As The House GOP Prepares For
Its "Retreat": Ask For Speakers

Town Hall, by Hugh Hewitt

Two weeks from today, House Republicans will travel to the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina in Cambridge, MD in an attempt to plan their legislative year and of course a strategy for maintaining their majority. They will do so after 64 of their number refused Wednesday to vote for the "omnibus" $1.1 trillion dollar spending bill, the broad outlines of which were hammered out with Senate Democrats by Wisconsin´s Paul Ryan but the details of which were the work of Kentucky´s Hal Rogers who chairs the Appropriations Committee. Many of the "no" votes came from fiscal hawks,

Ten of those 64 are Texas Congressmen, looking out for their constituents.

Thank you, my fellow Texans, for trying to protect our interests.!

A month after holding my nose and voting for Romney, just when the elected republicans declared they would try even harder to be just like the democrats, I gave up on the republican party. I treasure my integrity and vote too much to vote for a candidate who does not, IN ANY WAY, represent my thinking.

I would say Hugh Hewitt has had it with the Establishments, but then so have many of us. Tell us again, what the Establishment Republicans are doing for the country and WHY they are doing it?

At this point I really cannot understand why anyone would support the re-election of John Boehner, Paul Ryan, Kevin McCarthy and Eric Cantor who agree wholeheartedly with Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer. (Don´t tell me the people on this list doesn´t agree with each other, they just voted together on a bill that should never have been negotiated in its final form.)

Hooray for the 64! Send them some love and a little cash for their re-election! Now let´s find some more just like them.

Thank you, Tom Massey!

With more people defining themselves as Independents at this time in our history and leaving the GOP isn´t this a clear invitation to go third party?
It seems the GOP in Congress is making as many evil plans as the Dems. What are we waiting for?

The thing I like about most sports are the rules and how the winner is determined are pretty unambiguous. Score more points, cross the finish line first, jump higher, whatever, and you win. Should there be any foul play or skirting of the rules, there’s an official or referee there to cry foul. It’s simple and, to borrow a word from President Obama, fair. Politics, on the other hand, is quite different. Truth used to be the most potent weapon in the game of politics. It was the best tool with which to garner the most votes, and whoever got the

The State Department´s international aid branch is bidding to prevent 54 million births and help 6 million people with HIV/AIDS in 80 countries annually via a smorgasbord of tools from medicines, the pill, IUDs, and condoms scented to smell like banana, vanilla and strawberry. In documents broadly outlining what USAID plans to buy and distribute overseas to help with birth control, HIV/AIDS, malaria and other issues, the taxpayer-funded agency revealed its population control and HIV/AIDS prevention agenda. While standing in the symbolic birthplace of the Texas energy industry, Spindletop Boomtown Museum, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) formally announced his “American Energy Renaissance Act” to help promote energy independence through increased oil and natural gas production with strong limits on federal government interference. Standing before a group of energy workers and executives, Sen. Cruz began his announcement by saying: “Welcome to Boomtown. This place reminds us of how American entrepreneurs ushered in a new era for America, and for the world. This discovery [oil in Texas] was made at a time when America needed energy to grow and expand.

First conservative icon Thomas Sowell turned on Ted Cruz, now it appears that Ann Coulter is souring on the Texas Republican as well. Sowell published two columns this week slamming Cruz for being self-serving. Coulter praised the first of Sowell’s columns in a tweet Wednesday. Later, in an appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity” Wednesday night, Coulter doubled down on her praise of Sowell’s anti-Cruz column: ”I never push anyone else’s column but mine. Today everyone has got to read Thomas Sowell’s article.” During the “Hannity” segment, Coulter attacked tea party groups for being filled with “shysters” and “conmen,” naming specifically the Senate Conservatives

Sen. Ted Cruz said he doesn´t regret bucking his Republican Party leaders while trying to block a vote last week to raise the nation´s borrowing limit, accusing leadership of "trickery" and caving to Democratic demands. In an interview with CNN´s Dana Bash that aired Thursday, the Texas Republican said leadership abandoned the party´s fiscal conservative principles when it agreed not to filibuster the Democrats´ debt limit bill to allow the measure to pass on a simple majority vote in the 100-member chamber. The deal would have allowed all 45 Republicans to vote against the measure while still ensuring its passage — a

If you were desperate for cash, you´d pay yourself a hefty interest rate. After all, you need the money, right? If you fail to see the absurdity in those questions, you might be a member of Congress. But what may be even more absurd than those questions is federal finance. You see, the federal government "lends" itself money and pays interest on those "loans." It has the makings of a royal mess for “King Barack.” Monday morning’s Supreme Court argument about the Environmental Protection Agency’s authority to regulate greenhouse gases went badly for the Obama administration — so much so that the real question before the justices seemed to be how severe the EPA’s loss would be. The administration’s solicitor general, Donald Verrilli, pleaded with the justices to recognize the “urgent problem” of climate change, because the “threat to future generations gets worse” with each passing year.
