Ted Cruz praises Abbott but won’t
say yet if he backs him for governor

Morning News [Dallas, TX], by Gromer Jeffers, Jr.

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 1/18/2014 10:59:42 AM

FORT WORTH — Ted Cruz praised his former boss, Greg Abbott, on Friday but declined to endorse the attorney general’s bid for governor. “Time will tell,” he said. “Greg Abbott is someone I think extraordinarily highly of. He is a strong, principled conservative who has meant a great deal to me over a decade. I admire Greg Abbott.” Cruz, a tea party leader and hero in the Republican activist movement, has said he probably will not back candidates in contests that feature incumbent Republicans. But the governorship is open, as Republican Rick Perry is stepping down at the end of his current

Comments:
This is why it´s hard to fully embrace Ted Cruz. He can be a real jerk when he´s protecting his Texas spotlight from his fellow Texans. He won´t endorse Cornyn and covers it by saying he has a policy of not getting involved in incumbent races. But Abbott´s race is an open race, not an incumbency, and Cruz worked under Abbott. He would prefer Wendy Davis?

Give Ted a break, please. It is too early to endorse. The media will go after Abbott, let´s see what they try to smear him with. As to Cornyn, he´s a RINO and he needs to go. Like yesterday. He won´t support conservative principles and seems mostly interested in getting on TV, just like McCain and Graham.

It´s not too early to endorse.

Now that I think about it, it´s entirely possible that Cruz wants neither Cornyn nor Abbott to win. Cruz would be senior senator with a Cornyn loss and the ONLY Republican senator if a primary winner couldn´t pull it off in the general. As for Abbott, a Wendy Davis in the governor´s mansion gives Cruz a target, much as Rush Limbaugh carefully sabotaged both McCain and Romney to help Obama win. There aren´t many ratings for a radio pundit if a Republican is in the White House. I´ll sit back and see if Cruz campaigns for either Cornyn or Abbott after their primaries. If he does not, then I am right about his motives.

Talk about pretzel logic, Rush had excellent ratings during the Golden Years of government expansion under the Bush administrations. Greg Abbott will win with or without Ted´s endorsement, as for Cornyn he has grown into the position such that he now supports amnesty. The campaigns of mccain and Romney did not need Rush to sabotage them, they did a great job by themselves. The "establishment" (along with Ann Coulter) pushed Romney as the only electable candidate, that worked out great.

Ted Cruz is as smart as they come and committed to conservative/libertarian principles. The Republican Party is dying as they become RINO´s and campaign on the line we support the liberal agenda but we´re not as corrupt and incompetent as the Democrat Party. I´m done with that. Go for it, Ted Cruz!

Ted Cruz is a lightning rod. Not saying good or bad. Maybe Mr. Abbott asked him not to publicly support him. I can´t imagine that it would hurt but why go looking for trouble? It´ll find you soon enough. Most especially in politics. I´m taking a wait and see approach.

So now without a shred of evidence, it´s time to insinuate Senator Cruz doesn´t want Abbott to win at all? How ridiculous. I think this is pretty simple. A lot of moderates just hate it but Cruz is now pretty powerful. It means his endorsement has real MEANING. If it didn´t, this article would not have been written. Therefore, he is treating the decision of when and how to endorse ANYBODY very wisely! You don´t see any Bushes, Romneys out there endorsing Abbott yet, do you? No because IF they do, they do it near the end because it has meaning. Senator Cruz is in the same position now. He is very wise indeed.

There appears to be a continuation of the "tag-team" effect on Sen. Ted Cruz? OP, 2, 4 and 6/9. Cruz has stated he will not endorse in the primaries as he indicates the choice of representation belongs to the people. He has been consistent on this.
Just because he doesn´t use the words, "I endorse....." in no way is detrimental to the primary contender and is not an indication of what will transpire in the next 10 months.

Is it because Sen. Ted Cruz beat the favorite and well financed representative of the ´establishment/elites´ and has done exactly what he stated during the primary he would do if elected Senator a sore point with the ´tag-team´? I notice Sen. Cruz is getting the same type treatment and comments as Gov. Palin did/does.

The famous Clinton White House document known as "the conspiracy commerce memo" has finally surfaced. The memo, which details how right-wing conspiracy theories made their way into the mainstream press, was written in 1995 and first acknowledged by the White House in 1997. The idea of a “conspiracy” was also famously referred to by Hillary Clinton in 1998, when she cited a “vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he ran for president.” The memo, part of the latest trove of documents released by the Clinton Presidential Library on Friday, outlines “the communication stream of conspiracy

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. Shortly after the Supreme Court’s decision on Obamacare, the CBO projected that 9 million people would buy Obamacare-compliant insurance through newly established government-run exchanges. Now, after an enrollment period that his administration expanded by about two months—to more than half a year—President Obama says that 8 million people have “signed up” for (but in many cases haven’t actually bought) insurance through those exchanges. The Obama administration’s stated goal was to have 39 percent of those who bought such insurance be between the ages of 18 and 34. Now Obama says the actual percentage is 28 percent. Only in Washington, D.C. could someone

House Democrats, battered by Koch brothers ads and facing a grim outlook for the midterms, are providing the clearest indication yet of how they plan to respond: By shoring up imperiled incumbents and only the most promising challengers, but most likely leaving some of the party’s upstart hopefuls to fend for themselves. The strategy, detailed in nearly two dozen interviews with party officials and strategists, is a tacit acknowledgement of the ominous political environment Democrats are up against this year. The goal is to stop Republicans from padding their 17-seat edge and keep the party within striking distance of the majority

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent.
