen´s duty to serve until she dies and she has never shirked a duty.

I suspect Harry´s new desk duties as what can only be termed a ceremonial events planner are part of the changes in PR.

Dang, was hoping Queen Liz would skip over her Eco idiot son and give it to William. The Brits will be stuck with Chuck for a long, long time.

Elizabeth was a very young woman when the heavy mantle fell onto her shoulders. She has served well from the first day.
Charles is going to have to take the short bus to prepare him to assume the job.
His mother knows it. He really isn´t capable.
Charles should be skipped over and William should be King. IMHO.

Charles is a dingbat, and his wife is a horrid woman. If the Brits make him king and his wretched wife queen, the monarchy is doomed. If Charles had been a real man and made his marriage to Diana work, they would have been one of the most admired couples. But, instead, he carried on a torrid affair with ugly Camilla, saying he wanted to be her tampax. Prince William and Kate are a beautiful couple, and the monarchy would be well served to make William King instead of his dimwit father.

I shudder thinking of the day this twit becomes king.

My only consolation is that QEII will never abdicate and hopefully, his reign will be short, or even better, he´ll be too dotty to ascend to the throne.

Of course he´s capable. There have been many kings and queens of England who didn´t perfectly measure up, but England survived. There is no power left in the British monarchy, so all Charles has to do is smile at the cameras, run the red boxes each AM and show up at all the important events.

I want Charles to have his crown, but it won´t come before his mother´s death. She seems determined to fulfill her oath and, as queen, that is her privilege.

If Queen Elizabeth lives as long as her mother, Charles is going to have to wait another 15 years or so to start kinging in his own right. By that time the 80 year old or so Charles will be pleased as punch to pass the Kingdom on to William.

Barack Obama cannot abdicate

Just as Franklin Roosevelt promised never to send “American boys” to fight in Europe, so Barack Obama vowed that US military strength would henceforth “pivot” towards Asia. Once again, a European crisis has brought the ambitions of a second-term US president back to earth. [Snip] His very presence underlined a Cold War message: that America serves as the ultimate guarantor of European security. Whatever his innermost wishes, Mr Obama cannot abdicate from that role. In other words, Vladimir Putin has made a profound difference. His Ukraine adventure has forced Mr Obama to turn away from the Pacific and behave in

For anyone who still takes the security of the West seriously – and I fear I am in a distinct minority – the manner in which Russian President Vladimir Putin has effortlessly achieved his audacious land grab in the Crimea should serve as a dramatic wake-up call for Nato. And yet, to judge by the mood music coming from the meeting of Western leaders in The Hague this week, the likelihood of Nato doing anything to dissuade Moscow´s macho man from undertaking any further acts of military adventurism in central Europe or the Baltic states does not seem at all

The latest report from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is due out next week. If the leaked draft is reflected in the published report, it will constitute the formal moving on of the debate from the past, futile focus upon "mitigation" to a new debate about resilience and adaptation. [Snip] Stern estimates the costs of his recommended policies for mitigating climate change at 2 percent of GDP--and his estimates are widely regarded as relatively optimistic (others estimate mitigation costs as high as 10 percent of global GDP). The number of homes where no-one has a job has fallen by nearly half a million in just two years, new figures showed yesterday. There were fewer children living in families where nobody works even than at the height of the boom a decade ago, they said. The rapid drop in the ranks of benefit-dependent families comes against a background of rising employment, and of welfare reforms designed to make it less lucrative to choose to live on the state rather than to work. Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith hailed the new figures as success for attempts to make work

The Law Society’s decision to issue a practice note to solicitors who may be interested in drafting “Sharia-compliant” wills for their Muslim clients is shocking. WASHINGTON — Mitt Romney said Sunday that President Barack Obama is naive when it comes to Russia, has shown "faulty judgment" about Moscow´s intentions and could have done more to try to deter its annexation of Crimea. The 2012 Republican presidential nominee said Obama didn´t have the foresight to anticipate Russia´s moves and should have been working earlier with allies to make clear the penalties that Russia would face if it moved into Ukraine. A few weeks ago, I wrote about how the sweeping acceptance of gay marriage in recent years is owed in large part to Christianity. Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,
