Is a mini ice age on the way? Scientists warn
the Sun has ´gone to sleep´ and say it could
cause temperatures to plunge

The Sun´s activity is at its lowest for 100 years, scientists have warned. They say the conditions are eerily similar to those before the Maunder Minimum, a time in 1645 when a mini ice age hit, Freezing London´s River Thames. Researcher believe the solar lull could cause major changes, and say there is a 20% chance it could lead to ´major changes´ in temperatures. ´Whatever measure you use, solar peaks are coming down,´ Richard Harrison of the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire told the BBC. ´I´ve been a solar physicist for 30 years, and I´ve never seen anything like this.´ He says the phenomenon could

We´ve learned from The Lightbringer, the Democrats, every single "progressive" around the globe, the MSM, and all the scientific socialists in solidarity with Gaia, that the sun has no impact whatsoever with regards to warming the earth. No, warming is only caused by capitalist greed. So, that´s that and the deniers of MGW are evil lunatics. Thanks, Lightbringer, for helping show us the way to a sunny, sustainable future.

I say we lock all the ice age scientists and all the global warming scientists in a room to battle to the death in order to reach a "consensus".

The article shows a photo of a frozen River Thames in London in 1677. This link:

http://www.webhistoryofengland.com/?p=613

leads to an article about the Frost Fairs held on the River Thames in London. It reports "[t]he last proper freezing of the River Thames in London took place in 1814," and continues:

The frost set in at the start of January, and by the end of the month, the River was frozen solid – an elephant was led across the Thames by Blackfriars Bridge to demonstrate the safety of the ice.

Hoardes of traders and entertainers rushed to set up shop, and the fair was in full-swing. It was shorter than many, as the solid ice lasted only a week.

Even today it´s not difficult to find British Christmas cards depicting one of the annual Frost Fairs. The fairs were hugely popular and families would arrive in sleighs for a winter picnic on the ice. (Masochists!)

The German Herald has a good report on this very same subject, after a report from Dr Habibullo Abdussamatov (St. Petersburg Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory) was released early last year:

http://tinyurl.com/qedef5y

After a good bit of reading (especially "good" once you get past any remarks indicating "doesn´t change the fact that humans are causing global warming"), there are useful observations about the effects and how far the glaciers moved south. Characteristically, what sticks in my mind is that vineyards were destroyed and wine became very scarce. I must start growing fruits resistant to much lower temperatures. My grandmother made highly effective, er, delicious wines from rhubarb, dandelions, nettles, raspberries and/or blackberries. Mum once made "hard" cider but the corks kept popping off, like so many gunshots, usually in the middle of the night. Time to start learning how to make the stuff now, don´t wait for the Mississippi to freeze over at New Orleans ;)

Soon the liberal scientists will have models that conclusively show humans on earth are doing something that is putting out the sun.

Hmmmm. Seems I recall conservatives saying something about global warming being a natural phenomenon due to variable temperatures of the sun and that some day we would experience global cooling for the same reason.

Do conservatives ever get tired of being right?

If the sun goes to sleep we will all die. That said, the effect of the sun on our climate is larger than the effect of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, volcanoes spewing ash into the atmosphere and termites. Cleaning up the atmosphere to affect climate seems absurd to me but dealing with pollutants seems good no matter how the debate over climate comes out. We should focus on dealing with chemicals that are polluting our water and air. How many more chemical plants like the one in West Virginia have not been inspected for decades?

Depending on if the seasons shorten and how much with the quieting sun, food production might become a major issue for a number of countries. If a few big volcanoes go off too, that could be a certainty. Look up the records for the year 1816.

When the fire burns down in my wood stove, a few pokes will usually wake it up.

Why not try the same idea with the sun? If we were to shoot a condensed gaseous energy package at the sun, the resulting explosion could get it relit.

I propose that a heavy-lift launch of AlGore and Michael Moore, aimed dead center at the sun would result in a methane gas explosion of such magnitude that we could get back to the good old days of faux GlowBull Warming.

Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., turned down the opportunity to bash the mainstream media on Friday, when interviewed by Fox News host Megyn Kelly. Kelly pointed out, during a part of the interview aired on Friday, that there was an unprecedented volume of negative media coverage surrounding the bridge controversy in New Jersey. "Has this changed your view of the mainstream media?" she asked. "No, I´ve always had the same view," Christie said, pointing out that anyone can be the "flavor of the month" in the media. In a way it´s the oddest bit of ObamaCare propaganda we´ve seen so far.
