Tom Coburn caused fear and
loathing on Capitol Hill

Washington Examiner, by Timothy P. Carney

Original Article

When Tom Coburn leaves the Senate at the end of this year, it may be a while before Washington sees someone like him – because Washington tries its hardest to keep out people like him. Coburn announced Jan. 16 that due to his struggles with cancer he will resign at the end of 2014 and will not serve the last two years of his six-year term. The best testament to Coburn’s time in Washington may be the scorn and fear he earned from the Beltway establishment. Coburn, an obstetrician, came to Washington as part of the famous 1994 Republican revolution. He pledged to

Coburn has been one of my favorite Senators, along with Jim Demint. If he isn´t replaced by someone who thinks the way he does, America will have lost a good and loyal servant. Until this article I didn´t realize how badly compromised the Republican party has made itself.

Shame, shame on these Republicans: Bill Frist, Mitch McConnell Jon Kyl, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Judd Gregg, Richard Shelby, and Ted Stevens all gave PAC money to Humphreys. Republicans John Sununu, Gordon Smith and Saxby Chambliss also spent to keep Coburn out. Traitors all, and they wonder why Republicans lose elections? McPain and Miss Graham also deserve blame, along with Collins and Snow. If these people ever really listened to We the People and acted accordingly, they probably wouldn´t have to worry about elections too much.

Next time the ankle-biting Rovettes start yapping about unelectable Tea Party candidates (as opposed to unelectable GOP candidates like McCain/Romney), ask them to explain what happened to Coburn at the hands of the GOP establishment. The crony manufactured rot at the core of the GOP is what fuels the rage of patriots.

Progressive Dems and their agenda sicken me. But the betrayal of our own by the Evil Establishment Elite makes me angry. My parents gave many years of service, and hard-earned dollars, to support a party that they thought stood with Reagan and God-fearing Americans. Thank you, Timothy Carney for pulling the curtain a bit further back on the fraud behind the GOP curtain. And thanks as always to our esteemed OP, whose judgment I have come to trust over the years.

Lord, bless Senator Tom in his fight with the big C. He has been a real friend to the citizens of Oklahoma. However, I believe there were signs that it was time for him to come home. When he praised Nancy Pelosi in a town hall meeting, it was to me a sign that he was starting to get swallowed up in the Washington cesspool. He is showing real strength of character by getting out while his legacy is clean and honorable.

I can remember one night getting into cyber fisticuffs with fellow faithful ldotters over Senator Dr. Coburn. (and it wasn´t the only night) They were furious with me because I stood behind him even though he seemingly defended Pelosis. I believe a local Oklahoma crowd started booing him when he mentioned her name and he tried to temper the crowd with "she really is a nice lady" or something similar. Ldotters were admonishing me for not voting against him. You have to look at the whole body of work when you vote for or against an incumbent. If the remaining 99 senators voted with as much reason and cause as Dr. Coburn our country would be in a different place. He is a man who has put his country first. He will be missed and I am not sure who in Oklahoma there is to replace him. God bless him and his family.

#5 is not the only one who saw this transformation beginning to take place. I have dedicated conservative pals in OK who always support Senator Coburn. They are not glad the poor man is fighting cancer but they believe it´s time for a change. Yes, his pork list irritated the establishment but I don´t think it really caused him any more grief than simply being from pure bright red OK did anyway. After all, the report was never more than a 2-3 day story. No substantial meaningful, increasingly generous pork-cutting ensued after it´s publication. We need a new generation of Ted Cruz patriots who will take the next step - fight vocally, legislatively and relentlessly to put meat on the bones of the reports and the tough talk. I am so glad the good Senator is going home to his family to fight for his health full-time. It´s a good decision. We conservatives must keep our eye on the ball - filling that seat with the most trustworthy, unflappable, smart conservative we can!

Am I the only one or have you noticed your liberal friends and family have been strangely silent lately? I tweeted as much Friday and, given the number of retweets in a matter of minutes, I gather I am not alone. So why are these normally voluble people suddenly doing a disappearing act? (I’m not talking about the politicians and pundits. They’re being paid to move their mouths.) It’s pretty obvious. They are bewildered and embarrassed. Some are even ashamed of themselves, not that they will readily admit it. The man who was their hero has now been unmasked in every direction as

While researching how public libraries became a popular spot for weirdos to go and watch porn (especially child porn) on free, untraceable WiFi, I discovered something truly hideous. There is an entire community out there who film themselves masturbating in libraries (usually while watching porn on publicly funded WiFi) and then upload these videos to porn sites. People are making porn in public libraries. Don’t take my word for it; go to any porn site and type in “library” in the search function (preferably on your own WiFi at home where there are no children present). But I warn you, it’s

When my mother was my age, she was working full time while raising three small children, and she spent every spare moment studying to finish a graduate degree. My father was working extremely hard as well. Between the two of them, they were able to provide their kids with a solidly middle-class life. But it wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t always fun. So now, as a childless professional in my mid-30s, I often reflect on the sacrifices working parents make to better the lives of their children. And I have come to the reluctant conclusion that I ought to pay much

As a result we are confronted by numerous and powerful adversaries who wish to prevent others from hearing what we have to say, and who have attempted to bury us under layers of fiction as to who we are and what we believe. By appending derisive epithets to our names, they have sought to deny us our humanity and indeed any personhood at all. Because warriors like Glenn Beck are constantly

Buzzell says he´d heard that a valuable mineral deposit used in Chinese medicine formed in the stomachs of porcupines. He then cut open the dead porcupine to search for the mineral and instead found the baby. He tells WMTW-TV he cut the umbilical cord and thought the baby porcupine was dead until he started

Admiral Jeremiah Denton died yesterday at the age of 89. Admiral Denton served seven-and-a-half years as a prisoner of war in Hanoi during the Vietnam War. Denton’s name should be known by every American. In captivity he gave something beyond the last full measure of devotion, if that is possible. His is a story of almost unbelievable endurance, courage and patriotism. Here is a short course courtesy of the Denton Foundation that I saved a while back: In June 1965, he began a combat tour in Vietnam as prospective Commanding Officer of Attack Squadron Seventy-Five. Holy Trinity Church, established in 1891, is a stunning piece of Gothic-style architecture with glorious stained glass windows depicting the life of Christ. St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church took over ownership of the building, and it was registered with the Syracuse Landmark Preservation Board.
